Hey guys, So, you may have seen all these people giving away ARC's of ALLOY OF LAW, and one or two that may have included something else. I realized that there's a LOT more Mistborn stuff that ought to be given away, and where better to do it than from here? Without any further ado, the greatest mistborn giveaway that's EVER been put together. EVER. Our grand prize winner will be getting (1) signed and personalized ARC of Mistborn: The Alloy of Law, (1) signed and personalized mistborn trilogy, donated by the wonderful and generous Brandon Sanderson himself, (1) Mistborn T-shirt from the amazing people at inkwing.com, (1) Mistborn jewelry piece donated by Badali Jewelry, and last, but certainly not least, (1) Mistborn poster from Crafty Games Our two runners up will both receive: (1) signed and personalized ARC of Mistborn: The Alloy of Law, and very possibly other epic goods (this post will be edited as we finalize details. we wanted to get it up to get the winners their stuff as soon as possible) All you need to do to enter to win is register for a 17th Shard account if you don't already have one, and leave a comment over on the News Post that implies in some way or another that you're interested in obtaining these wonderful prizes for yourself. The contest will run until 11:59 PM MST on September 26, 2011. If you have any questions about the details of the contest, please feel free to email me at josh(at)staff(dot)17thshard(dot)com. Now comes the part where I have to be a meanie. No winners will be chosen that are 17thShard Staff members, or their families. One entry per person AND per household. Please don't register for multiple accounts and enter twice like people did in the last contest. That's not cool, and I won't put up with it. Good luck, and remember, there's always another secret!

Actually, there's a reason I go by Rubix... It's what my band teacher called me in marching band because there were three of us in the band named Josh. He got sick of having to call out last names, and since I was always carrying around a Rubik's Cube, he started calling me Rubik's, but where the apostrophe implies possession I stylized it to Rubix, and it kinda stuck. Yup! I came up with the concept, and Mi'ch made it.

Hey all, As you may be aware, during WorldCon, Mi'ch and I got to sit down with Isaac Stewart of Inkwing arts, who is responsible for much of the artwork in the Mistborn series, as well as The Way of Kings. While we were chatting, he showed me some of the things he'd be putting up on his website in the near future. Many of them are up now, including the WALLPAPER size map of Roshar, and a pretty good size version of the Shadesmar map, for those of you who may have the book in paperback. Anyway, you should all go check out IsaacStewart.com and Inkwing.com because they've got some really cool stuff up!

Caramelldansen. Totally. Won the game or lost the game?

As of tonight, I feel VERY legit.

So, last night was the Hugo awards ceremony, and sadly, Brandon didn't win the Hugo for Best Related Work for his work with Writing Excuses (if you haven't checked it out, you totally should) (Also, I'm blaming Chaos on this one, since he didn't come down). He also didn't get a nomination for The Way of Kings, which we all know totally deserved it, because that book rocked. This seemed a glaring oversight to Inkwing.com's Isaac Stewart, who decided to rectify the problem in a very creative way. One run to Walmart and two Lego sets later, he presented the Victor Hugo Award (Not a Hugo) to Brandon after the Hugo ceremony (More pictures to come, when I'm not working on a laptop in a hotel room). So congrats to Brandon on winning this very prestigious award (He's won it every time it's been offered), and the best of luck from all of us here at 17th Shard on winning a Hugo in the future. You know what? Screw the Hugo! Brandon's already won the Gemmel award! And battle axes are MUCH cooler than rockets. You'd actually have to try to kill someone with the Hugo rocket. Brandon, next year, bring the Gemmel ax, AND TAKE WHAT'S RIGHTFULLY YOURS!!!

I'z joined. And I may be biased, but I think you should totally make me an admin.

Also so I can review my lists of questions, which are on my phone.

Brandon announced today via twitter that he "Shook Hands" today with group who was interested in producing a video game, and says that at this point that it's "A pretty sure thing". He says that he will have a "Major Hand" in the writing of the Mistborn game, and says he will do a blog post once the contract is inked. For more info, check out Brandon's Twitter

I would like to announce that I am Lord Joshin Ostlin.

Go watch this. You'll find out what fear is.
-
Brandon has conclusively stated that it is not. I've confirmed the full list of planned cosmere novels with him, and Scribbler isn't on that list. I can understand thinking that it is, what with the very defined magic system and all, but the book is set in an alt-history America, and America (and all of Earth, alternate or not) is not in the cosmere. Sorry!

What are you playing right now?
Rubix replied to Link Von Kelsier Harvey's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Just played 3 hours of Magicka with Chaos... Too much fun. We had a bit too much fun with an M60. Anybody else play? -
I sent you an invite. Let me know if it doesn't work.
-
Yay!! My invite finally worked!!!

A partial answer to this: As for whether or not we'll see him in a more major capacity, I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised.
-
Sadly, memory serves a dark, and dare I say, Ruinous master... It's two stormlight, then one of something else, two stormlight, one of something else, and so forth.
-
I'd need to review what's in there really quick. Hit me up on Skype when you get a sec.
-
Sadly, I don't think it's one that I have a copy of... but going forward, I'm going to be making sure that there's an audio of all interviews. It's just a matter of being able to get an audio recorder.
-
Confirmed by me, in an interview with Brandon. I was talking about the entire cosmere. From what Brandon told me there aren't any other pairs like Ruin and Preservation in all the shards. They may very well be balanced (eight positive and eight negative, or something like that), but no other pairs exist.
-
Brandon has confirmed that while some of the Shard's powers are similar, none are as close as Ruin and Preservation. However, the theory that they all must, in some way, cancel out, is intriguing. One good for one evil... I like it. Nice and balanced.
