  1. The more popular your post is, the more times people will click the upvote button, which is shaped like an up arrow. This implies that your post is popular. The more upvotes you get, the higher your “rank” will become.
  2. Welcome to the shard! A lot of the information you need in books can be found in Mistborn Era 2, Stormlight Archive (my personal favorite), and arcanum unbounded. However, I would say that a majority of the information we have on the cosmere comes from what we call WOB’s or “Words of Brandon”. These are quotes from Brandon at signings, conventions, etc. They can be found at wob.coppermind.net. The “Arcanum” link at the top of the page also takes you there. The coppermind or coppermind.net stores most of the information we have on individual topics. Beware, however, that these websites contain spoilers for books you haven’t read yet. Same goes for this website. Anyway, welcome!
  3. If Dysian Aimians are able to use medallions in this way, once Scadrial interacts with them in MBE4 information should be able to be communicated and distributed almost instantly. I doubt there will be a naturally born Dysian compounder, but if they were to share their memory with a compounder using a medallion, then that compounder could then share the info. I imagine that would be remarkably helpful for communications between FTL spaceships.
  4. This would be a very useful skill, not necessarily to yourself, but definitely to others. As the use of Aluminum and Nicrosil medallions become more common in Scadrial, if copper compounding gave you the ability to store the same memory in multiple copperminds, then this could be used in great effect to share memories with large amounts of people. I imagine this skill would be greatly valued at in-world universities, or places like Silverlight.
  5. I believe in one of the Szeth Interludes of WoK (Either interlude 3 or 6) he says that the shin sent him on his way with an honorblade, and would recover it when he died. (paraphrased)
  6. Do we have any numbers on Steelrunner speeds, or how much flared bendalloy can compress time?
  7. Granted, but you can't use or share them. I wish to possess every boon given thus far.
  8. This is a given reason. @Diamondbolt
  9. If this happens and he gets really into it, there will be a section about the people at silverlight who want their name recorded in the histories of the respective worlds.
  10. Ah yes, that's another possibility. Others have argued that Szeth, while training with the skybreaker squires, may have attracted and bonded a highspren, similar to the process Teft underwent.
  11. 1.) My mistake. 2.) Unsure of your reasoning on that point, as Szeth has access to the surges of Gravitation and Division, and was asked by Nale to train as a skybreaker. As far as I could tell, Nale wasn't especially welcoming of other proto-radiants*, so Szeth must have bonded a highspren. *Citation: Nale has murdered or attempted to murder a considerable amount of the radiants we've seen. Edit: Spellcheck corrected "Nale" to "Name"
  12. I believe in Oatbringer, when Szeth is conversing with Nale, he claims to feel a spren that he had bonded. My personal theory is that before he became truthless, he bonded a highspren, which either directly or indirectly led to him being Truthless. As Truthless, he somehow "killed" this spren in a fashion similar to Kaladin and Syl, but his swearing oaths at the Purelake has since revived his spren. This is what provides him access to the surges of Division and Gravitation. This topic covers this somewhat: Edit: Found the quote: Also changed Honorspren to Highspren at behest of @Ark1002
  13. Strange, earlier it appeared you posted the same topic twice, but now I can only find this. Either the other was deleted by a mod or I was wrong. Sorry if I caused any confusion.
  14. Given you've had three days, I'd say your turn is probably over. @Snipexe @I am a STICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! @Herowannabe Can we get confirmation?
  15. 1.) Why do you assume Ishar is going to die? 2.) Why do you assume Szeth and Kaladin will become new Heralds, or if that is even possible? 3.) Even if this was so, why would Szeth, a Skybreaker, become a herald of the bondsmiths?
  16. I believe the Stormfather said something along the lines of "Odium does not mind the loss of time, but to humans it is the most valuable thing." That may be phrased completely incorrectly. Regardless, I doubt Odium would negotiate with Cultivation in the first place. He seems to believe that he will win the fight for Roshar, and if he doesn't he can simply keep waiting. However, since the Heralds are functionally immortal, and that they have stopped many desolations, preventing their return/aid them should be one of Odium's top priorities.
  17. Odium's end goal is to splinter Cultivation, so making a deal would be tough. In the words of Ronalsium Reagan, "We will not negotiate with hatred incarnate"
  18. Yes, but the Heralds and the Oathpact do make up a part of the bondage. Splintering Cultivation will obviously play a large part in Odium's long-term plans, but I believe the capturing the Heralds in the perfect gemstones will aid in either releasing him or winning the battle for control of Roshar. Even if Odium was simply eliminating the Heralds to undermine the religion of the Rosharan people, the loss of the Heralds will have a decidedly negative impact for Roshar. The Heralds were massively powerful, being able to "glow like the sun, wield the Honorblads and speak with the voices of a thousand trumpets. They could cast down buildings with a command, force the storms to obey, and heal with a touch," according to Shallan. Their power and experience, if the Heralds somehow were healed of their madness would be able provide a great amount of aid against Odium's forces. Being able to eliminate this possibility and somehow aid in crippling his bondage would seem to be a logical next step to Odium's plans.
  19. Did you intentionally post the same topic twice? If so, well played.
  20. This may have been theorized before, but I haven't seen it yet so here goes: Wob's have shown the oathpact isn't broken: We also know that Odium has been trapped on Braize, and his bondage has something to do with the oathpact: My theory is that Odium will attempt to get free by destroying the heralds, and consequently, the Oathpact. To do so, he will use perfect gemstones that correspond to each Herald. (Sapphire for Jezrien, Heliodor for Ishar etc.) I believe he is obtaining said gemstones from the cognitive realm, where spren use them to store stormlight, but they could also come from the stone of ten dawns, which would correspond to the ten heralds. Regardless, I believe Odium will attempt to use Vyre's knife to eliminate all of the heralds, storing their investiture/souls in perfect gemstones. This also adds to the theory that Vyre's knife is a dawnshard "known to bind any creature voids or mortal," as the knife may "bind" the herald in the perfect gemstones, which has been implied as possible by Brandon. TL;DR: Odium is using perfect gemstones to bind the heralds, which will help to end the oathpact, freeing him.
  21. A green “chicken” would improve it dramatically.
  22. All goats are equal, but some goats are more equal than others edit: 2^8th post
  23. You can definately store investiture in the spike, but I doubt you could retrieve it easily.
