Nightblood and the Royal Locks
Steel Inquisitive replied to Blightsong's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That's right! Got amounts of breath confused between Nightblood and God-King.So after looking at the coppermind it says God-King had 50,000+ breaths.... How does that work with this WoB? Questioner Is Nightblood a minor Shard? Brandon Sanderson Nightblood is one of the most heavily Invested things in the cosmere that is not a Shard. It seems old God-King is 50 x more powerful... at least at first.... I'm liking this theory more and more! It also means Nightblood must have gotten a LOT of other investiture. (As to above post: just pointing out WoB was not saying what was being stated it said) -
Nightblood and the Royal Locks
Steel Inquisitive replied to Blightsong's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That WoB does not say that he wasn't made with thousands of breath.... It only says that Nightblood is getting more powerful. -
It would have been a very carefully kept secret. With the mass loss of spren (and thus spren knowledge) a couple thousand years ago, many secrets would have been lost.

[THEORY] Lightweavers and Truthwatchers
Steel Inquisitive replied to animalia's topic in Stormlight Archive
This theory feels right to me. It would mirror the way both skybreakers and windrunners want to do what is RIGHT; with one side doing what feels right to them while the other side does what is right according to the law.- 8 replies

Where's WalDo: The Kandra Worldhopper
Steel Inquisitive replied to Kobold King's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Wow! Did not know they could do bugs too. That makes them WAY more useful in my mind. But... Kandra are WAY better at impersonating... But Sleepless are better at spying(in most cases)... I guess it really comes down to what you need.... If they had had a Sleepless instead of a Kandra in SoS things wouldn't have worked out at all.... But Sleepless can be in many places at once.... Ok you've convinced me that Sleepless are dangerous/cool (before this conversation I thought of them as the discounted version of Kandra). But I still like Kandra more! -
Where's WalDo: The Kandra Worldhopper
Steel Inquisitive replied to Kobold King's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Sleepless are only unobtrusive in Roshar where there are crab-like animals everywhere.... Any other world would be like "eww! Crab! Kill it! How'd it get here?" ( points for the melodramatic, anyone?) -
Where's WalDo: The Kandra Worldhopper
Steel Inquisitive replied to Kobold King's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Kandra can actually interact with the people their spying on. Sleepless can watch but Kandra can replace someone important. Kandra can give events a nudge. Big ones if they want. -
Where's WalDo: The Kandra Worldhopper
Steel Inquisitive replied to Kobold King's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Sleepless can barely pass as humans while Kandra are perfect imitations! I DO agree that the sleepless have many advantages... But Kandra are the better spies (this opinion is subject to change as the series continues.) -
Where's WalDo: The Kandra Worldhopper
Steel Inquisitive replied to Kobold King's topic in Cosmere Discussion
So the creepy crab guy was a Sleepless. Their the rosharian equivalent to kandra (kandra are a lot better!) As to Vivena... Kandra can't control hair. They have to eat the hair from a corpse and put each hair into place individually. So I don't think a Kandra would be able to manipulate the royal hair. -
Szeth and the Sons of Fëanor
Steel Inquisitive replied to ZenBossanova's topic in Stormlight Archive
The Silmarilion is one of my favorites! (Although I will admit it could be tedious in some parts... But on the other hand it was a history book for middle-earth sooo what could you expect?) -
So this question is mostly @Calderis fault.... So blame him Since oathbringer we found out that shardblades can cut spren. (kaladin defending gavinor.) So why don't shardblades cut each other? Shardblades are the physical manifestation of spren.... Shouldn't they be cutable? As I recall most shardblades aren't double -bladed so would the non sharp edge be able to be cut? What about live blades against dead blades?
-
@Calderis are you saying that you think the "Nohadon" from the first vision and the "Nohadon" from the second vision are NOT the same person? as I recall the stormfather seemed to have no knowledge of the second vision... So I guess... I don't know what to conclude about the second vision Was it a regular dream? Was it from Cultivation? A secret message from Honor?(kept even from stormfather?) From odium? Stormfather was just being annoying and pretending not to know of it for some spren-ly reason? Some vague bondsmith thing? Regardless... STILL could be the same cook! Just because it's unlikely doesn't mean it can't be so!
-
Just because she is a Sleepless doesn't mean she can't be the cook Nohadon was talking about. Although I feel like it is not likely, it was really random of Nohadon to mention a cook while giving life advice... Then again Nohadon seemed like a really random guy in that vision... Buuuut since it's Brandon it could be some REALLY stealthy foreshadowing!

Dalinar the politician and the Vorin church
Steel Inquisitive replied to Diomedes's topic in Stormlight Archive
I could see the Vorin church supporting Taravangian over Dalinar without realizing that Taravangian is working with/for Odium. If they knew about Taravangian's allegiance than... Anyone who's Vorin and not Dalinar would probably work for them. Totally agree with you about Dalinar's political skills although in all fairness Dalinar does admit he's bad at the art... -
He's too weak right now... Give him a little bit of time for character growth and he'll be ready!

I've seen those pics but still never picture cryptics like that. In my mind they are perfectly round with a bold line around their edge and finer lines that form an ever shifting pattern inside. I have never bothered to try and imagine the patterns..... Too lazy

Which Form of Investiture Would you Choose?
Steel Inquisitive replied to The Grumpy Elantrian's topic in Cosmere Discussion
ditto on Feruchemy! For same reasons as @turtle373 -
Lol. Should have known not to play the "quote the book" game with Calderis On the other hand even tho they've only been writing for six years they probably started writing their songs down... Sooooo it still works! I'm interested in the part where she says the Rhythms guide people... How do the Rhythms guide people to the right words?
-
As to the Stormlight in-world book title theme: the listener's do have a written language right? ( I think they do because as I recall Venli and other scholars were taking notes in WoR.) So they almost definitely have some books. The songs would be more traditional in nature. And if they wrote a book about their history (one of death, betrayal, and misery) Rhythm of the Lost would be an appropriate title for such a history.

Thanks @Scion of the Mists!

I like Rhythm of the Lost. has a nice ring to it and has an appropriately ominous sound to it

So if a mistborn was standing in a room that was made out of a single block of metal (IDK maybe it was soulcast or something) what would he see with steel/iron? Would he see a single blue line that shifts depending on where he's looking? would he be surrounded by a blue haze? something else? or would it vary from person to person?

Why didn’t Vin see Kelsier?

Why didn’t Vin see Kelsier?
Steel Inquisitive replied to Lord Mistborn Bondbreaker's topic in Mistborn
I don't think so. With spook he was practically dead by the time he could see Kel so he was WAY closer to the CR.... But wait.... At the end Spook "physically" sees Kell..... But at that point Kell had held a shard and should be more.... Potent? Thanks RShara
