I don't think Lirin is a coward, I'd actually say he's quite brave for the work he's doing under the table and out of sight even though he'd be killed if caught. On the other hand, I do think his pacifism is defeatist and that he is sticking his head in the sand in the big picture of events on Roshar. This quote is perhaps a bit cliche, but I think it sums up the flaws of Lirin's "I obey the person who holds the sword to my neck, General,” Lirin said. “Same as I always have." policy. He's perpetuating the social order of persons who hold the sword to his neck with his blanket obedience. There's been comparisons of him to Oskar Schindler in this thread, but the death camps didn't stop killing Jews until men with guns knocked the gates down. It's every animals' natural instinct to survive, but if you can never draw a line in the sand I have no sympathy when they come for you. You didn't fight for others. Rayse might not be killing everyone, I still wouldn't want to live in a world of his design that is, in his words, substantially different from current Roshar. Perhaps some people aren't ok with the Singers being rulers over the humans? Perhaps some people would find that a more stratified version of the Lighteyed-Darkeyed divide and would rather reach a solution where the Singers have their own lands and reparations and both humans and Singers can live under a Pax Roshara.

@PleatherDuster Mild Cosmere Spoilers

You could get a resonance too as it’s only two powers. The right pick might produce some pretty dramatic results.

I think he’s a weapon in and of himself, a double edged sword that men unknowingly use. People seem to trust the Death Rattles, but what if they’re actively misleading people for Odium’s ends? It doesn’t even have to be a lie, just the right fragment of the truth could produce an incredibly skewed perspective. For example, if Taravangian were to hear “The Killer wearing white will take up the Judge’s Blade” long before Thaylen City’s battle, he might presume that Nale will be giving Szeth the Skybreaker Honorblade not Nightblood. From there he might take different actions then he normally would.
-
He does both I think but he’s ageless and regenerative as well (Long wob, relevant section in bold): That being said this thread is a memetic hazard. Excuse me while I bleach this cursed knowledge from my mind, some things were never meant for man to know.

Very cool! Well it is Brandon's brother's insert into the Cosmere: Brandon Sanderson [Aether of Night] is two halves of good books, kind of shuffled together. Half of this good book and half of this good book shuffled together. The Shakespearean farce, which is fun and, kind of silly, and this guy who's in not in a position to lead... and the deep worldbuilding war novel with the cosmere magic. And it's like, "We're going to shuffle these together and see how it turns out." Questioner I loved it. I thought it was good. Brandon Sanderson And my brother's cameo is in this book. Darro is named after my brother, Jordo. Barnes & Noble B-Fest 2016 (June 11, 2016)

I also think it’s a bit concerning how Khriss refers to fabrials in the Oathbringer Ars Arcanum:
-
Understating it a bit. Kelsier would never knowingly work for any noble. A Kelsier born on Roshar and sold as a slave after being betrayed by a lighteyed commander would be leading a resistance movement of lower Nahn darkeyes in a class/racial uprising. The closest he’d get to any Kholin would be slitting one’s throat. The nearest Rosharan main cast comparison to Kelsier is Moash, ironically enough. Moash has, of course, far too little charisma to be the magnificent bastard Kel is.

No. Hemalurgy is a horrifying system and I will be responsible for everything that follows. I cannot pawn off that responsibility for the inevitable atrocities. And who is going to even give me a chance to prove it? “Hey, turns out that this fictional magic from a book by Brandon Sanderson is real, I just need you to help me find a death row inmate or a homeless person to stake with a metal spik- Woah, woah! Why are you calling 911? No, I’m not crazy! Look just put down the phone, hey where are you going?!“ If I just go ahead and freaking murder another person by shanking them, the police aren’t going to interested in magic powers, they’ll just think I belong in the psych ward. Even the more visible powers like strength (which makes you progressively dumber and more violent like the Koloss), what do you think the cops will believe first? I’m a madman juicing heavily on steroids or that the murder weapon I’ve impaled myself with has a piece of soul that gives me magic muscles? Doubtful in my opinion. Hemalurgy requires intent and understanding, there’s a reason why even in the Cosmere it’s been mostly limited to Scadrial despite being a magic system usable by anyone anywhere. You need to know what Hemalurgy is and how it works, what metal you need to steal the correct trait, and the specific bind points out of hundreds each for both you and the victim. You can’t just do it by accident if Ruin isn’t guiding you.

I'd say this WoB is pretty relevant.

How do you feel about Cosmere technology?
Rorzikel replied to Frustration's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think it’s a matter of relevance. The knights radiant are dramatically reduced in importance when anti-aircraft guns come into play. Widespread use of Surge fabrials lessen their esoteric impact as well. -
Well, we know metalminds resist shardblades:

Would you say that Kaladin is intelligent?
Rorzikel replied to The Night Watcher's topic in Stormlight Archive
Oh I thought he was talking about real life. Thanks. -
Would you say that Kaladin is intelligent?
Rorzikel replied to The Night Watcher's topic in Stormlight Archive
How so? -
I’m guilty of doing this in the past. That being said, I can’t buy Elhokar’s death being a moral event horizon given we have the storming Blackthorn redeemed. If we had peeked in on Dalinar at an earlier part of his life without starting with him post-Nightwatcher and from a different pov a lot of people would hate him far more than Moash.

The strength and dexterity would also let you store greater amounts of health without being bedridden, you could rely on it to still be somewhat active in your life. Durability would prevent injury or risk of infection from a cut as well.

I think they were literal children of a shard after they ascended, perhaps each given a large splinter after the fact.

Will Nicrosil compounding make you like a Shardblade?
Rorzikel replied to Koloss17's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Brandon has said before that a metalmind could block the phase through effects of a shardblade (though it would still be a very sharp blade): I think a Nicrosil compounder would be kind of like their entire body was made of shardplate- resistant but capable of being damaged by the shardblades.- 7 replies

Personally, if it isn't Brandon, I'm not interested.

5th heightening plus gold compounding has already been mentioned so I thought I’d put a spin on it. I choose the 5th heightening and A-Pewter/F-Gold. Because pewter heals I can fuel the gold with an admittedly weaker yet still external health source as well as protect myself from wounds via durability. The added strength, speed, and balance are a plus as well.

Might be as simple as the actual contents of your mind, what gets preserved as a cognitive shadow should you be sufficiently invested.

Moash’s stabbing of Jezrien with the dagger had me thinking about Hemalurgy and the Heralds. Zinc steals emotional fortitude, if the heralds were given a zinc spike would they regain their senses and sanity?
-
It’s not important that he has recognizable powers, just the level of them to be considered divine. Rashek was able to Soothe a million people in Kredik Shaw, but even though the power is common enough amongst allomancers, the scale is shocking to Vin. Same with Feruchemy, if you see your own powers used without limit that will appear just as godlike not necessarily less.

Mania (or at least hypomania) can make you pretty productive and energetic, but, yeah, it can be unfocused and you might not care about the same things that you'd want in a depressive or normal mood state.
-
Let’s just say I have some similar problems to Kaladin. And that from experience I’d rather be some degree of manic. Essentially having a sliding bar is exactly what I want, gold or atium is nothing to me if I don’t want to live forever.
