  1. I would've joined earlier, but I was procrastinating
  2. Okay, I found some WoBs relating to your questions If it's not metallic then the minerals would be seen as rocks, so Talus rather than Foil. Radiants don't have the gemstone corresponding to Essence restriction, just like they are somewhat protected from Savanthood by Soulcasting but aren't immune to it. Here's a WoB: The first WoB that you posted is about the Surge of Transformation itself seeming to require specific gemstones, a limitation not held by the other Surges. Note that we didn't know much about Soulcasting at the time, that WoB was from after Way of Kings & before Words of Radiance, when Jasnah was hiding her Radiancy and Shallan was just getting her Nahel Bond with Pattern. The second WoB that you posted doesn't contradict the info from the WoB posted above either, it seems supportive it.
  3. Happy Birthday!

  4. Technical error? Report it to a mod then
  5. Yeah, 30's the limit, you have 21 though so it should be editable. Polls can be edited the same way as with any other topic, you press the edit button below your text post, it's not located below the poll but the post. Now you can edit the poll, the big blue button at the top that says Content, click it & select Poll from the drop-down menu to open the page with the poll, and voila, add options by clicking the plus button on bottom right. Ikr, polls are confusing on this site. I remember when I first tried to create a poll and it wouldn't upload, because I needed to fill both the Poll page & Content page to be able to upload it.
  6. That's exactly the point. The whole issue of Vorin casteism is being side-stepped in the story by making it irrelevant. Moash was the only one left. And he's evil.
  7. Adorability meter is broken now

Cat, dog, hamster & mouse in an obstacle course

    1. Chinkoln

      Chinkoln

The cat did surprisingly well, and the dog performed exactly as I expected

The dog was still the best part,

  8. Water would be Blood, ice I think would be Lucentia, bone should be sinew as its a living organ not a piece of rock imo but I get the feeling Rosharans wouldn't see it that way plus Talus' Body Focus is literally bone, metals including impure ores would be Foil; Rosharans still don't know much about germs besides what the Heralds told them so I can't imagine they'd have tried Soulcasting microorganisms, this might happen in a future era, then categorization into Pulp or Sinew might depend on the type of microorganism, assuming Soulcasting microorganisms is even possible, no idea how they'd categorize viruses; Soulcasting plasma should not be possible for Soulcasters or Radiants, probably not Heralds either, the Surges were restricted by Honor and this amount of Investiture would also not be normally available for Radiants, if they find a way to unchain the Surges and a way to access a large amount of Investiture, I think this would fall under Spark. Soulcasting stuff in their liquid state is an interesting idea! Though given the rule of perception, they might fall under Tallow by virtue of their viscosity, perhaps. Assuming these are all even actual issues, given that Soulcasters probably wouldn't be able to do most of these things at all due to not having enough Investiture + restrictions and Radiants with access to the Soulcasting Surge not needing the specific gemstones. I don't understand what you mean by Soulcasting into something colder, do you mean less energetic states of matter? Then we don't know as this is not scientific knowledge available to the Rosharans, so how they'd perceive it is up in the air. Soulcasting ionized or excited particles may not be possible. What do you mean by non-ambient pressure? Soulcasting an object at higher or lower pressure than standard atmospheric pressures? That's possible. To Soulcast stuff to be in a pressurized state? That would be a very high level skill, I think. We do see Soulcasting between solid and gaseous, doing so safely would depend on the skill & power of the Soulcaster. Soulcasting an object to have a different velocity state would depend on the skill & power of the Soulcaster, I think, as they'd have to convince the object, I don't think Soulcasting projectile weapons would be better than having a gun though.
  9. This post by @Pagerunner has a thorough breakdown about the Surges we didn't have a lot of info on, it's from before RoW so it doesn't have any spoilers / isn't updated with any new info on the Willshaper Surges:
  10. The idea of Moash the anti-Nazi Nazi god is hilarious but that would also be very problematic. Taravangian as Odium brings more to the table. A late-game emotionally stable Moash becoming Odium could be possible and wouldn't have the problematic implications.
  11. Don't forget the Purelaker religion from Roshar and the Pantheon from First of the Sun! There was also the religion on Roshar that believed that everyday a new you wakes up in your body, and the old you dies when you go to sleep at night. I chose the Path, because it's pretty chill. It's not even about belief or veneration, nor a strict philosophy, more a way of life, and I'm all about that.
  12. He did get his Allomancy via Hemalurgy, so maybe his... spike donors were strong enough Allomancers that combined they could do that edit: wait, this was when he attacked Sazed. I think Ruin himself was directly providing extra oomph to Marsh in this case
  13. Yup, the shape of the metalmind doesn't matter, it doesn't need to be worn, though the Feruchemist does need Physical contact to access the metalmind, both to store & tap. Allomancers powerful enough to push or pull metalminds away no longer exist... even the instance we saw of this happening was a Mistborn drawing on the Mists, so this might not even be something that's possible without hacks. Perhaps a Lerasium Mistborn with Duralumin burst could achieve a similar feat. Mechanical Allomancy might also work.
  14. Oh hey, nice profile pic! Willshaper in rainbow, love it!
  15. Soulcasting, definitely Soulcasting. For Allomancy, I pick Soothing, far too useful, plus brass is a very easily accessible metal on Earth... wait a minute, I just picked Soulcasting, didn't I? Who cares about cost or availability then, lol. Though I'm not a chemist or a metalworker, so I've never had cause to procure metals, aside from jewellery or steel, I guess. Electrum could be useful here but it's rather short duration, I pick cadmium then. Wait a minute, will I need gemstones to Soulcast?
  16. Yup, that Command would be its purpose for existence
  17. Yup, we did get solid confirmation within the book itself but if you're looking for direct confirmation from Brandon, there are many WoBs like this one. Nightblood is an Awakened steel sword, what Vasher called a Type IV object, sentient Awakened object. His Command is to "Destroy Evil". Awakening inanimate objects is pretty difficult. The Five Scholars didn't disseminate the information on how to create them, the one who wanted to, Shashara, was killed by Vasher for it. You need to be of at least the Ninth Heightening to Awaken steel or stone.
  18. Wow! Would love to see a phoneme breakdown, "man" is the only one I was good enough to decipher
  19. Happy Pride Month, laddies, lasses & lassoes!
  20. Happy Birthday, Cal!

  21. A Dawnshard taking away immortality instead of bestowing it would be an interesting & hilarious twist edit: wait a min, I think you posted this twice
  22. A Dawnshard taking away immortality instead of bestowing it would be an interesting & hilarious twist
  23. The Pool near Elantris is Devotion's Perpendicularity, yes. He's talking about a different planet in the Selish system. It might be that Khrissala got access to some magitech devices which could measure the temperature etc from the Cognitive or she found a magic which allows her to create mini-perpendicularities like the Elsecallers.
