  1. so how does she define a deity with a capital G? Also, greek and roman deities were basically superpowered immortal people - and those were worshiped as deities too. I think Jasnah's failing here is that since she doesn't have enough data to analyze, she is coming up with her own definitions of things she's never actually seen, and doesn't even believe in.
  2. How do you think Jasnah would feel when she finds out that she's wrong, and there is (was) a deity, and numerous underdeities (also known as shard things that are sort of like Valar)?
  3. I don't know if I would be able to ask her anything - I'd just be in awe. Though if I could, I'd ask her what happened to her (her catharsis).
  4. So in short to this conversation, you want either A ) suicide troops with massive hammers, B ) guns, or C ) enough kinetic energy focused at one point. Personally, I'd vote that creating some form of way to add a massive amount of force to a weapon blow is the way to go, maybe some form of system. perhaps add some form of heavy liquid down the shaft so when you swing it, it adds weight (and momentum). I'm pretty sure it's not my idea, but I don't know where it came from. It might be just a bit steampunk for Roshar, though, though we do seem to be going that way with fabrials and all. I suppose you could make the same argument against guns.
  5. You're welcome. I'm a bit of an artist myself, and seeing works like these...
  6. I think Shin are the remnant's of humans when they came to Roshar, and the Parshendi were already there. I don't think there is a connection, but I could be wrong.
  7. I meant the context. The Preface doesn't say what the book is about. Is it the novel oathbringer? Is it his life story, is it like WoKs,where Nohadon writes metaphorical ramblings about his adventures?
  8. What exactly is Oathbringer, though (what is the book that Dalinor wrote) about?
  9. I don't feel that animation would do it justice, though perhaps I've just never seen anything that's animated that is good. Still, while it might be hard to do some scenes if they were acted, it would be epic. Of course, if there were properly done animated, then have fun. (Things like Smaug were awesome while being animated, but it might be hard for such a grand endeavor.) Sorry this is rambly.
  10. It could just be her personality. Trust me - I would know. I'd be stingy with information even if there was no need, as it keeps people from acting when they shouldn't because they think they know everything that they need to but they don't.
  11. Shields - they won't break. Barring that, a wall.
  12. And gems aren't the only thing that needs to be mined for - though it is possible that most of societies needs for materials naturally found could be created by soulcasters.
  13. Great! At least the pattern isn't broken. OCD was kicking in.
  14. If anyone noticed, both Way of Kings and Words of Radiance were named after books inside of the books (yeah, it's a bit strange.) Therefore, the book really should have been titled Mythica, after the book on the unnamed. It has more relevance to the novel than Oathbringer, too. What's up with that?
  15. So why weren't more blades randomly found? It would make sense that many mining expeditions could randomly uncover a blade. And are you agreeing or disagreeing with me?
  16. did you do a count of glyphs/not glyphs on swords? that might be a rough indication combined with the sets of plates, which might answer your problem. One issue, if you look at the books, there are HUNDREDS of minor spren, not 20. That might be a technical issue.
  17. Yeah, I know that, I wanted to see if there was anything around that. Perhaps the timing worked out the other way (here was with Dalinor first), or maybe he could heal like Jasnah. Again, this is extremely far fetched.
  18. In Oathbringer, in the scene by Adolin's birth when Dalinor was drinking, one of his friends (I think his name was Bashin) "claimed to have seen half the world and wore a ridiculous hat" (it's quoted from memory, so it's just the general idea. In Warbreaker, there is a character named Parlin who likes hats. I know it's a REALLY tenuous connection, but any thoughts?
  19. It was great - and I'm still waiting for the Davriel Planeswalker - They ARE supposed to print one soon, for those who care.
