Long Game 54: Cognitive Diversions
Furamirionind replied to Steeldancer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Yeah um. I never even saw the night turn. I will have to go an read the main thread. Lol. As for this post, I would like to point out that you cant ever really prove someone innocent. The closest you can get is probably once an elim is killed, the person spearheading the lynch Is likely good, but this isnt always the case, and in a converson game, even less useful until Sja-anat is dead. I would see this as tunneling, something I did way to much in my first couple games. I would reccomend ignoring Lum for a couple hours and trying to find suspicious things in what other players do. Then come back to Lum. @Steeldancer @Mailliw73 the elim kill is not an action, so Sja-Anat could theoretically personally submit the kill, AND convert someone the same night correct?- 528 replies

Ok the turn hasnt ended yet... I am currently at a team party as a student won Dean's list on the worlds level. Which is a BIG DEAL. I have read through page 2. Working on page 3... I likely wont be on again until after rollover. I will be significantly more active D2 onwards.- 528 replies

Long Game 54: Cognitive Diversions
Furamirionind replied to Steeldancer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Lumgols initial defence of Fifth's accusations I did find read a bit weird to me. However, like elandera said, Lumgol has a history of posts like that. I agree mechanics analysis can be used as a shield from player analysis... But it is difficult to make that transition. For me I started trying player analysis in MR32 IIRC, where Randuir I believe was "pressuring" me to do it, even if it was bad. @Lumgol just to show that this isnt a mask, (and because you really arent that new anymore) I would like t ok see some player analysis from you. It doesnt have to be good if you dont think it will be. No one will judge you based on the analysis. And practicing it is the only way to get better. I do not like the lynch against Lumgol. I am tempted to vote for someone semi-random for a counter lynch... but for right now I dont have anyone... Fifth originally was pushing for Lum pretty hard based on some interesting analysis presented in a very good way. Then when Lum responded, he back tracked but kept his vote. As Lumgol is currently leading the lynch, and I think this ties it up, Fifth (Really late for me... so I am not going to quote or do another reread of the thread. I will hopefully be on agains around lunch tomorrow.)- 528 replies

While I love the idea, (and personally enjoy programming and website creation,) the amount of difficulty it would be to initially create a viable product I think would be significant. It wouldn't make sense to move over to a new website until the product is finished, as this website is pretty good on its own I think. The additional potential benefits, while awesome, would not make up for the work in my opinion. While cost was mentioned by someone before, I haven't seen much discussion about that. It would require a constant source of funding, and perhaps someone here would be willing to sponsor the website, however, at some point that person will move away, and someone else will need to take that up. A quick google search tells me it is $10-15 a year, while not expensive, this is purely for the domain. Depending on the path used to create the website, there could be additional fees, or an additional monthly cost for the website manager. If we would want to go the cheapest route, that would give us more customization options, however would make everything more work. Having to program most of the website from scratch will also have a tendency towards making things look block-y and aesthetically unappealing. Using free website creation tools also seriously limits the customization we are allowed. Anyway, I would love to have a new website, and would like to volunteer to help create it if we want to pursue it. However, I suspect the amount of work (and or funding) that would go into it would prove to be too much to be sustainable. EDIT: I am not voting, as I am indifferent. I want a new website, though I suspect it is not for the best. Edit: Edit: never mind, I will just say "no option" : )

Hahahaha I hadn't read the last turn at all. That roleclaim was genious. Too bad it didnt save you, I think it deserved to. Edit: @The Storm Sorry for not sharing my role with you... granted, being a Seeker I hope that was understandable, especially as I was certain you would become the convert. Reading the spammer doc, I am surprised Alv didnt put me on his list of likely seekers... I thought I was being a bit obvious about it in thread... though perhaps that was interpreted as a bluff. I AM super disapointed though I never got to use the role to its fullest. No one ever tried to lynch me, so I always had to scan the person i voted on, which as it was a 2 cycle step, meant that in C1, where I voted on Rae, the scan was basically a waste, and I couldn't change it. I was planning on claiming that the person I vote on gets an extra life, and people that vote on me I can redirect them among others that vote on me... but I never had the oportunity to get anything from that claim. : /- 1116 replies

It confused me... You said you got a PM saying you joined team Lumgol, so when I got a PM saying I joined team JOE, I thought it must be a rival convert role. Lol As for the JOE thing, I apologize for not taking it seriously... Well, my suggestion (I think I posted it) that we lynch Steel was in part because he couldn't be converted. I also didn't like the idea of someone I couldn't scan... Though now that I think about it, if actions targeting Steel also affect Sapphire, I probably could have scanned Steel by scanning Sapphire... didn't think of that, but was at my competition at the time, so I wont beat myself up to bad over it. Anyway, I as a JOE, would have preferred that the eliminators win but I lose, than, what I saw as a fairly big risk to delay, convert, and then try to win. I as well thought there would be 2 more spammers. Though if we had killed Walin and the game hadn't ended, I might have been more willing to pursue the JOE wincon... Just... Scanning is good...- 1116 replies

Long Game 53: The Fate of the Forum
Furamirionind replied to xxGaea's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Yeah, I think the spammers played the abosute best they could given how unlucky they got. Sorry, and good job. Thank you to Gaea and Joe for running this game. It was incredible fun. Also thanks to Ada, for being a huge force to be reckoned with, and keeping this a fast paced game. Well, my robotics event has just ended, and I am carpooling back home right now. Of course now that I have time again, the game is over. Lol. This was a very fun game, and I particularly enjoyed my role. Having a role that interacted with depended on voting/being voted on, is something I really liked the concept of. I originally thought, when Mailliw claimed the role "Upvote Addict" to me, that this game might be so meta, that his role actually interacted with upvotes in some way... I may try to create a ruleset for a game where the roles interact with the game similarly. For the Joe role, I am a bit disappointed. I count this as a win personally, but I think this officially drops my win % to 10 or 16% lol. It was mentioned that the JOE role may have brought the villages power in line. I personally dont think it did. There were just too many people (2-3) who just didnt consider it a worthwhile action. Of course, this wasnt a full run because the spammers didnt get much of a chance, but if this was to be replayed, I think there is a good chance that most of the time, the eliminators would win, but the Joe's would lose unless the converts are picked very carefully.- 1116 replies

Alright, I apologize, my "alright" and "rand" were onto the same line, implying they were connected. They arent. I am willing to vouch for these players being eliminators: CadCom Elandera MetaBard. I dont like the fact that we cant check steel and I would be willing to lynch him over that. With how powerful the village seems, I find it unlikely they would be able to get a role that makes them immune to the spammer kill.- 1116 replies

Sorry, I was going to be way more active around the original start time. As it is, I will be at PNW championships for about 12-13 hours a day, then homework... I also am running a low grade fever so... lovely. Anyway, really busy. Will try to reread the rules and post something coherent when I wake up. Unfortunately being sick though, I really do need sleep. -

If you dont think Alv got his conversion off, the last spammer should have ensured Alv survived. As there was a 4 way tie, they could have saved Alv by moving their vote from whoever, to one of the other 2 options. As snipexe voted on CadCom that cycle, I think something in your theory is incorrect. Edit: the convert will likely be the hardest spammer to find. Sacrificing Alv or a minor spammer role for getting a convert is likely worth it.- 1116 replies

Lumgol (1): Fura Araris(3): Cadcom, Elandera, Bard Unfortunately, I overestimated my abilities to focus today. Luckily I did do most of what I was planning to do today, yesturday. Ninja'd by Araris. I dont like the lynch on Araris because he is low activity. I would be much happier with a lymch on Snipexe rather than Araris right now as there is at least something suspicious about Snip. However, I am still apprehensive of assuming the spammer is inactive. I would still like the CC to claim at this point, as their existance is directly influencing this lynch. If there is a reason for them not to claim, I would like to hear that from @Adavantos. I am going to switch my vote to Rand for now... Rand EDIT: wow, no one questions when I just randomly switch my vote to someone without giving a reason? Part of me wishes I was converted purely because my role thrives on being suspected... yet for some unknown reason, no one seems to suspect me, and accepts anything suspicious I do is due to my role... lol- 1116 replies

Long Game 53: The Fate of the Forum
Furamirionind replied to xxGaea's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Hmm, interesting. I find that very unexpected. Whoever is calling the kills is definitely not choosing the obvious ones. The people most inclined to do this are, in my experience, the more experienced players... I historically have set too much store by who "should" and "shouldn't" have died on a given night. However, Kidpen was under suspicion. He would have wasted valuable discussion time today. Ninja'd by Ada Umm, well, In my last post, I assumed that the final spammer(s) were active, however, if Alv was the last active one, then that would also justify an "all-or-nothing" plan like what he had, as he was under lots of suspicion at the time as well. People who would qualify would seem to be Snipexe and Araris. While Xino and Walin haven't posted much game related data, they have both posted enough I would expect them to be submitting actions. While this is a possibility worth considering, I ONLY think it is worth considering if the Crusader claims their kills. It is also very possible that there is only one spammer left, and it is the convert. In that case, they are very possibly using their action to maintain their village persona. If this is the case, they are likely a trusted member of the village at this moment... waiting to strike... I will go through and do more analysis tomorrow, but for now, this is my basic list. I unfortunately do not have any spammer reads right now. But I have lots of people I am unsure about. Please don't take that list too literally, as it was made off the top of my head. I will cross reference that list with my current thoughts later. For now, I suspect the convert is hidden among us. This person would be known to be a villager, and probably has shared they have a role and are expected to use it. To build off of Ada's old list of roleclaims: Those that are not bolded may not be expected to take actions. Elandera - Maill trusted her early on, so assuming she was village then and spammer now, she would have been converted likely C2 like I suggested last post. Have been getting a general village vibe from her, but I have until now been looking for players that started as spammers, not a convert. So I will reread in case I missed something. Xino - Seemed inactive the first half of the game. Seemingly got significantly more active the last couple cycles. This is interesting as this is when the convert likely would have happened, however, he has commented a couple times on trying to avoid the CC, which I can understand. Xino seems generally like a bad choice of convert to me as he had contributed little to discussion and definitely wasn't trusted in any sense by that point. Rand - Has been looking closely at inactives. A tactic I tried as spammer elim in LG50, was I didn't put in a kill when I was the last one in the off chance I would be able to convince people the final elim was inactive. However, though lacking in analysis on active players, he has been questioning other player's analysis and not antagonizing people for their mistakes. So while I was planning on voting on him originally, I am probably going to wait. Lum - An interesting one. Lum has been a good convert target all game in my opinion. Claiming to be a conversion role is also interesting, and has been making me subconsciously think that Lum *can't* be the convert, while obviously that is untrue. Her starting with the JOE role is basically undeniable... Has been active... Idk. Can confirm she has been converting players, so can't be killing people if a spammer. Aman/Ada - I don't really have anything to add onto what I said before. I am tempted to vote on Ada... But the reasoning is purely speculative, so I will hold off until I get to my real analysis. Snipexe - Claimed healer after being prompted last night. The thing is, If Snip was the convert, I don't see why he would ever bother using his action. He would just be killing people and just claim he has been healing the wrong people each night. I am going to put a temporary vote on Lum, but I will be looking again at this Lumgol/Mailliw EDIT: Also, I think I would like to hear @I think I am here. roleclaim...
