  1. Why don't Voidspren lose their mind when the enter the PR? Where is this colony of Terris people Axindweth came from? Is she dead? Where do forms of power come from? What is Voidbinding? Is Canticle a protoype of Braize? Or a more advanced form? Why did Hoid bring a Dawnshard to Roshar? What does Retribution mean for the Knights Radiant? Can oaths stil be sworn? Is the Nightwatcher dead? What does this mean for the economy of the Cognitive Realm? I doubt that Nalthis can compete against Spren. Roshar has just lost Soulcasters. How much of the population will starve?
  2. Ending a two day reading binge. I found this an odd book in a good sense. Large parts of the book did not really have much of a plot, respectively their plot did not matter. And this book is highly philosophical. In fact, it reminds me of Starship Trooper in a very abstract sense. Parts of the book read like a treatise against utilitarianism. I am happy that Brandon had the courage to let Odium win. I could have lived without a child champion. In fact for a fleeting few seconds I was convinced that we were really seeing Elhokar. This is really the end of an era.
  3. It is out in Europe as an e-book.
  4. Those people presumably still wielded the dawnshards. Hence all bets are off.
  5. Dalinar refuses to take up Honor Ba-Ado-Mishram ascends due to a peace deal with Dalinar There is a violent breakup between Hoid and Jasnah Sigzil picks up a Dawnshard and a temporal alliance between Hoid and the Sleepless take him to Silverlight Dalinar bonds Sja-Anat
  6. The Heralds are Cognitive Shadows. The question when they are to be considered dead is a philosophical one. They most likely need a minimum of Investiture to sustain human cognitive abilities. But there is possibly a range where they in a sense still exist but don't have enough Investiture to sustain their personalities and memories.
  7. Adolin will be in Azimir. It seems to me that he will lack the necessary physical proximity, as opposed to Iyatil's spren, who is now in the Spiritual Realm.
  8. Maybe. The name may be built on the "adoda" root for light. That can be seen as a simple conflict of interest. The other Shards want Odium to be confined to Roshar. Cultivation alone would suffer the cost of that. There is no reason to go for Intents or moral reasoning here.
  9. With important people drawn into the Spiritual Realm looking for Honor, the serious possibility that somebody will ascend to Honor has arisen. Let's take a poll.
  10. The problem with that assumption is that the elimination of the pursuer very much looked like a weapons test. Do you really need to urgently retest a weapon after you've killed a Herald with it?
  11. (The Sunlit Man) Hence I conclude that there's at least a second dawnshard on Roshar and it is in the Shattered Plains. In fact it may be the reason and the means by which they have been, well, shattered.
  12. Nalthis. The Dark side of Taldaine. Scadrial in the middle of an apocalypse. Gavilar's wars. The Shin conquests. The Lord Ruler's conquest of Northern Scadrial. The Fjordell invasion of Arelon. These wars have diverse origins. In the case of Hallandren invading Idris, we are outright told that the cause is economics.
  13. Does this need to be complicated? He needed somebody to unite Roshar. Gavilar already ruled a good party of Roshar.
  14. This would imply that Dalinar would know what a delay would mean. Time being different in the SR would seem to preclude that. That is the central question. Why don't the bondsmiths just return? Going by the blurb they go on to seek out the shard. Why?
  15. I am afraid this idea has one core issue. Why did the spren cooperate? And why would this affect the Skybreakers negatively even after it was done?
  16. (Scadrial) What I find fascinating about Jasnah is her wish to replace herself with an elected official, while her progress on her oaths and strengthening the Knights Radiant creates the nucleus of a theocracy.
  17. Soulcasters are a ticking bomb with respect to technology anyway. If she wants to soulcast a pebble into pure Einsteinium, she can. All that prevents her is knowing that that element exists.
  18. Fascinating idea. But what specifically did they fear?
  19. Something dramatic must be happening at the conclusion of Wind and Truth, because The Lost Metal mentions dangers Something must remain for the second half So lets look at the very worst case. The obvious option here is that Dalinar is lost in the Spiritual Realm, forfeits and Odium is set free. Can we do worse? I am glad you asked. Of course we can. In fact I can offer two scenarios. Honor is splintered for real and the splinters are running rampage through Shadesmar. We can even make this dark. The Kholins cannot just return to Urithiru The Kholins indeed find Honor Gavinor ascends Gavinor smites Moash, thus violating the pact between Shards Odium and Cultivation strike Honor is splintered in a spectacular way Or alternatively The Kholins cannot just return to Urithiru Honor has been attracted to a large source of Investiture acting honorably fighting for her people The Kholins make a mistake Ba-Ado-Mishram is set free She ascends
  20. The people uttering the rattles are not speaking English. The English feature of not having a simple word with the meaning "human being" or "adult human being" is not universal.
  21. Which thoughts? Those about what might have been? Well, yes. No. If they were always listening they already knew that Honor has not been splintered and where to find it. That is the true bombshell. Odium surely has a way to get into the Spiritual Realm. I suppose because the perpendicularity Nightblood collapsed was not in the process of being used to travel to the Spiritual Realm. Not really. He can do whatever Lift is ready to tolerate. Adolin is a trained military officer. Though you are raising three points Whom is Lift going to tell about the deception? Do the Radiants know what collapsed the perpendicularity? Adolin is now Jasnah's heir.
  22. By that logic everybody is a child of Adonalsium Again, why would Cultivation keep Odium on Roshar?
  23. What would be the point of a new Oathpact? The Parshendi are free. Kaladin is not going to massacre them. The point now is to end the cycle of Desolations.
  24. We just saw Lift wanting to set Odium free. Once the knowledge that Odium has changed vessels spreads, that option should look more attractive. A native of Roshar is not going to destroy Roshar. Have we witnessed the beginning of the split between Hoid and the Radiants?
  25. Could the crown be Gavinor? He could claim that he is the lawful king of Alethkar.
