Him being a Kandra would mean that a Kandra were to adopt human form, but then weakened its camouflage without need by doing something ordinary humans are not capable of. The same goes for a Sleepless or a dragon. Any shapeshifter doing this would be either stupid, arrogant or desperate. The stupid part clashes with him being in Lasting Integrity or in Shadesmar at all. It is not a benign environment for the stupid to survive in. Ig he were arrogant, why would he lower himself to checking on a few statues?

Having let the whole book settle a bit I thought I'd go on record with my impressions before I start a reread. I liked Oathbringer more The plot line with Kaladin felt a bit bloated and predictable. Kaladin felt like a man marching towards a glorious end. He should either have died in this book or found a rational way to beat his opponent.. In terms of plot twists this book is nevertheless at the very top so far The Pursuer was a waste. Build him up just to waste him. Kaladin going berserk felt too much like a deus ex machina twist. It is a transitional piece. It really felt like setting a stage and ended on two cliffhangers. The only really full plot line was the expedition to Lasting Integrity.

It is nice to see some frank contrary posts. Do you think that fans split in two camps, those that prefer the later half of SA and those that prefer the first half?

Felt is a Ghostblood Agent [Discuss]
Oltux72 replied to Kingsdaughter613's topic in Stormlight Archive
A good case for Felt being an agent from Scadrial. But not particularly good for him being a Ghostblood. Him may just as well be in Harmony's employ. In fact, isn't Felt a minor noble? By some theories that would be a problem in joining the Ghostbloods. -

Parade Moash right before Navani's eyes? The problem with that is that he is at the mercy of the other side's discipline. -

Nightblood is a devastating melee weapon. Range is not its strength. And it also is not a weapon you can use for long. Szeth against a Regal bearing Yelig-Nar and a nullifier fabrial for example looks very bad for Szeth.
-
He has no Plate and Odium's champion may carry one of the nullifier fabrials. If he wore a set of dead Plate, he'd be unable to lash.

Wow, look a volcano next to a lake! Wouldn't it be fun if it blew its top of, so that it slid into that lake? I want to see the wave! These qualities should terrify you in a being of those power levels. There is nothing you can do about it. With Honor, there are rules. Just obey them. It may not be fun to live under him, but it is survivable. Mercy, you break a leg, and the Shard may make sure you don't suffer ... ever again. Or you want to hang a mass murderer. Mercy is not happy. Those Shards are not as much trouble as Ruin or Odium, but there are really no good news. Dark humor is like food. Not everybody gets it. -- Wrongly attributed to Stalin. Again, what people or gods find funny is kind of unpredictable. Stability is underrated. What you thought about Tom & Jerry or Wily E. Coyote is probably not what the protagonists would think or experience.

If they could do that, why is a Lightweaver so valuable? If this is a Lightweaving on the other end, it pretty much implies that the conection is not to a Ghostblood member.

That Mraize had mentioned Thaidakar in person, while sending her on that very mission. Of course, it could have been a Lightweaving, but how did he know the need existed? Vin?

The face was shown. Before Mraize knew that the box had been opened. Yes. A hypercompetent operative falling for a trick that goes back to the Bronze Age?

Even more so if you kill the Shard that likes and encourages conquerors. And Honor has inspired the Skybreakers. Why Mercy may have a problem with Honor is obvious.

Key of Wrath Odium shall be set free and the Blackthorn is the key of his ire.

If you cannot be sure that it was Mraize then you are sure of almost nothing. That Shallan talked with abother Ghostblood is a guess. In fact, how sure are we that the box Shallan took to Shadesmar was the original? We don't even know that the dagger was the real thing. Shallan did not use it. The only other thing we really know for sure is that whoever was on the other end of the conversation had a Seon. Even that it showed Mraize's face means nothing. Several parties on Roshar alone are capable of Lightweaving. Alternatively there may be a way to make a Seon transmit a false image.

The Returned are not the only immortals on Nalthis. The corporal living people of the fifth heightening are also immortal. And they must be more numerous than the one immortal being operating with the metallic arts.
-
The problem of memories applies to all immortals, including those of the fifth heightening.
-
Alternate explanation - it was not Mraize on the other end of this conversation.

The Fifth Heightening and its effects are well documented. Even Khrissalla wrote about it. The Returned have been known for centuries.

Should he? Isn't "Be preserved!" a promise?

On Cultivation's Intent restricting her moves against Odium
Oltux72 replied to mawaschwa's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yes. Cultivation is not Preservation. She can kill, she just cannot destroy. If she needs to clear a forest to plant fields, she can do that if the fields are better. She can prune and weed. She likely would not even have a problem with a conqueror. He is replacing the weaker with the stronger. Just punitive expeditions that only leave scorched earth are not her thing. The thorns are included in her domain. -
The Shard is Mercy, not Peace. Have you considered how to run a justice system under that Shard? And obviously such a Shard is quite opposed to Harmony, as it is opposed to Honor. The first one who would let you suffer the consequences of breaking your actions and the other one wh have you punished for breaking rules. Even Cultivation clashes. What if you do not grow. Cultivation prunes and weeds. I think "we killed you" was literal and his partner was Mercy, as with Ambition.

Dangling Plot Threads - What Will We Find In Book 5
Oltux72 replied to Crylorenzo's topic in Stormlight Archive
They didn't just dismantle. I am sorry, but that makes no sense. If they were so unified and afraid of that, they surely would not have abused this possibility. Where they about to collectively go mad? Why? If they were just worried about the next generations, the Spren could have just stopped bonding new Radiants. The method they chose shows that the Recreance was either extremely urgent or had to happen synchronously, as far as they could tell. -

Do you think that there are temporary arcane arts in the Cosmere?
Oltux72 replied to Oltux72's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Not really The bond is breaking due to the death of one of the symbionts. Sand Mastery is a bit like that. You form a temporary bond to control the sand. But you still need an initiation. Not everybody is a Sand Master. Yet it is still sort of permanent. Once a Sandmaster you stay one unless you do something stupid.
