    Subversion dismissed Endings before Vengeance could contact it, dodging backwards to avoid Platypus's attack. "Maybe you're just underestimating your own durability." She formed her Narrationblade into a chain and attached Endings to the tip, then swung the improvised weapon at Platypus's legs.

    Subversion deflected the stab with Endings, then got in close, shortening her Narrationblade into a dagger and stabbing towards Platypus's eye. "Still kills them just fine."

    "A prophecy? No. My family had stories about how we'd fled from the necromancer a long time ago, giving up our powers in exchange for safety, but I didn't believe them, so I didn't listen well."

    Subversion blocked this next blow with her Narrationblade, then Subverted the Narrative web so that it was centered on Platypus instead of herself, lunging to stab at him with her Blade. "No, beings of Darkness are just as affected by Mordite as anyone else. The problem with Desolation is his lack of a Core."

    "Really? So what do you know about him?"

    "Only in its own area. Which I suppose this is." Subversion Narrated a bandage around her arm, wincing as she flexed experimentally. "The difference between Mordite and Plot Significance is that I have a permanent win condition against Plot Significance. If worst comes to worst, I can just create characters directly on his Blade. With a little preparation, I might even be able to destabilize it in some other way! Mordite is by far the better weapon against Narrators."

    The ex-shovel man looks at Xiylna worriedly, but addresses the newcomer. "Do you know who this necromancer is?"

    Subversion winced, Ending the effect before it could damage her further. "I'd dodge. Narrations like that are easy to read. And don't act like a glancing blow from Mordite would be no big deal. Those wounds don't heal."

    "You know what I'd do if Hacob came at me with Plot Significance? I'd create a few burner characters and throw them at the sword until it destabilized. That wouldn't work against Mordite." Subversion dodged backwards belatedly, receiving a gash on her left arm from Vengeance.

    "Way more dangerous? A half-stable blade that only gets a few hits before becoming worthless? That Mordite blade is almost as effective and far more stable. You could kill an army of Narrators with it, while with Plot-significance you'd be lucky to get one."

    "Not what I'm worried about!" Subversion summoned Endings back to her hand and wove a complicated web of Narration that made herself impossible to hit. "You might give it to Hacob! Or let it get stolen!"

    "I said no, and I meant no! It's not happening. Go steal one from Nowhere if you really want to, that guy's got way too much Mordite for his own good. It's all Nameless' fault if you ask me."

    Subversion turned to glare at Johny. "No! The only person I'd trust with a blade that can kill anyone is myself. Weren't you just trying to destroy TLT earlier?"

    "That's great! Where can we find them?"

    "Great! I uh, don't know where to start. Do you know anyone who can help with this kind of thing?"

    Subversion kicked sand into Platypus's eyes, then threw Endings towards his chest. "It's still too dangerous to let you keep it."

    Subversion dodges this attack almost before Platypus even begins it, countering with a swift strike to Platypus's extended leg with her Narrationblade. "I'm not saying you're unstoppable, just that everyone thinks you are. That's part of why I'm fighting you. That and the Mordite blade of course."

    "Hm. You should. It's a good read. very educational. And the ending is amazing. Except for that romance plot. Didn't really like the way that panned out." Nameless shook his head disapprovingly. "...What was I saying?"

    "Well, since we have time I guess we should make a plan. TAAron, have you read the Wheel of Time series?"

    Subversion stands her ground, blocking each of Platypus's attacks without visible effort. "Honestly? I'm not sure that I can win. But I want to try anyways. You didn't think you could beat Thaidakar did you? And yet you still fought him. Now look at you. Newcomers see you as among the most dangerous people on this thread. Even Desolation respects your strength. If I can hold my own in this fight, even if I can't win, it'll prove you're not unstoppable like everyone seems to think."
