Yeah, the patent itself is so vague that it basically refers to any sort of server-side authentication. Also, like i mentioned previously, they don't appear to offer any actual product, so i don't see why they deserve someone else's money, just because they claim to have "thought up" server side authentication first (note: Highly unlikely)

linky So after deep consideration (5 minutes on the internet), i have come to the conclusion that this "Uniloc" company is a patent troll. IMO, as it stands, patent law seriously needs to be reevaluated, because in its current form it doesn't work at all with software. I have no problem with there being patent laws, but as they are, they do more harm than good for software, and in many instances are actively against change. What's everyone else think?

i was doing this before it was cool /hipster But seriously, i was doing this in anticipation for it back when the expected release date was like early 2012, so i was planning on being done by then, but i've had to stretch it out to make it last now. I'm up to knife of dreams, and i've been going into it off and on to try to make it last.

IMO, calling dead space a "horror" game is a bit of a stretch. It's more like a rather visceral action game with "gotcha" moments. What you SHOULD play is either Penumbra: Overture or Amnesia: the dark descent (as you mentioned above)

So this is pretty ancient by internet standards, and something many people have probably seen by now, but I figured i would post it here because a buddy of mine linked it to me recently, and every time i see it i can't help but be floored by the stupidity. agreed on the fact that it's nothing that anyone should need to get upset about. Up votes AND down votes happen. I myself have gotten some down votes on things that i felt are unwarranted, but that's kind of the problem with a fully anonymous feedback system, people can rate your posts for better for worse without any fear of repercussions. I assume that's a suggestion and not a command, since there's no rule against asking for upvotes (nor any rule against downvoting such a post), and nor should there be.

I agree with Shiv that the most likely reason is because some people don't like to see others ask for upvotes, but at the same time, it happens fairly often and, to my knowledge, i've never really seen it down voted, so i have no idea why this particular instance of it was deemed downvote worthy...

Looking pretty good, just missing a few pieces of information. You need your saves, and your initiative. You can calculate encumbrance if you want, but looking at what you have and your str, im relatively sure you're going to be at a light load. You can find the info on your base saves here. Should be +5, +0, +0 for you at level 1 Also, it doesn't like like you accounted for your studded leather armor in your AC. Studded leather provides a +3 to bonus to AC and flat footed AC, and a -1 armor check penalty (applies to any skills above marked with an * in the skill list) Encumbrance info can be found here Other than that, after a quick look over, i think you're ready to go.

yeah, but i havent heard anything from 'em in a while, so i dont know if they plan on actually forming up. As far as adding another player, i dont see why not. We're up to 5 or so, so we could do with another in this party. As for creating a character, there's a link in the resources thread to a blog post about creating a character. Read that over, and if you have any questions feel free to ask in like the "hear ye hear ye" thread, there's a few around here who know whats going on with D&D and can help.

From your position, all you can tel is that he is lying in a pool of his own blood. Strangely, the pool doesn't appear to be large enough to be death from blood loss, at least that you can tell from here. Other than the orc, nothing in the room appears to stand out.
