Questions you'd like to see answered on Shardcast
Rubix replied to firstRainbowRose's topic in 17th Shard Discussion
Hey guys, please keep this thread to ASKING questions, as opposed to answering. We're trying to gather questions that we can answer on upcoming episodes of Shardcast. Any answers that are posted in this thread will be hidden, and shamelessly stolen for the podcast. Carry on. -
Topic locked. This discussion is going around in circles, and it's very clear that no one is willing to change their opinion. At this point, leaving this topic open will only create more bad feelings, and will not add anything more to the discussion. If you have any questions, or feel that you have something to add that will move the topic forward in a positive manner, feel free to PM me, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

There isn't a maximum limit at this time, but it's something that we're looking into. It's not that it slows the site down, it's mostly to keep things readable for new members, or members who are wanting to join. Seeing a 4000 comment thread as the intro to something is incredibly intimidating (And it's difficult to moderate as well, IE: did I check out page 76, or was it 77? Crap. Now I need to go check both.)
-
That would be awesome. Start up a new one, with a summary of this one, and I'll lock this one down once the new one is up.

The Ultimate SLC Comic Con Stalker Strategy Thread
Rubix replied to Seonid's topic in Events and Signings
All of Brandon's panels were recorded, as were most signings. I need to review what we got, and then I'll post what I can. I know there are going to be some problems with some of the audio due to someone blasting licensed music nearby, and I don't want any issues with infringing on the artist's copyright. Now time to sleep for 36 hours. -

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher
Rubix replied to Rubix's topic in Sanderson Elimination
In that case, the rule for the killing item is fundamentally broken for this game. Don't get me wrong here, I actually really like the idea of having to sacrifice one of your team-members to get a kill but in this game it is horribly unbalanced. That's actually not the case at all, but seeing as Wilson wasn't making the decisions, yes, let's jump on to what she's said immediately. If he was wrecking his chances of winning with that faction please keep in mind that it is just as serious for non-sharders and they don't have a second faction to still have a chance with afterwoulds. The curses were all decided (along with how the prayer was granted), on an individual basis. Gamma asked for a boon, and he got it, so things were actually balanced in Gamma's favor, not that of one of his factions. He could have JUST AS EASILY fed the sharders to the sword, and they actually could have done LESS to stop the thing. Not ONE PERSON asked for the thing to be taken away from him. He could have been stopped, but no one came forward to try to do so. Problems like people being passive aggressive in white text? This could have been in black text, and contributed to your post, but you chose instead to hide it. By all means, feel free to PM me and let me know why you feel the need to do this so consistently.- 384 replies

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher
Rubix replied to Rubix's topic in Sanderson Elimination
THESE WORDS ARE ACCEPTED!!! The sound shook Lyla to the core, and made her fear for the curse that would soon be upon her. She felt her eyes ripple under her eyelids, and as she looked down at her hands, she saw that her skin was starting to lose its color. Let's put a smile on that face, came a voice in her mind. Was she going crazy, or was she turning grey? Were both her curse? "Silly ardent, you really shouldn't have prayed this night," uttered Magam as he strolled up behind Lyla. "Should you have protected yourself instead, you wouldn't be in this position. Surely by now you're wondering about the lack of color in your skin and the voice in your mind. Sorry to be the one to tell you, but neither is your curse." Magam raised the sword Slaughter to Lyla's throat and continued, "See, Slaughter here needs to eat, and you're what's on the menu for tonight. Solace for you lies only in that I can promise you that your death is for a greater purpose." Wetting Slaughter with Lyla's blood brought Magam no pleasure, though he suspected that it did bring some to the sword. The rest of the group rounded the corner, and Rengar proclaimed, "Clanal has been dealt with, Magam." "So? Surely you aren't expecting a cookie, are you? Seventeenth sharders do what is needed, without expectation of reward. Seeing as you haven't dragged this task through the crem, however, I can say that you've officially passed the initiation." "Then it is time?" asked Lucy. "So it is," Magam replied. The group turned and started off towards the manor of the Steward of Kholin. As they approached the manor, Lord Xeneth approached them, still wearing that idiotic hat of his, with his shardblade held over his shoulder, like he was under the impression that he was some kind of soldier. "Those kids are at it again! Wasting the glyphmaster's time and resources," Xeneth exclaimed, as he shoved a bit of parchment towards Magam's face that appeared to read ".-.. -.-- .-.. .- / .. ... / .- / -.- -. .. --. .... - / .-- .... --- / ... .- -.-- ... / -. .. .-.-.- / ..-. .-. --- -- / .... --..-- / -.-" "Sir, I mean, my lord, are you aware that you aren't wearing pants?" Magam asked. "I'm not? Oh my! It appears that I'm not. I can't even remember the last time I put them on, now that I think of it..." "Since you started wearing that wonderful new hat, my lord. Seek we for your forgiveness, lord, but we have business to be about. Should you find that you have some free time, however, it appears that Atrus should probably be cut down," Magam replied, indicating towards where Atrus' corpse was hung out upside down, with a glyph that read "Ghostblood" branded into his chest. "Of course, friends. Be on your way, and may the Almighty bless your path." "Thank you so much, lord" Sarams replied. They continued on into the manor, and entered the Steward's audience chamber without a guard in sight. "STEWARD!!!" called Magam. "Surely you've been turning a blind eye to the havoc that has struck your city this past week!" "Magam, we must do this properly," cautioned Trahar as he grabbed the scroll from his sling. "Lord Khiriq, you are hereby charged with the neglect of the city that was placed under your stewardship, and by so doing, endangered the furthest reaches of the cosmere," Trahar read. "How do you plead?" "Guilty," sobbed Khiriq, his head in his hands, tears streaming down his cheeks. "The punishment for this crime is death, to be administered at the hand of a member of the organization. Magam, if you would?" "Slaughter, it's time to show them why the 's' in your name is silent!" Magam cackled, as Khiriq drew his last breath. I'd also like to apologize publicly to Mon, who died a day early to my spacing his delayed death. Thanks so much to everyone for playing! Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher
Rubix replied to Rubix's topic in Sanderson Elimination
DAY SEVEN: Whistles on the Wind Xeneth rammed his blade into the ground, and bent down to examine the pile of corpses at his feet. In the pile were his friends Binnt, Twei, and Jim Bob Dirt. Poor Dirt, Xeneth thought to himself, It was an awful nickname, but when your parents name you Jimbobdirtridbobmij, you work with what you're given. As Xeneth drew the blade from the ground, he noticed that his blade had severed a piece of parchment. He opened it and read "N:Kill:Clan&Jim.Trust Ma,Tr&Lu.Vote w/Mer Kas: Nob- St+GB/fVB, Mer- Ar+A. Mer:Trust Mag. Vote w/Nob. Use Lu to comm. Also, kill everyone!" The storming kids were using color now. He had to go talk to the glyphmasters about these pranksters, and as we was a lord now, he figured they'd probably listen. At least the hat's curse was finally slowing down, but still his friends died. Perhaps if he offered the sword to the nightwatcher, she'd stop killing his friends. He somehow doubted it. Stormwarden who is growing more comfortable in this new town's warning: Storm today, maybe tomorrow. Yes, it is. Also not mentioned was the Shallan costume that Mi'ch wore to the release party. If you look at the sketch that Isaac did in the sketchbook, it's actually of Mi'ch and I in our costumes.

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher

DAY SIX: Shardblades Killing Darkeyes Xeneth ran through the streets, fleeing from the mob that was pursuing him. He was sorry about the hat, he really was. But why did his friend Heron have to die for it? As he ran, he tripped over Asphodel's corpse, and rammed headfirst into Hinah, who raised her fist to the sky and called out, "Curse you GM! Dinner better be ready when I get home!" and fell over dead. This was getting entirely out of hand. Since she'd yelled random things at him, he decided to do the same to her. "Mag&Luc also 17S. Ignore boongiver. Just unite and vote. Dead:3SG/3tVB/2WS/GB/Ar/fVB. Discuss all possibilities publicly! 17s dominating ," he yelled at her corpse as he walked away. He continued running, and as he ran, he saw someone laying facedown in the street with what looked like a shardblade protruding from his back. Like King Nohadon of legend, he drew the shardblade from Aonar's corpse, and raised it aloft. Did this mean that now he was king? Either way, Xeneth turned to face the mob, and called, "Let's see you try to take my hat now, fools!" Shots Fired! "Feel free to try and beat [you]"? We may have an unfair advantage in this contest... But we've got some cool stuff, and we don't get to show it to people very often. First, the pile of swag and books. Please note the white paper under the newspaper. That's the original of something that went into Words of Radiance Closeup on the newspaper.. And what's this? Next on the tour is the prop of Shallan's sketchbook that was made for the Way of Kings release party. Taiwanese copy plus day planners (why they say notebook, I'll never know). Not going to explain this one. But you can read and find out. Way of Kings postcard? Yes please. ARC VS Trade Paperback And the backs of the three US versions, as well as the ARC. Note the slightly different back text on the three published versions. Epic bookmark: And a few numbered copies. As for the size of the glyphs on the beanie...

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher
Rubix replied to Rubix's topic in Sanderson Elimination
DAY FIVE: All's Quiet on the Stormward Front Xeneth huddled in his home, fearing for his life. His hat clearly hadn't been worth what it had cost. In the last day, he'd lost his friends Jain, Jerrek, Rolav, and Greyeh. At this rate, soon he wouldn't have any friends left. He had just gotten up to fix himself something to drink when he noticed a piece of parchment on the shelf that hadn't been there yesterday. He decided to open it up to see what was inside, and saw the meaningless jumble of glyphs inside: "17S duping you. Kill: Tra, Sar, Her, Aon. Scan: Mag&Luc. 3VB Dead (2 true, Kas&M/N) Nobles: use VB. Trust:Ren, Alv, Lyl. Dead: N!WS, D!M!SG". Storming kids and their pranks. Didn't they know that the royal glyphmasters had better things to be about? He decided that the parchment would make very nice kindling, and used it to start the fire so he could warm the water for his tea. As he lit the parchment, a voice boomed, seeming to shake the very rock beneath his feet. "YOUR GIFT THIS CYCLE IS THE TEMPORARY STAYING OF MY HAND IN THIS CONFLICT. YOUR CURSE WILL BECOME APPARENT IN DUE COURSE." Xeneth watched as the stormwarden fled through the city gates as he sat, drinking his steaming tea. DAY FOUR: The Dead Lay in Streets, Not in Graves Xeneth was tired of tripping over corpses. He loved his hat so very much, but he hated to see all his friends die like this. He knew they couldn't possibly deserve it, but his hat meant so much to him. Maybe more than Kasimar, perhaps, but no one liked that guy. He continued on, tripping over Mon, and fell face first into a pile of corpses that included Peng, Nixi, and Mailam. Xeneth was entirely fed up with this day, and decided that it may be safest to go hide at home. As he was headed home, he heard a crier shout, "Murderer! You have no Honor, leaving my children orphans, I curse you and your faction -- Ace had only one target, Weiriah had a selection." Spooked, Xeneth quickened his pace towards home. Stormwarden's Warning: No Highstorm today. DAY THREE: Slaughter in the Streets Xeneth staggered out into the street, thankful to have finally returned home from his voyage. As he regained his footing, he noticed that the fighting had mellowed out in this part of the city. 'Were the riots over?' he wondered to himself. Just then, a mass of people came charging out of an alley, screaming. "Guess not," he mused aloud to himself. Against his better judgement, he decided to wander down the alley to see what all the commotion had been about. Midway down the alley, lay his two friends, Weiriah, and Ace. They had always been so good to him. Maybe this was the curse that the Nightwatcher had laid upon him, taking away his friends. Oh well. He did get a really cool hat out of the deal. Weiriah and Ace have died. Just to reiterate from yesterday, please keep your PM's in the first PM that I sent to you giving you your role. My inbox begs your mercy.
