  1. I've finished Slaughterhouse 5. What a fantastic story! The way Vonnegut plays with perspective is fascinating. Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrel continues to impress. I'm taking this read nice and slow.
  2. I read physical copies, preferably paperbacks, I find hardbacks uncomfortable to hold. Reading anything electronically hurts my eyes. I like the IDEA of audiobooks but I've never come across one I actually enjoyed listening to.
  3. Might I recommend Hellstar Remina or just any other works by Junji Ito?
  4. I believe McClellan was once a student of Brandon's at BYU.
  5. I've finished Mort. The plot was a little unfocused which led to a weakish conclusion but that hardly matters. The characters were all very likeable and it was (of course) well written with some wonderful jokes. Anything with Death is a pure delight. (A sentence I didn't expect to ever need to write.) I'm continuing Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. It's such a wonderfully crafted story. Furthermore, I'm partway through Slaughterhouse 5, it's a little out of my usual choice of reading but it is truly phenomenal.
  6. I have finished Good Omens and I am about 120 pages in Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell and I am enjoying it immensely. I've also started Mort (Discworld), Slaughterhouse 5 and Lud-in-the-Mist.
  7. My apologies, It was not my intent to suggest you (or any other fan) was at fault. If I have caused any offence the fault is upon me. Your opinions are your own and you have every right to be concerned about how Endgame will resolve. I'd forgotten about the Deus Ex Machina at the end of Age of Ultron so Marvel isn't unfallable :). I agree Captain Marvel's release is timed poorly, all I meant to suggest was that I'd assumed that the writers at Marvel would understand the basic concept of conflict enough and wouldn't go over the same mistakes. Looking back over the my previous post I can see how poorly worded it was. I hope we can resume discussing this movie without anyone feeling anyone else is slinging metaphorical chull dung at one another*. Again, sorry! *Did that sound corny? I'm not used to talking on the internet.
  8. I've personally never understood this concern people seem to have. I've always thought the directors and writers would be competent enough not just to use CM in this manner. My speculation is that in the end the gauntlet is given to CM for safekeeping, like Adam Warlock in Infinity Gauntlet, CM established that Danvers can hold infinity stones.
  9. I've always thought an anime style of animation would best fit the cosmere as a whole. Warbreaker and Elantris as miniseries and Stormlight and Mistborn as tv shows. The use of animation could also better integrate the internal monologues which are so essential to the characterisation of Brandon's characters. Yes animating Spren would be time consuming but I feel they'd feel better integrated into the world that way.
  10. That's wonderful to hear. Do you read much fantasy beyond Sanderson?
  11. Welcome to the Shard! Handle any cookies offered to you with care. What is your favourite Sanderson novel?
  12. I got 88% on my literature creative!
  13. That's two of us then that don't exist in two layers, then.
  14. I've started Good Omens and Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrel. They're both really good so far.
  15. Sounds like massive dumps of exposition to me. However I can see it working potentially.
  16. Just came back from seeing the film, it was relatively enjoyable. Better than Aquaman certainly.
  17. Funnily enough, I've nearly just finished my first Pratchett book, Small Gods. It's a wonderful book. I've also just finished The Gigantic Beard that was Evil. It may be one of the finest comics I've ever read, and I mean that unironically. I'd highly recommend both books.
  18. I agree, it transforms the magic into something incredibly dangerous to use. How much agency to the demons have and what is their relationship to the Wielders?
  19. Left handed people in real life were forced to write with their right so I'd imagine the same thing in Roshar.
  20. I'd be interested in giving it a look. Perhaps you'd like to join the Writer's Guild as well?
  21. You know they say chivalry is dead. OH MY STORMS CHIVALRY IS A SHARD
