  1. I would like to announce that I am in Minneapolis for a business trip for a whole week! Also: the hotel i'm in totally has a full sized water park connected to it. O.o
  2. In Minneapolis for the first time for a business trip

  3. Never heard of it, but looking into it really quick, it looks like it was originally released as a serialized story on android/iOS, and the apps for them are still available. The android app, at least, appears to be free.
  4. well, no matter how big your convention is, renting out any sort of convention space is fairly expensive. Which is why it's better for it to be bigger rather than smaller. I'm not saying it'll never happen, just that it's honestly very unlikely to be any time soon
  5. i'm pretty sure it would be more than a "few" years away for that to happen. Conventions are big and expensive, and require a lot of backing in a fan base. Sanderson, though popular, is likely not popular enough to have a convention dedicated to him yet. I mean, heck, jordancon didn't start until 2009 (well after jordan's death) and is for one of the most currently popular high fantasy series. It would be cool for there to be one, but i honestly don't see one happening in the near future. Heck, AFAIK, there isn't even a stephen king convention, and he's considered one of the most popular modern-day writers.
  6. The dream has almost been realized! (FYI, i think you answered the wrong question. seems you forgot to flip to the second page ) I would rather scale a building with my hands and feet, because then, at least, i'm in control of my own fate. Would you rather have all universal knowledge (that is, know everything) and unending poor health or a lifetime of perfect bodily health and complete stupidity?
  7. Not trying to argue or anything, but from an etymological stand point, wouldnt "pescatarian" infer that you eat a diet solely composed of fish? Sort of how a "vegetarian" implies a diet of only veggies? (because "pesca" likely being derived from the latin word for fish, piscis) Which should make it sort of like a diet of a piscavore (carnivore who eats only fish). I mean, in pop culture, it likely does mean someone who eats vegetarian + fish, but just from the word structure, if someone came up to me and said they were a pescatarian, i would assume they ate only fish. Honestly, up until now, i've never heard that word before.
  8. Awards are rewarded by the admins for whatever they see fit to reward someone for. If you look at some of the existing rewards, you can probably get an idea of what they're for/how to do them. Other than that, there's reputation, which is fully community driven. Anyone can upvote or downvote any of your posts anonymously, so if you post plenty of things people like, your rep will go up. (or down if you post things that people dont like )
  9. Ignore what windrunner says. He's actually just trying to put a positive spin on it. What it actually means is that he's going to be used as hemalurgic spike fodder. Then probably banned for infinity-million years. Because that's how we roll around here. You can trust me! I'm a global mod! that means i cant lie*! *- Too much
  10. This is pretty awesome.
  11. I would like to announce that i got offered a full time position at the company i currently contract at. With a pay raise on top of benefits! (different position than what i do now, though)
  12. I agree with this. Any chance of being able to procure these dice outside of gencon?
  13. Sold! I'll take one Issac Stewart, please.(i wish i was going to gen con )
  14. Yup, it's most likely this. Cookies are how things like this keep you signed in.
  15. Yup, usually 1-2 days is about how long it takes for it to fully propagate, in my experience.Edit: and within minutes of posting that, it populates on the DNS servers we use here at work, as if only to prove me wrong....
  16. Monsta?! Who let you in here?! Anyways, my favorite book is easily the hitchiker's guide to the galaxy. Adams was an amazing writer. Yup, that's it from me. No long rant or anything.
  17. Don't worry, i'm only mean to those who i think are awesome!! Which means every time i make fun of you it should be taken as a compliment!
  18. I'm going to go ahead and assume you had this kind of braces.
  19. I've generally only heard positive things about it. However, it's rumored that samsung will be launching a galaxy note 2 very soon, so you could either hold out for that to get it, or to see if that makes the price on the note 1 drop. The only negatives i've heard about it are people complaining the screen is too big for them, which is a personal preference thing. If you have a store for your carrier near you that has it on display, that would be something i would recommend you go check out in person to make sure it's sized appropriately.
  20. Heh, that's the exact same reason my mom only buys organic. And as stated previously, she thinks the medical community is out to keep everyone sick. Honestly, i've given up arguing with her over the issue(s)
  21. Would be nice, but my assumption is they're likely to just hit the major markets at first, and possibly not even go further than that. So they they got KC in the midwest, so next would be like new york, somewhere in florida, houston, chicago, LA, and things like that. At least that's pretty much what my gut feeling tells me My fingers are crossed, though
  22. It sounds like your parents share a lot in common with my mom. Important things like vehicle maintenance are "too expensive" to spend money on, but other things like expensive "organic" foods, all sorts of fake/dumb/whatever alternative medical things (i've been to a spirit healer like you mention before. Biggest waste of money EVER. I was appalled to learn what she spent on that. For whatever reason, she thinks all of modern medicine = quackery, but a $20 bottle of super-lotion that heals cancer? It's just covered up by the government and really works!) and the list goes on. If i bring it up to her, she basically says that "i don't know what i'm talking about", and implying her wisdom because she is older. So I can empathize with some of the stuff you mention pretty well
  23. so....i'll meet you in KC then, roomie? (note: this could totally sway me to move to KC at some point. Like easily)
  24. Yeah, i know, right? 70 bucks is like 10 bucks more than i'm paying for 12 mpbs. So for 10 bucks, i could get roughly 80x my current connection speed? I would be totally game. You also get a free nexus 7 if you sign up for the TV package.
