  1. That's a good theory! I was thinking that Dimtri might not be talking about his former classmates in that scene, but whoever has attacked him. Or even weirder, I was thinking that the stories would be kind of like what Fates originally tried. Claude's story would be more in line Birthright in tone, Dimitri's would be Conquest, but you'd go fully down the path of villainy, and Edelgard's would be a better mix - you're doing what needs to be done for the greater good and dragging those along with you to that good. ...I like your idea better. I'm not sure how many different character portraits each main character will have though...
  2. I'll play the first game to completion when the second one gets a release date and it's near that time. Edit: I don't dislike Zelda, It's just not my cup of tea. I liked Windwaker but that's the last one I really played. I'm just not good at puzzles, so I tend to stay away from games with them.
  3. Treehouse is starting off tomorrow with Three Houses. Annoying, but my afternoon could have been worse. And it's better than nothing.
  4. Agreed! I'm hoping Treehouse streams some gameplay! Maybe after what they're playing now (Ultimate Alliance 3), but I'm not sure...
  5. Wallpapers - because even the Knights Radiant need interior designers.
  6. Maybe it's referring to Honor's fate? How the people would feel "abandoned" by Honor's disappearance and death? Or maybe it'll happen in Book 5 or in the second arc. No idea!
  7. So probably between 25-40%, or after he finishes Part 2/ "the first book in the trilogy." Maybe mid-to-late July.
  8. This is difficult for me, as I feel we as an audience get caught up in what the technical effects of the Cosmere are and use that for theories. I'm not that technically minded, so I try to base my theories on the few patterns Sanderson has and the feel of the story and the characters rather than the magic. And my best theories are tinfoil (it's more fun that way). 1. The Set, Ghostbloods, and the Shadows on Threnody are connected. The Ghostbloods formed on Threnody via that ritual to become a cognitive shadow, eventually migrated to Roshar (for easy investiture? closer to the cognitive realm? I don't know), and The Set is a different branch on a different planet. What does this mean? No idea! My current off-shoot theory is that this is how Kelsier will get off-world. He will join (if he hasn't already) The Set in order to gain their power and resources and be the antagonist of Mistborn Era 3 and use that to help bring down Trell (maybe gaining Trell's power in the process?). He'll end up joining the Ghostbloods and leading them later, but that's too much tinfoil for now. 2. Hoid is connected with the Ghostbloods. In Oathbringer Hoid needed to get the letters out. So he leaves Jasnah after hearing what she knows, goes to the Ghostbloods to smuggle him off of Roshar and onto First of the Sun (which I still kind of believe is Obrodai - Patji starts to form in Stormlight's time and becomes fully formed by the time Sixth of the Dusk happens). In return Mraize (and the Ghsotbloods by proxy) gets an Aviar. All of this takes place offscreen in-between WoR and OB Part 1. 3. At some point a Radiant will ride a Larkin into battle. Larkins are the living equivalent of dragons on Roshar, Stormlight Archive is a reconstruction of the fantasy genre, one of the books that influenced Brandon the most is Dragonriders of Pern. Ergo, dragon riders on Roshar! Now, I have more tinfoil theories for Larkin but this isn't the time or place.
  9. In the short story The Traveler, wasn't it alluded to that he's trying to bring someone back from the Beyond or something like that?
  10. Seconded! I love wolves - they're my favorite animal - but the legendaries feel too close in design to some of the Gen 5 ones I believe, and are too similar in design to each other. I'm liking how the region is shaping, but I'm not sure how I'll like it as a whole yet. I was hoping for somewhere like Spain or an amalgamation of different African countries for a region. I hope they have a lot of new Pokémon!
  11. And hopefully the first book in Brian McClellan's new series/universe! I think he was working on a pitch for it, but if all goes well I bet it could come out next year too! And Django Wexler might have another book in one of his new series come out in 2020 as well. Or the first one. Not sure how far along he is in writing it (due to his YA fantasy series), but hey! I'll take it. But yeah, if all three come out 2020 might be one of the biggest/most important years in fantasy for a LONG time!
  12. Sarah J Maas' Crown of Midnight is a book I DNF'd. I started reading it because I was looking for a "strong female character" book and it was right around when I discovered Sanderson (I can't remember if I was looking for a heroine that satisfied my criteria like Vin eventually did that year, or a hero that copied what I found in Vin). The first one was fine. I could ignore the love triangle and I rolled my eyes at the MC, but continued on. The second one...I just had enough. She felt like the definition of Mary Sue to me. She's clearly the lost fairy princess or whatever, is the best assassin in the kingdom despite her never having to kill anyone (character shilling aka telling and not showing), everyone who knows her loves her, and it felt like she was right 99% of the time. I even tried picking it up a couple years later, and I couldn't get past two pages... The thing is though, I REALLY wanted to like this series. It's female written fantasy that's super popular. I wanted to see what others see in it. But I couldn't. I heard it gets a lot better after book 3, but I don't think I'll ever get there. Recently I put down Queen's Shadow. It's a Star Wars book following what happened to Padme after Episode 1, detailing her transition from Queen to Senator. Again, I wanted to like it, but I just couldn't get into it, and it ended up killing most of my motivation for reading new books since. I read Claudia Gray's Master and Apprentice, but I haven't read anything new since, and I feel bad about it. It's a slump, and I'll get over it, but it hurts nonetheless. Other books I've put down like OP originally intended...last year I started reading Lonesome Dove. But two young characters I really connected with were killed by a serial killer unceremoniously in the book, and something in me kinda broke, and I haven't had the urge to finish the book since. And it takes me months before I get back to another Malazan book, but that's more due to exhaustion and burnout from the journey than anything in the books themselves.
  13. WOOT WOOT PARTY TIME! Do you think he'll do another update soon, or will that be closer to 25-30%?
  14. Which means he's close to 20%, which is CRAZY, considering a little over 2 months ago he just started. Hopefully we'll get another update (my guess is at the 25% mark) before his tours in July. But even if he works at a pace of 10% per month (roughly 1% every three days, give-or-take), Sanderson still might not finish until January 2020.
  15. But he did anyways. So I could see him agreeing to this too. He, Harmony, and Kelsier all know that Scadrial is in danger. So they try to concoct a plan. Harmony's involves Wax, Kelsier's might involve the Set (or just waiting it out), and in this case Marsh plays both sides. He might not want Harmony's plan to fail, but given how Harmony is now I could see Marsh siding with Kelsier to push the world forward. Fair point there. I need to reread Era 1. Marsh also didn't like Kelsier propping himself up like he did. If Kelsier's long-term plan helps tear that illusion down, I could see him agreeing to it. Compassion and growth can go hand-in-hand with pain too.
  16. That would be a gut punch almost like no other. I love it! Sign me up for this theory! Maybe they think it's about separating Odium from Dalinar, but then they learn that because Dalinar has been so invested with Honor's power, all they need to do is push enough slivers of Honor into Dalinar so that the shards essentially fuse. In this scenario I can see Cultivation giving up her shard so that the plan can go through.
  17. Ends justifies the means. Marsh has always put the mission first. He did it when he agreed to work with Kelsier to take down Rashek, he agreed when he became an Inquisitor; why wouldn't he agree here. So long as the planet progresses and Harmony learns more about the threats outside of Scadrial via Kelsier (not sure he would, but I wouldn't put it above Kelsier to promise to pass of info), there's nothing to say he wouldn't agree. Harmony wouldn't agree, but that doesn't mean Marsh wouldn't either. Heck, Harmony didn't want Wax and his crew to learn about Hemalurgy, but Marsh had no problem with them knowing. And if things go where I think they might in Era 3, pushing humanity beyond reliance on deities (especially ones as fallible as Kelsier or as neutral as Harmony at the moment) - something that can be seen as hinted at in Era 2 - would definitely be something the brothers could agree upon.
  18. But if he's with the Set, then whether or not they fail he still wins. Kelsier's showboating always had a purpose other than just "praise me." In Era 1 he used it to give people enough hope and will to rebel. In Era 2 it was to inspire people to survive and help them do so. I think he'll do something of the same in Era 3, but for now he needs to build up a villain for society to take down, and that'll be the Set. But first he needs to build them to that point. But that's a story for another day. Overall it's just a theory.
  19. Because he knows he's really just a big fish in a small pond right now, even with his current capabilities. So getting off-world, seeing the bigger picture, and getting back at that jerk who beat him up are probably his main goals. Plus, being worshipped all the time probably sounded fun and was fun for a while, but I can imagine Kelsier getting sick of it eventually. The answer to both might be it's just too troublesome. Or he doesn't mind waiting until technology catches up. Or even scarier, he IS helping, by working with the Set.
  20. THAT. WAS. ADORABLE. In the future when I have kids I hope we can read Sanderson together!
  21. Oh yeah I forgot about Gavinor! You're right about that.
  22. Really excited about this, but I'm also confused. I think Sanderson mentioned on Reddit either this week or last week that Dark One was going to have an audiobook component too. I'm wondering if that's taking the place of the television show, will be in addition to everything else, will be the prequel books he's talked about writing, or something else like misspeaking or a secret he'd been planning he let slip. Regardless, if everything goes well for the Jordan estate and Sanderson, we could have a very, VERY fun and filled 2020.
