Kinda wanna make a poll to tally up everyone who got Lightshaper so far, lol...

Oooh... I hadn't even considered that Khriss might interact so directly with a main character! Though it wouldn't be the first time...

Which Halfborn would be best at fighting Radiants?
Halyo_Alex replied to Frustration's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Oh storms, going for the mental battle over the physical one... Didn't even consider that. I could totally see rioting negative emotions being potent at breaking a Radiant's will... Not even just specifically Kaladin, riot the Radiant's Guilt and Sadness and the like and you'll probably be able to figure out an avenue of mind-games to demoralize them and possibly get them to break their bond. -
Heyo! Welcome to the club buddy.

The Potential Climactic scene of Book 4 (ch10 spoilers)
Halyo_Alex replied to Xerun's topic in Stormlight Archive
I feel like this, in some capacity, will happen. Perhaps not the True Ultimate Final Climax of the book, but as an incredibly important point, yes.- 1 reply

Which Halfborn would be best at fighting Radiants?
Halyo_Alex replied to Frustration's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That's what the half-coinshot would be good at combatting. Steel compounding and steelpushing to get up there in some capacity... Hm. Maybe a half-lurcher would be good too... Plate and Blade is too invested to Pull directly, but... Hmm... I could always just invoke my personal theory on Reverse Compounding and say that they could store enough Ironpull power in an ironmind to then tap in a huge burst that could overcome the interference of Plate and Pull them anyway, but that seems kinda like a cop-out answer. -
Proposal for a name for Mistborn/Full Feruchemist twinborns
Halyo_Alex replied to Frustration's topic in Mistborn
So speaking of this kind of combo, I'm curious as to what you all think the most powerful "extra" power would be for this. Would it be mistborn + bloodmaker, or full feruchemist + Augur? Or something else? If this is too different from the topic at hand I'll make a new thread to ask this. -
Oh, good, so I didn't misinterpret that.

It does have an "about" page. Edit: Ok after checking out the subreddit (the "forum" linked in the main page) I found a conlang for translating the random text into actual english sentences. This is actually super clever. You could even reverse this and type coherent english thoughts in the "random text language" of the Library anywhere, as a sort of encryption.
-
It's a website that uses math to generate text predictably but randomly; you can search for your name and find whenever those letters happen to line up, for example. Gimme a minute and I'll see if I can find it. Edit: Yep here it is: https://libraryofbabel.info/
-
But it would happen! Just like we could find the "real" Way of Kings in the Library of Babel IRL!
-
...In a universe where Shakespeare doesn't exist...
-
This is such a great mental image. Thank you.

I imagine it'd be something like the Library of Babel on the internet here on earth; randomly generated text that could, in theory, spell something meaningful, but probably won't.

allomantic metals around the cosmere
Halyo_Alex replied to Trutharchivist's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Still have an aluminum foil hat on that Singers will someday have metal with their gemhearts to make advanced Forms. Somehow, some way. Would that count as a bionic Singer? And yet Feruchemy is the Metallic Art with the 3 realms defining it's quadrants (and also with a mental/physical power flipped by mistake... I'm still mildly annoyed but it can't be helped now). Curious indeed... I think it might have to do with the source of the Investiture and the fact that Feruchemy is a Resonance of Preservation and Ruin's powers. It takes things from both Allomancy and Hemalurgy. 1. The investiture comes from the feruchemist's body, but not as a chunk of spiritweb (i.e hemalurgic spike), but a stream of it that returns to normal after storing ends. That's incredibly weird; how does the Feruchemist's body return to normal without tapping the power it just siphoned off? That doesn't conserve power at all. That's net-positive. 2. Many of the powers (not all of them though...) seem to be present in Allomancy and Hemalurgy too (Tin, I'm looking at you). Physical strength is an interesting outlier; Allomantically that's caused by Pewter, and hemalurgically it's done by Iron. ...But wait, Feruchemical Iron also modulates your strength so you can carry the immense weight (of gravity "pulling" on you) from tapping Iron. That's an interesting crossover. Copper in Hemalurgy steals memory, mental fortitude, and intelligence. Copper in allomancy hides allomantic pulses. Put them together and you get the ability to hide your memory inside copper. Copper feruchemy. I'm sure I could find other logical ways of blending allomantic and hemalurgic effects to explain at least a few more Feruchemical ones. -
I'm a very emotional kind of person, and reading this reminded me of how much I want to A. Punch the humans of Roshar in the face and B. how much I want to see Radiant Parshendi/Singers later on in SA. Lightweaverform is going to be so much cooler than any human Lightweaver. Singers are just so much better than stupid, boring humans. I want a gemheart... Sorry. Just haven't had a place to say those things before. Hope you don't mind...

Wait when was that specified? That's very interesting.

allomantic metals around the cosmere

Tin being "Internal Pulling" and yet enhancing your senses always stuck out like a sore thumb to me. Creating a Diminisher fabrial seems much more in line with that categorization. -
Who Else is Avoiding RoW Preview Chapters?
Halyo_Alex replied to ILuvHats's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'm too much of a theorist to be out of the loop with the rest of the forum, so I'm reading them as they come out. -
Agreed. I am curious about the specifics of it though. Maybe at some point we'll see Navani ask someone from bridge 4 at the third ideal to try it out.
-
Hang on, lemme grab some of the illustrations of Navani's notes on fabrials. Yep, here's the bit I was thinking of. Aaand it swallowed the picture i pasted. ONE SECOND PLEASE. Edit: HERE. https://coppermind.net/w/images/Navani1.jpg Top bit of that page.

Don't forget the cut of the gem in addition to the type. That's a fourth variable.

Well this was a pleasant surprise. Asked Brandon a couple of questions via Reddit PM and he answered within a couple days. One of those questions is of relevance to this topic, so I'll transcribe it here for y'all and include a screenshot of the original PMs for proof.

Sometimes the simplest answer is the most likely. I'm inclined to agree because it just requires fewer assumptions for the time being.
