  1. They don't create the powers at all. Magic systems simply come about when a Shard Invests on a planet- this unavoidable. The planets sorta choose the powers, is what it seems like. What the Intent does have influence on is the method of using these powers. Surgebinding comes from bonds (Honor), Allomancy gives you extra power so you preserve your own (Preservation), and so on.
  2. No. Surgebinding didn't exist on Ashyn, because it was a different planet. Different planet = different magic system. They used a similar enough system that the Singers could say they used Surges
  3. Well; the Heraldic immortality comes from them being cognitive shadows, which isn't something unique to Roshar
  4. If a society was okay with Hemalurgy, would Skybreakers like Nale, who follow the law of the land they are in, not be okay with it?
  5. I mean. It might be more of a back half deal. Herald flashbacks/focus in books 6-10 and all that. I'm under the impression that Book 4 is going to be highly singer-focused
  6. Hey! I'm currently outlining a novel, with not a lot actually written down, but I do have a rough draft of the prologue, so I decided to share it with you all. Enjoy the prologue to Bloodless! (It's in a google doc bc of formatting and one bad word ) https://docs.google.com/document/d/1N79Sh2VmfSnUdtugzzcmeJKHJxXbCkWZuGV0kXn-KcA/edit Enjoy! Tell me what you think!
  7. (current) Worldhopping isn't FTL travel, it's walking through the Cognitive Realm. In Era 4, maybe, when people have the FTL spaceships, sure. But not currently.
  8. He's like (Stormlight)
  9. Danzi stumbles in, hastily pulling out a chair and sitting down in it.
  10. I posted this a few days back but it never got approved.
  11. It could be the whole "Reinterpretation theory" where Kaladin exemplifies Tanavast's idea of "Honor" but Dalinar sees it in a different light. It's why I think if he does reassemble Honor, he'll become Unity and alter the Shard's direction.
  12. We know that the Iriali came later, but besides that everyone (that's a human) is a descendant of the Ashynites
  13. Not sure why an all powerful deity would have anonymity as an important part of their personality
  14. Name: Danzi Physical Characteristics: A tall Azish woman with long, dark hair and yellow eyes. Wears a brown robe with many Azish religious symbols in a pattern on it. Investiture: Stoneward of the First Ideal Skills: A skilled potter and a fairly good runner. Equipment: A sack of spheres and a steel dagger Weakness: Quite fragile, and can be overly compassionate towards those in need, which gets her into danger. She also takes things really literally and has trouble with jokes. Family: She doesn't know her biological family, but she considers her pottery teacher to be her father of sorts Home Planet: Roshar Backstory: Danzi lived her early life as a street rat in the slums of Azimir, before she was taken in by a potter named Parawan. She quickly became his apprentice, and carved out a small name for herself. Eventually, she attracted the notice of a Stoneward Spren named Bamir. Danzi solidified her bond with Bamir when she, despite her fragility, defended a young boy from being beat by an Azimir noble, saying the First Ideal. A few days later, Danzi found a strange fabrial. She activated it, and was teleported to the Alleyverse. Personality: Protective of those close to her to an almost scary degree, and has equal contempt towards those who harm her or her friends. Despite this, she can come off as cold or brooding. Fighting Style: Be slick, get in a few stabs, back out, repeat

  16. There's other, more interesting mysteries to be entirely honest
  17. Isn't the Windrunner resonance getting a lot of squires?
  18. We're not sure. They seem to involve softening or hardening materials but we're not sure what they do exactly.
  19. Kalak and Nale were with Elkohar, although Elkohar didn't know who they were.
  20. I mean I'm not sure if the process being painful is a lie, but who knows. The answer will probably come in the Elantris sequels in like six years.
  21. I don't think the Oathpact breaking was what specifically killed Honor. It was slow, and I think Odium still killed him directly
  22. I think it's a (Dragonsteel I guess)
  23. Just... make pewter medallions?
