  1. I would like to point out that Scadrial and Canticle have many differences between each other beyond a piece of Ruin in their souls. North Scadrial has had centuries of peace and comfort living in a utopic area designed by Harmony to be perfect for supporting life. No struggles for food, perfect weather, plenty of rivers to move stuff easily, the Basin is basically the perfect place to build a stable, advanced society. Beyond that, they were also given help in the development of science by the Words of Founding. Canticle, on the other hand, is completely different. As you mentioned they have to constantly run from the sun and were until recently made up of a bunch of splintered societies. Also, they have been on Canticle for much longer than you assume. It's so long ago that no one really remembers how they got there. 100-200 years isn't long enough for that, particularly considering that the Greater good is somewhere around 80 years old. They would have been alive when the children or grandchildren of the original inhabitants were. It's also strongly implied that they fled shortly after the Evil first appeared, which puts their arrival on Canticle at 1000+ years ago. Another factor that's influenced Canticle is the complete lack of wars there. They fled to Canticle in order to get away from fighting, and they succeeded for thousands of years. The Cinder King is the first one to instigate real conflict, and from what we know he's only really been "at war" with the Beaconites, who haven't even tried to fight him because of their extremely peaceful culture. And that culture isn't due to lacking a piece of Ruin. One need look only at the Night Brigade to see a technologically advanced, militarized society of Threnodites. TLDR: Canticle's relative lack of technological advancement and militarization isn't because of a lack of Ruin in their souls, but instead a combination of their peaceful culture and constant struggle to survive compared to the Scadrians, who received help from a god and have a culture that has seen and fought wars in the past, if not in the present.
  2. You want to sneak in? That will be hard.
  3. Is that why they kicked you out, or whatever it is that they did? To keep control?
  4. Nameless grinned. I'm not sure the rest of the Aes Sedai would agree with you on that. So what's the actual reason you're not welcome?
  5. Nameless snorted. Not welcome? Why not? Did you do something terrible like trying to forcibly bond an Asha'man?
  6. Just trying to find a way to keep the peace between us. This seems like the best option. So, can we get it?
  7. Well, if I use it to make an oath not to kill people unless they’re trying to kill me, then you won’t have to worry about me snapping and going on a rampage.
  8. Because I want to use it. You’re talking about the one in the Tower, right? Do you think we could get it?
  9. Nameless returned to his room, trying to unwind with a reread of The Way of Kings. Still he couldn't help but feel guilty about his conversation with TAAron. Maybe... maybe she's right not to trust me. I'm not exactly being very trustworthy, going behind her back and lying to her about my past as I have. I wish... He put his book down suddenly, an idea coming to him. Standing up, he projected his thoughts to Rue. Hey Rue, do you know where an Oath Rod is? @Edema Rue
  10. "I'll let you know if I find another way."
  11. "No. I just don't know any other way."
  12. Nameless paused. "I... fine. If you don't want to help, you don't have to."
  13. "Look. If Rue finds out that I've been lying about this, she will probably try to kill me. You could knock her out without her knowledge or something like that. Can your magic cause something like that? You could pretend it was an accident with some new magic device you'd been working on or something of that kind."
  14. "Well unless you have a way to block the warder bond completely, I don't really see any other option."
  15. "Well, knocking her unconscious should work."
  16. Nameless nodded. "Well, it was too much to hope that you'd be able to heal me. But that does bring me to another part of my problem, which is what I really need your help with. I know a few ways that I might be able to get healed, but Rue would notice through our bond. Do you think you could help with that?"
  17. "Well, your planet has to have had some kind of healing magic right? Do you think maybe you could learn to do something that would help?"
  18. "Good. So basically, I need your help to find a way to cure myself, without Rue finding out."
  19. Nameless continued. "She's... sort of right about me. The taint on saidin was cleansed a long time before I was born, but when I travelled here there was some sort of time distortion, which resulted in saidin being tainted for a while after I arrived. You following this?"
  20. "You heard her half of the conversation between me and her just now, right? Well, she's..." Nameless felt Rue leave her room and glanced in her direction, waiting to be sure she wasn't getting closer to him and TAAron.
  21. Nameless masked his bond with Rue so she wouldn't be able to get more than his emotions before continuing. "It's about Rue, actually."
  22. Nameless walks up to TAAron. "I need to talk to you."
  23. "Well I wouldn't say that Nullite is specifically anti-Narration. More just very effective against it when used properly." Subversion repairs her Narrationblade with a thought and snaps her fingers, causing the fog pooling on the ground to rise up and engulf both fighters. Subversion backs away from Platypus, quickly disappearing into the fog. "Still, that blade is interesting. What's it made of?"
  24. Subversion summoned her Narrationblade back to her hand and raised it to block Platypus's attack. "What's with the fancy sword? Some kind of anti-Narration weapon?"
