  1. I mean just take a guess at what powers you want to exist and pick a metal, you'll probably get it wrong but how would we know
  2. Ok there's Countably Infinite* metals to choose from. *kind of
  3. Which means there's a metal that does anything you want.
  4. Ok yeah yknow what at this point I'll accept Infinity as the answer until someone gives us a definitive equation...
  5. I calculated that in the same calculator I used for the other one and got " 1.001764965 × 1019728 " Kinda small...
  6. "BUT I'M NOT DONE YET" "NOW THAT'S A LOT OF METALS" Rusts, I love my brain sometimes.
  7. Misting name (like Coppercloud) : "Masochist"
  8. "I'm a Bavadinium-Atium-Tanavastium-Tin Misting" "What's that do?" "Beats me"
  9. I looked it up, the total number of "particles in the entire observable universe" is about 3.28 x 1080 Chump change.
  10. Don't worry, I found the number and added it as an edit to my reply.
  11. Did you forget to make the 16 factorial with the "!"?
  12. Google calculator returns "Infinity" specifically. EDIT: FOUND A CALCULATOR THAT CAN HANDLE IT 1.8 × 106298387349264 ALMIGHTY AND HARMONY HOW STORMING BIG IS THAT
  13. In which case you might be able to get away with it by making a spike specifically designed to be mechanically separable (e.g. split in two) and then charging it, then splitting it and shaping it into the right pieces for a Blessing
  14. Or it could also be Ruin's "part" of the Mists that doesn't pull away from hemalurgy.
  15. This stuff is what makes me suspect that they may be Anti-tones/rhythms of each other. It might be that they're just barely not perfectly oppositely out of phase with each other, which is why Ettmetal can exist but it's unstable. Might this be why the byproduct of water-Ettmetal reactions has a "cosmere-wide" significance?
  16. Okay, that's fair. I mean... Ettmetal... Sorta does.
  17. ...Ohhhhhhh boy. Does that mean an Allomancer who can replicate that manually could breathe in the mists like Vin?? Also wouldn't that basically confirm that Ruin is the anti-investiture of Preservation, since Hemalurgy repels the Mists?
  18. Honestly I do agree that Ruin ought to be Change/Change, thermodynamics is the reason there's a particular "arrow of time" in the first place (things tend to go from orderly to disorderly and that's how our memories form; imagine if we remembered the future but forgot the past. That would be... really strange). So Entropy (ruin) is Change for the sake of Change. Cultivation is kind of tricky to pin down, but I think Change/Endure works because Cultivating something is cutting away the bad stuff to make the good stuff survive (endure). So you change an organism (or collection of organisms) to make it (them) more likely to persist. The rest of those look fine to me.
  19. It's also worth noting that the order matters, since there's a subdivision going on. So Change/Aspire isn't the same as Aspire/Change. One is in the Change quadrant, the other is in the Aspire quadrant.
  20. Yeah, this set really feels good in terms of labeling the 4 quadrants. But one idea I'm partial to is the idea of each Dawnshard then being used to further subdivide the quadrants into 4 more pieces, a second layer of Sharding compared to the 4 initial quarters. So for example Ruin could be defined as being the Change part of the Change quadrant, whereas Cultivation might be the Endure/Survive part of the Change quadrant. Honor might be Unite-Unite, Odium may be Unite-Change, or something else. These are just examples off the top of my head.
  21. I feel like she's replacing/filling the hole in a Deadeye's spiritweb with Odium's investiture in order to Enlighten them... Restoring what was taken by B-A-M's imprisonment causing Deadeyes to even be possible to begin with.
  22. what a title change, amiright?
  23. Not even the thought of reading SA 5 for myself has made me want to be a Cadmium Misting IRL and just time-bubble-hibernate until SA is released as much as wanting to see Tay's reactions to the book has. Convoluted sentence, yes, but it does the job...
  24. I definitely think the "tri-realmic + time" set of four is part of how you can divvy up the Intents of the Shards. I'm not sure if each Shard has an allomantic counterpart (i'd be very curious to see if a god-alloy with their associated metal has a particularly outstanding effect compared to the alloys with the other 15 base metals), since Brandon has stated that not every shard has an opposite as perfect as ruin/preservation are, meaning that a push/pull axis of reflection likely doesn't exist inside the 16 intents.
