  1. Nope. It's definitely not cosmere. Neither is Steelheart. Steelheart is set in a distopian future Earth, and Rithmatist is set on an alternate Earth. Brandon has said that nothing on Earth is cosmere.
  2. Such a troll...
  3. Either that, or you can use the insert link button in the post box.
  4. We aren't taking requests right now. Sorry Kurk. Right now our focus is getting the main site updated, and then we'll move on to getting the mobile site up to scratch. I tested Atomic Web Browser, and was finally able to replicate the problem, but it's an easy fix. there's a drop down at the bottom of the page that gives you two options, IP.Board and IP.Board Mobile. Just select the IP.Board Mobile option and you should be good to go.
  5. What more info do you want? I've got a pretty good idea of what's going on with them, I just posted a general summary above to avoid being droll.
  6. I've been trying to get your results to replicate on my iPhone, and I've had no luck at all. I've tried three separate browsers, and nothing is doing it. Could you perhaps give a more detailed description of what's happening, where it's happening, and on which browser so that I can replicate it to see where the issue is? As for integrating all the features of the site into the mobile version, frankly, it's not going to happen anytime soon. We've tried it, and found that it's not possible without being either extremely hard to navigate or being cluttered, and I'm not okay with either option. I'm sorry that it "annoys you to no end", but that's the way it's going to stay for now. Our primary focus is on making the desktop site have the features, while keeping the mobile version simple and clean so that you can easily navigate the news and the forums from your phone. As for the IPboard app not being able to access the site, that's very intentional. To enable the IPboard app, every time someone goes to the mobile site, they're informed about the (paid, if memory serves) app alternative to the mobile view. I've seen one too many mobile sites that have that annoying popup informing you of said app that I refused to let that happen on 17S.
  7. The listed retail price is $14.95, and it's because Tachyon is a smaller press, and it's more expensive for them to print books because they're not printing the massive quantities that other publishers do. As for why it's cheaper on Amazon, they sell so many books that they're able to make less profit per book, from what I understand. As for the ebook, the reason it's cheaper is because Brandon retained the digital rights when he sold the book to Tachyon and is selling it himself.
  8. It's actually a really nice combo of Defending Elysium and Firstborn, and last I heard, Brandon's planning to sell it at cons this year. The listed price is $17.99, but it's understandable given that it was a small print on demand run. I'll get a picture or two up sometime this weekend.
  9. We're aware of it, and we're working to fix it. The sporadic ups and downs that you've been seeing in the last couple hours has been me and Chaos trying to tighten things up, take a few things down to try to isolate the problem (If you'll note, the TWG archive is down right now), and at the end of the day just trying to see if a few resets will fix the server. Edit: Everything seems to be running fine now, but we'll still keep an eye on things.

I asked Peter about this yesterday, and he said that he assumes it's his last name.
  11. Drat! You caught me! The super fine print says that I can only have people's souls if they call me out on it, so I suppose you can keep it. Sadly, though my bagel guy's prices are really up there, but they're really good bagels... In all seriousness, welcome to the site. I hope you enjoy it here, and if you ever need anything site related, feel free to ask any of the staff. -Rubix
  12. You mean this TWG thread? It's all still there, it's just hosted on our site in a read only mode.
  13. If you "blatantly steal all of their cool stuff", that's blatantly stealing, and frankly, I don't want to deal with even the possibility of a copyright suit. It's against the rules, and action may be taken against you for violating them. There have been some talks, but they weren't very successful. Unless you hear from us that things have changed, the answer is no.
  14. That is absolutely not the main purpose of the forum. Many forum discussions have leaned towards the realm of the theoretical lately, but that's never been the intent. We're looking into possible solutions.
  15. Specifically, 'Sharder' is the term that Brandon uses to refer to fans who are members of this wonderful site. Other people I've heard as either "BranderFans" or "SanderFans". But we get the cool one.
  16. Welcome Aaron! As for what day, I haven't entirely decided. Depends on which day you bring me my bagel/krispy kreme. :P/> In all seriousness, welcome to the site! I hope you enjoy it here!
  17. Yes, but it's so alarmingly similar that Coulton is wondering if they used his backtrack. Not even sampling it, using it all the way through. While your point totally stands for recording a new cover, using the same backtrack... I don't think that's quite legal.
  18. Yup. What you're seeing in your stats tab is what reputation you've given, and what's in your reputation tab is what others have given you.
  19. So, apparently in the next season of GLEE, they're doing a cover of Sir Mix-A-Lot's 'Baby Got Back', but the arrangement that they're using is VERY familiar to anyone familiar with the work of Jonathan Coulton. He did back in 2006, which is very different than . But strangely, if you listen to the GLEE version it's almost exactly identical to Jonathan Coulton's cover. The similarity is even more apparent when you listen to them on top of one another. The cherry on top of it all? The original lyrics include "So find that juicy double/Mix-a-Lot's in trouble/Beggin' for a piece of that bubble", but when Coulton covered it, he decided to change the lyric to "So find that juicy double/Johnny C.'s in trouble/Beggin' for a piece of that bubble". The GLEE version for whatever reason decided to include the latter, despite the fact that they claim that they're covering the Sir Mix-A-Lot version. Also, at around the 2:40 mark on the joint audio, there's a duck quacking. If you listen to just the left audio (the GLEE version), I can hear a soft quack at that point, but maybe it's just me. Coulton's Opinions on the matter are reasonably angry 1st Tweet, 2nd Tweet. And yes, before anybody tries to call me out on it, I saw this first on this Reddit post. Anyway, what do you guys think?
  20. As for the bagel, always with cream cheese. Specifically, toasted with cream cheese, and some strawberry jam. Either that, or you can have it back . It's only in there to make sure people are paying attention. One way or the other, many welcomes! Hope you enjoy it here!
  21. Welcome, Vindicator! It really is in there to see who's paying attention to the Very Important Wall-o-Text™, and as for the bagel, those things are expensive . Not that my little joke hasn't made people call me evil... but I digress. In all seriousness, I hope you enjoy it here, and if you ever need anything, feel free to drop me a PM!
  22. I've edited in spoiler tags. In the future, make sure that you put things in spoiler tags, or at least put a warning in the topic title. It's just good manners. In case anyone needs it, the spoiler tags are [spoiler|] SPOILERS HERE [/spoiler|]. Just take out the |.
  23. BWAHAHAHAHAHA! Kurk, that's awesome. Mind, I agree with your sentiment. I at least was paying attention and participating a little bit. All things considered, though, fRR did a pretty good job summing up our little "trip".
  24. Dhalagirl, I'm really not sure what you meant by this. I can't tell if you're saying that only people who have been reading the series for a certain period of time will feel the loss, or if you're trying to say that because he hasn't been reading it as long as you have his opinion isn't as valid. Either way, I don't see why you brought up "6-7 years isn't very long when you consider the length of time the series has been out". You invited anyone who wanted to share their feelings to do so, and he did. Attacking him for it makes no sense to me. And no, saying "Forgive me for saying so, but..." or even "No offense, but..." doesn't make what you're saying any less offensive, or any less an attack. I usually find it to be more offensive, because you're being rude, you're acknowledging that you know it, and saying something anyway. That said, I've only been reading the series since a month or so before Gathering Storm came out, but while I am excited for the ending, I'm going to be sad to see it go, too.
  25. Ah. That's why Towers is my favorite book. After much slacking off and not reading as fast as I should have been, I finished today. And Towers is still awesome.
