  1. Frostbourne's right, the Chasm is included with the Arena. The map of the Glyph Cavern is practically identical to the above one for the Waterfall Cavern, except that the only exit is back into the Waterfall Cavern (or through the Balcony, but I doubt you'll be using that). EDIT: I fixed an error in one of my forge posts. I thought you got six weapons in a Soldier Form, but you actually get five, so I changed the order number to ten. Cuaiir, you say that you get four weapons from a Soldier, but that's incorrect. I don't know whether you intended that or not.
  2. Thanks for letting me know, Som1. I've been reading The Hunger Games for most of the day, so I haven't been online. Hey, Typhoon! Nice to see new people. If you want to join there's an application for you to fill out in the intro to the Story Topic. If you could fill that out and post it in the Discussion Topic, that would be great. Here's the Story Topic. Seeing as this is a general intro thread as well, how did you find Brandon's work?
  3. We're not friends already? D: This must be fixed. I love this girl! Her covers aren't just covers; she puts a melancholy spin on things that I just find delicious, like dark chocolate for hearing.
  4. Don't forget Phineas and Ferb! (totally awesome) Anime I like. Death Note, Nanoha, and I've seen some of Naruto, thought that was pretty good. I've been meaning to watch Neon Genesis Evangelion, and a few others. It's true, anime seems to just have more variety than everything else. Where other mediums tend to focus on certain kinds of stories, anime just does everything; it's a little ridiculous.
  5. GAR. I keep forgetting little things like that! Cuairr, that is EXACTLY how it works. And that's because you did your homework on it. Good job. (note: I had inclination about the physics of it beforehand) Slight addendum. The glyph barrier shifts during matches, creating a wall between the arena and chasms and the audience area.
  6. I'm not saying anything except that it does come up a little bit in Alloy...just a tad.
  7. Sorry, Emeralis, Coma, I totally forgot about your stuff! I put up a post for you guys!
  8. "Ready!" The two of you start to shift into your Forms, light flooding the arena, contrasting with the blue glow of the glyphs all around. "Set!" The lights start to fade. But something seems...off; not what you expected. "GO!" A roar of flames whooshes through the air. Veronica's skin is covered in fire, trailing away from her skin like bright red Stormlight. She charges at you, heat billowing around her, her hands blossoming with fiery energy. Burning Atium, you see shadowy flames erupting from her hands in what looks like a concussive blast. He seems engrossed in the match, but spares you a comment. "I suppose, but it's not that different from how I used to live. No, that's not quite right. It's very different from how I used to live, but the loneliness...that's about the same."
  9. A bunch of them have probably signed up just for the giveaway. Note the number of posts they have.
  10. "Eventually you'll get a feel for it. Each one is actually really minute by itself. You'll start to see patterns when it comes to quality. But those will help you a lot with learning about the inner workings of the Spheres, but we're not going into that right now. We're going over more macro stuff here. "I know you can't see me, but I'm putting on a helmet to see what you do, so I can mark things and show you how it works. The first thing to do here is to get the Formsphere you're going to be working with. I've got a pair of Soldier Spheres here, if you do this really, really well, we'll get all we'll need out of these. I go can back in later and fix it if you screw up, though. Odds are you will, but it's okay." A yellow aura, stark against the mostly blue and black of the rest of the screen, appears around a Sphere, which you can see as being in Quinn's hand. There's a ton more data associated with a full Sphere than with the Fragment. "Pick it up, then grab this." Another yellow aura appears around what looks to be a weld like device on an arm attached to the upper part of the station. "We'll go over this step by step."
  11. Figurines. Of ourselves, our 17th Shard personas. I'm only halfway kidding.
  12. Jay'el "In their raw state, very little, but with the right refinements, you can do a lot. Grid components, entirely new Formspheres, you name it. You just have to have the right tech for the job. "Which we happen to have. But we'll get to that later." He waves you over to stand in front of the machine. "This is the Spherebreaker. Take this headset-" he shoves a helmet on your head, which covers your eyes "-and these gloves-" your fingers are bent the wrong way as a pair of thick, heavy gloves are shoved over them "-and then we flick this switch." You hear a small click, and a bright light fills your vision. Now you can see...sort of. You see a digital representation of the Spherebreaker on a screen in front of your eyes. Looking around, you see the Form Fragment that Quinn set down. A readout appears, showing you the statistics of the item. Sniper Skill Gives the user skill with long range rifles. A list of numbers and labels appears, showing you various minutia of the ability. But you don't understand most of it. "Now this is the tricky part."
  13. League of Legends is a MOBA style competitive multiplayer game based on the Defense of the Ancients mod for Warcraft 3(?). You can find it at leagueoflegends.com I love League of Legends. Free to play, lots of champion variety, very entertaining pro scene, new stuff coming all the time, community involvement, occasional even-more-free stuff. Also, my brothers and cousin play it. Fun times. My username is Chapion of Fire if anyone is interested in friending me. (yes, I'm aware of the typo, moving on) And for the super geeky people like me who are a bit obsessed with this game: Cosmere based Champions! Szeth Passive: Stormlight – Increases Movement and Attack Speed, Health and Mana Regen, Magic Resistance, Ability Power, and Attack Damage by a small amount for each nearby unit, can stack up to 20 times Q: Basic Lashing – Szeth selects a unit, then a direction, selected unit moves in that direction for two seconds or until hitting terrain, upon hitting terrain, target takes damage; double clicking a target knocks them airborne W: Reverse Lashing – Szeth selects nearby unit, all nearby midair attacks are focused on target E: Full Lashing – Szeth selects target area, which is coated in sticky Stormlight, immobilizing enemy units that walk on it R/Ult: Work of Art – Szeth speeds to target area, dealing damage to all enemies in area and knocking them upwards for three seconds He's very team oriented, and has a lot of focus on positioning. I imagine him to be a great chaser, especially with a few minions or a teammate to back him up and build up his Stormlight. He's on the squishier side, though, and his only direct damage move is his Ult, which'll be a problem. But he's got a Shardblade, so his Basic attacks would kick butt. This is where the simplicity goes away. Vin Allomancy uses a charge system, each skill has charges, which are used up, do not recharge, and can only be recovered by returning to the Summoner Platform; leveling up increases the maximum charges for the upgraded skill Passive: Tin (FOV is not block by Brush or terrain), Copper (user and nearby units do not appear on minimap), Bronze (reveals nearby enemies on minimap regardless of FOV); click Passive icon to rotate; each metal has one charge, which lasts for five minutes (the timer is stopped when that metal is not being used) Q: Iron/Steel – Click on unit, then click them again to Push, or click on user to Pull; Pushes and Pulls do different things depending on target: if target is bigger than user, user is Pushed/Pulled; if target is smaller than user, target is Pushed/Pulled; if target and user are of equal size, both are Pushed/Pulled; only does damage if target is thrown against terrain (4 charges/level) W: Zinc/Brass – Used on ally, it buffs their MR and MS; used on enemy, inflicts fear and lowers MR (4 charges/level) E: Pewter – Increases MS, AS, AD, and Armor, and blocks 25% of all damage while active, when effect is ended, half of the damaged blocked by the 25% block is inflicted on user; has a timer, but can be turned off before end (4 charges/level) R/Ult: Atium – Grants 100% Dodge, 100% Crit Chance, and higher AS/MS for five seconds (1 charge/level) She's very much an assassin, working alone and hidden - even from her own teammates. I imagine her a little like Master Yi, but less damage oriented and more for catching. Zinc and Brass let her play a little on the support side, but not by much, it's mainly for locking down a chase. Pewter is a lot like Atium in that it's mainly a steroid skill, but it can be used more and it has that idea of "don't use it too much or it'll kill you" built into it. Her passive makes her great at busting potential ganks, making what would be a difficult laning phase easier to handle. Iron and Steel make escapes much easier, but can also work for chases, allowing her to stick to a target like glue or bounce out of a difficult situation like rubber. Mistborn (complicated version, yes, MORE COMPLICATED) (generic Mistborn since Vin doesn't have all the metals) Allomancy uses a charge system, each skill has charges, which are used up, do not recharge, and can only be recovered by returning to the Summoner Platform; leveling up increases the maximum charges for the upgraded skill Passive: Internal Metals – Clicking the Passive icon allows you to switch metals; each of the 8 metals has one 2 minute charge, requiring you to switch up your playstyle regularly Tin – FOV is not obscured by Brush or terrain, but at the cost of reduced armor Pewter – Blocks 25% of damage, but half of blocked damage is inflicted when deactivated Copper – You become invisible on the minimap, but heals are only half as effective Bronze – Enemies within a radius of yourself are revealed on minimap regardless of FOV, but you take an MR reduction Aluminum – Blocks negative spell effects (blind, slow, stun, silence, etc), but reduces the charge of all non-ult skills by one for each blocked effect Duralumin – Increases effectiveness of spells greatly, but charge cost is double Gold – Creates a minimap decoy of yourself somewhere else, but MS is reduced Electrum – You cannot be critically hit, but take 5-10% more damage Q/W/E: External Metals – These come in pairs, and can be swapped between Q/W/E slots while at your Summoner Platform, you can have 3 of the 4 pairs at any one time; level ups apply to slots, each receiving 4 charges/level Iron/Steel – Click on unit, then click them again to Push, or click on user to Pull; Pushes and Pulls do different things depending on target: if target is bigger than user, user is Pushed/Pulled; if target is smaller than user, target is Pushed/Pulled; if target and user are of equal size, both are Pushed/Pulled; only does damage if target is thrown against terrain Zinc/Brass – Used on ally, it buffs their MR and MS; used on enemy, inflicts fear and lowers MR Chromium/Nicrosil – Used on enemy, drains mana/increases overheat/reduces fury or stamina as long as you are within close range; Used on ally, doubles effectiveness of skills and length of cooldowns as long as you are within close range Cadmium/Bendalloy – Push button once for Bendalloy, twice for Cadmium, then select area (can be anywhere as long as you are inside it), Bendalloy field increases speed of all units inside it, Cadmium field decreases speed of all units inside it R/Ult: Atium – Grants 100% Dodge, 100% Crit Chance, and higher AS/MS for five seconds (1 charge/level) This version is much more versatile, but also much more difficult to manage. The passive alone is crazy, let alone the slot swapping for her non-ult skills, but I felt like there needed to be one with all 16 metals (plus Atium). Cadmium/Bendalloy is a great tool for chasing, and Chromium/Nicrosil makes taking down foes that much easier, which I felt really added to a lackluster skill lineup. The Passive really makes this Champion interesting, though, as it adds a lot of flavor and unpredictability, which very much reflects the Mistborn. I added in the penalties to it because of Aluminum, and I thought it would balance out the ludicrously applicability of the Passive. The idea of Internal being Passive and External being Active also really appealed to me. And what Cosmere topic would be complete without some off topic Pokemon references? Pokemon Trainer Passive: Pokemon Master – Items affecting mana also affect health by 25% percent (e.g., max mana increased by 200, max health increased by 50; Mana Regen increased by 4 m/s, Health Regen increased by 1 h/s) Q/W/E/R: Pokemon – Summons a Pokemon within a certain range of user, dealing small burst damage in area; Pokemon last until either recalled or killed (except for Ult); Pokemon attacks drain user mana, acting as main control for use Pokemon are controlled by pressing their button, then selecting either the user (returning the Pokemon), an enemy (attacking them), the Pokemon (performing a special AoE move), or a spot on the ground (moving the Pokemon there) Pokemon stats are affected by items; when a Pokemon is killed, a cooldown determines when they can next be used (cooldown is ended by returning to the Summoner Platform); returning a damaged Pokemon will allow their health to slowly regenerate; returned Pokemon offer buffs to user and active Pokemon Multiple Pokemon can be used at once, and tapping multiple buttons will allow the user to select a single target (clicking on a single Pokemon will cause only that Pokemon to use their special move); Pokemon can be commanded to move anywhere, and are not bound to a certain radius, thus allowing the user to multitask Q: Bulbasaur – Becomes Ivysaur at level 3 and Venusaur at level 5; buffs Health and Mana Regen while inactive W: Charmander – Becomes Charmeleon at level 3 and Charizard at level 5; buffs AP and AD while inactive E: Squirtle – Becomes Wartortle at level 3 and Blastoise at level 5; buffs Armor and MR while inactive R/Ult: Mewtwo – Buffs crit chance and Armor/Magic Penetration; cannot be actively controlled or returned upon activation, and vanishes after certain amount of time; attacks do not cost mana Yes, it's crazy, but it adds back in that kind of RTS feel to it which I think would really appeal a certain kind of player, since this game has its roots in that genre. One thought I had was that skins for this would be awesome, since you could go down the line and have skins for each region and set of starters (making skins for this champion beyond insane and difficult to make). Also, he makes basic attacks through the Pikachu on his shoulder, which I think is a great image. Am I crazy? Yes. A little bit obsessive? I've got over 1500 hundred posts on a Brandon Sanderson fan-forum, what did you expect? Are you entitled to call me a complete geek? Yes, yes, you are. Expect more of these from me, even if nobody posts here.
  14. This would also make it easier to spot each other at signings and stuff, thus reducing the need for the awkward question "have you ever heard of 17th Shard?" Would you be able to go through InkWing for this? That would make things easier. Also, it would add extra exposure to people going in for the Brandon shirts, who would definitely fall into the group of people who we want to be aware of us. EDIT: And can it be blue on a green background? I have lots of dark shirts, but not enough green ones. Jus' sayin.
  15. So in Elantris 3, will he do kind of the same thing as between 2 and 1? Having side characters in 2 be main characters for 3? And would that mean another time skip to the next generation? Perhaps Raoden and Sarene's kids? Half Elantrian kids! Oh my!
  16. I've decided to go with Hunger Games first, as there's been buzz about the movies on Tumblr and I want to be in on it. Also I'm looking for something lighter since I just finished WoK. So my dad is borrowing the first one from a co-worker for me. Should have it tomorrow evening. YAY!
  17. I think he's updated it from two SA books every three years to one SA and one non-SA book or side project every year. Though he has stated that he intends to work on SA for a very long time.
  18. DARNIT KCHAN. I didn't even play the video and now I've got it in my head!
  19. Jay'el The forgehands, some annoyed by your interruption, others tolerant due to your obvious unfamiliarity, point you in the right direction, where you can barely see Quinn standing. He waves at you, a smug grin on his boyish face. You make your way over and take a look at the machinery behind him. It looks like a cross between a computer and a blacksmithing forge with magic scattered throughout. "This is the Spherebreaker," Quinn explains, "We use it to break Formspheres into their basic pieces, which are items or abilities used in the Form." He picks up a small shard of crystal, which you recognize as a piece of a Formsphere. "This is a Form Fragment. It contains the essence of a part of a Form, specifically, the Sniper Rifle associated with an Infiltrator. This is a particularly good break, because it is an isolated piece of equipment, separated from the expertise needed to use it, which is-" he picks up another piece "-here. Questions so far?" Eerongal The monster is easily baited, but has a wider reach than you expected. There are several close calls in your implementation of strategy, leaving moderate burns on your side, leg, and shoulder, which is particularly painful. But in the end your maneuvering works, leaving the monster teetering on the edge of the chasm. You move in to finish it off. "Hey!" The little girl scrambles into your vision, placing herself between you and the bear, hands on the hips of her red, girlish dress. "Leave Tibbers alone!" A brief flare of fiery energy pulses around her hands before she throws a pair of fireballs at your face.
  20. I've seen that guy before in this video: And I love it.
  21. My gosh, I love Schmoyoho. The Charlie Sheen song remains my favorite.
  22. My first assumption would be that Jesrien founded Alethela, but Sigzil says that he founded Sasemalex Dar, which is in Makabakam.
  23. @almeldiel I do indeed. I just finished Alloy of Law today...yeah...
  24. Inheritance. Yeah. I've said this before and I'll say it again: Eragon bugs me to no end (the character, not necessarily the book). I still like the Roran plot in the second one though, despite seeing much better takes on similar storylines. (Kaladin in WoK immediately springs to mind, in the way of that they're both characters defending a small group from major outside powers.) I'm sure there's more out there that would probably fit this mold, but I haven't actually reread them.
