  1. Considering that he made an entire army with over fifty breaths a piece like that wasn't too big of a deal. Additionally remember that originally lifeless requires multiple breath to work, but the ichor alcohol was developed allowing for single breath awakening. On top of that making something weaker than Nightblood should require far less than the original. And someone had enough breaths as Lightsong's dreams show an army of lifeless with such weapons. I'd imagine that after refinement only a few hundred breaths would be needed. Do I think a shardblade equals 4-5 Phantoms? Absolutely.
  2. I made an entire thread about it. My thoughts have evolved since then, but my feelings remain the same. I can find two good chapters in any Sanderson book, so I'll leave FoD out. Tress was okay, but I'd put it neat Elantris personally. Yumi was good that's true but up until RoW the worst Sanderson books were considered Alloy of Law and Elantris. That's after over a decade of authorship. Since 2020 RoW, and WaT have both put themselves in there almost universally, with others like TLM or TSM sneaking in there. In five years he's made twice the number of bad books than he did in the first 15.
  3. Yes, but he's also really expensive. If you give him to someone with only a single breath, or worse none, they'll die before they make much of a difference. Shardblades on the other hand, you can just give them to a lifeless and they can still use it.
  4. Nightblood on his own isn't necessarily the greatest as a personal weapon. But the fact that he could be created implies that improvements could be made. Eventually you end up with just Shardblades. I think the ability to mass produce them is a serious threat.
  5. It wasn't just them, TLM was pretty weak, TSM as much as I love it, sucked. It was terrible. It wasn't just the pattern being broken. I've been coming to the conclusion over the last couple of months, but I honestly think that Brandon is getting worse as a writer. While he still gets a good book out every now and again the general trend has been towards a decreasing quality.
  6. Sorry I wasn't going to get in on this but LOTR is my strongsuit.
  7. Eh, yes and no. While mobs were the first perpetrators the government of Missouri enabled them, defended them, and when the Saints defended themselves sent the militia in to force the saints out of the State
  8. Welcome to the shard! The highlighted sections make me feel that this was AI generated, which I personally don't have a problem with, but you should probably do a bit more polish on them before posting as a couple of these have little basis within the books, or have been confirmed and are thus no longer speculation. As for Nohadon, he appears to me to be much closer to a manifestation of the God Beyond than Adonalsium. The Stormfather even says that one of the dreams Dalinar had wasn't of the Shards, while it bears many resemblances to other manifestations at other parts of the story. Light reading for anyone interested
  9. My method would probably legally be considered Torture, but that's a small price to pay. They will never sleep peacefully for more than a week at a time again.
  10. WoBs confirm it but there's some solid indications in the text. Spark flickers - metallic pieces that Herdazians attach to their nails to light fires. You might remember Lopen telling a guard that he has special Herdazian nails at the end of OB. Horneaters eating shells, they even have cool little mouth parts in some of the art iirc Sighted Horneaters, individuals like Rock and Cord who can see spren the same way Singers can and have the ability to weakly bond them for strength It's part of why Horneaters had to leave for the peaks as no one liked them and saw them as traitors. Horneater drinks being considered strong enough to kill, and melting cups Etc All valid. Though lets also not forget that he also thinks he's funny and keeps trying to write comedy despite not being funny. I'm afraid I must disagree. If it wasn't for the magic and worldbuilding: there's nothing in Mistborn worth reading, WoK becomes really stale, Oathbringer loses the only reason to reread it, and not a single book Brandon has written since 2018 would be worth more than the amount of paper towels you could turn the pages into and I will die on this hill. While on the flip side all the characters Brandon has the only really standout ones I can find are Kaladin, Szeth, and Hoid and the more Brandon spends time with Hoid the less interesting he becomes.
  11. Alliroz, am I an American? Because if you consider me to be you have to consider Kaladin Rosharan. What about Herdazians or Horneaters? Both of them have both human and singer ancestry. Heck Syl and Pattern are every bit as native to Roshar as Rlain and Venli are.
  12. Given her almost complete lack of basic human decency I have to disagree.
  13. You are correct he could decide not to, but once provided they can do what they want with it. And he is providing it already to the singers on the shattered plains.
  14. That's something Illumination could do
  15. Awesome, what do you feel like doing?
  16. Interesting. I'll have to look further into it. As they're in weight class three I'd just leave them as is, unless we could find more to create a fourth weight class. Side note as for why what a character intends to do next is important is that it allows the judges to determine how you would react to what your opponent does.
  17. So as we're starting the first couple of rounds here right now I thought I'd put an example most here right now as well as a clarification on draws. Example post: Only put the things that could reasonably be done all at once or in very quick succession. Additionally in case of a draw the character playing less aggressively will lose, for example a heavenly one who stays in the air and doesn't fight their Koloss adversary. I haven't read the omnibus, but in the graphic novels Sandmasters can burn themselves out and when they recover they have more ribbons. I'd assume Kenton made that common knowledge.
  18. Well yes, but actually no. It's complicated. While we have Bishops, priests, and many other ecclesiastical callings all positions are voluntary. For example I served as a Missionary for two years. That was a full time position, 6:30 AM until 10:30 PM every day for two years. I did not receive a penny for this and my work was entirely voluntary. This same principle applies to all similar positions(though most others are only part time). Additionally our priesthood positions are not sought after, but individuals of local congregations are called for periods of service(for example Bishops serve for five years before returning to the congregation). Not sure if that answers your question or not.
  19. Welcome to the Shard! This thread has been inactive for five years, probably would be best to leave it be.
  20. Well I can't say I actively think about it, but I find healthy masculine characters to be all sorts of necessary. So, I guess that's a yes to that question, there is an overlap.
  21. I don't think that creating art that people don't like is any form of good. People like good art and they want more of it. I've seen a lot of people say that they've stopped reading not just SA but Brandon altogether because of how bad WaT is.
  22. I agree plate is broken. That's why we have the weight classes.
  23. Ooh, I had forgotten about charred. Um, weight class 3. From what I remembered they were just strong and fast. Unless I forgot something big, like their existing of course.
  24. I agree. I'm also really excited to try this. Okay for Volunteers we have: Adonalsium-will-return - Judge Akimikoisthecutest - Judge Immortal platypus - Judge Frustration - Either Coder Dragon - Either Ashkaloda - Either Born of Mist - Player Argenti - Either Qianweilian - Either - weight class 1&2 Kaladinsenseofhumorspren - Either - weight class 2 Trusk'our - Judge That's enough to start! Basic weight class: based off of another thread. I'll leave things like Heralds, Fullborn, and tenth heightening awakeners banished to weight class zero for the moment, mostly just because we don't know enough about them for the data to be worth much, though if you want to play a round without recording the results go right ahead. In an hour or so I'll set up a random bracket or something so keep an eye on those PMs, but for now do any of our players have a weight class they would prefer, and if so which ones? Also if you have problems with the weight classes feel free to bring it up.
  25. I mean I'd read about people ripping heads apart complete with bits of brains and skull inside with only mild discomfort. If I saw that... Yeah I wouldn't like it.
