Hi everybody, last weekend I finished a diary for my Mistborn RPG character. I always like having some accessoires for my characters, even if you don't really need it to play. In our groups we usually have one guy writing a group diary, so that everybody knows what happend the last time. But with this special character I felt like I should also keep track of who owns me favour, or who was a good source of informtion. Because of that I decided to keep an extra diary myself, not with the overall plotline, but with more specific information relevant only for myself, so that I don't loose count of something. The first few sessions I wrote everything down on a sheet of paper, but in the end I decided that having a small book would be better. The book is only A6, with a lined paper inside, as I wanted something small and more important light (my pen and paper roleplaying bag got somehow heavy over the years). The outside I made of black leather, as I found that a fitting colour. I associate Scadrial with dark, depressing colours, so the black seemed a better fit than the warm brown one I also had at home. On the leather I which I painted an allomantic symbol fitting to my character. The metal has in reality a golden colour, but that was difficult to interpret, so I chose yellow as the primary colour. Only the yellow was a bit boring so I added the red, as I associate that with burning hot, molten metal. And the wohle burning part fits really well to the overall setting. Last but not least I added the metal book corners. They protect the corners and I like the look of them. A plus is, that they are even made of the right metal and I happend to have them at home At the moment I'm working on a dice cup out of 3-4 mm thick natural leather, but it will take a few days as I have to form the leather before being able to sew something together. I'd be happy if you could tell me you opinions, or to change ideas about other stuff you could make. If you have any questions feel free to ask Depending on the question I'll answer. Sorana

I don't think Rayse was supposed to be at the Shattering

Yes he did, in the epigraphs, part2, way of kings -
I think I'll try them out. I looked them up and the cover are great. But First Empire of Ashes. It just hit the Market yesterday (or the day before) and I'm so excited to see what will happen...

[OB] The name of the Stone is the answer
Sorana replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Stormlight Archive
This is pure spekulation, but I just had a thought while reading your post: Dalinar maybe has a reason to repair the shattered plains. If the destruction of the shattered plains caused the Stone Spren Harm, maybe repairing them would help the spren somehow. Condition is that he doesn't only Repair them in the PR.(Of course there has to be a corresponding Stone Spren first, this is based on the theory of @SzethIsBadAsHell) (It feels a bit like I'm missing something...)- 9 replies

@Rhapsody I know that there are books and I've read a lot of them. E.g. I liked the Time Spiral Cycle. It was a fun read. Nothing I would recommend, as I've definitly read better ones (Sanderson, Lightbringer, Powder Mage, Codex alera,...) But good enough to spend some nice hours reading. And yes, you're right a lot them aren't that good... What I didn't know is that they are actively looking for new authors...

Sabaa Tahir's "An Ember In The Ashes", and Mistborn
Sorana replied to Necessary Eagle's topic in Mistborn
At first: I'm not the only one who got confused about Elias name. Yay! To be honest I think it's a coincidence. The whole girl Loves poor Boy// Boy Loves poor girl Story is pretty common. The name is the only thing indicating more, but as @ROSHtaFARian2.0 mentioned: we like to der connections everywhere... -
I'm not sure about that. I can see your point that the meta story has to have a conclusion, but I'm not sure if a supreme antagonist is needed for that. We already have several different groups/individuals with different goals. Imo they have enough potential to oppose each other without a supreme-antagonist entering the Game. I don't think one antagonist opposing all the others would work. I think it more likely we get a huge conflict but that it's more a "different people to the party" kind of situation. But in the end we'll see what happens...

I cried at the end of hero of ages, the whole scene was so beautiful and sad. But the book that hit me the most was a child's book about a girl who looses both her legs. She is devastated at first but then her parents buy her a half-blind horse and she gets better and continues with her life. The conclusion is a bit like "you walk for me and I see for you." I know that sounds like a childish Horse novel (and it is), but it always gave me the hope that no matter how dark it gets, you can always move on, you can always find something worth living for.

Try it out. I found it strange and a bit lengthy. I simply didn't get the feeling for it.

When you check the progress bars every day, sometimes even more often (and you know they don't move faster with you looking at them...) -
Yes it is colourfull. Brightly so and that's great. I was aiming at the classical roleplayer Character types white (=good) and black (=evil) with Grey in the middle. Sry I should have explained that more.

The strangest book I've ever read is the mussel feast by Birgt Vanderbeke. It is about a Family eating mussel every week although nobody except the Father likes them. So one evening the Father is Late and they talk about him and what they are doing and so on. When he finally comes home his position as a patriarch is over. Really, Really Strange.. .

Same here. Sometimes I just want curl up and cry over how careless and uncaring we humans can be. Call me negative but we are one the worst things that could happen to our planet. (Except for Ruin...) I like Ruin. Such a great opponent...

I had the following idea: Name: Sunlover Power: 1. Doesn't feel cold at all 2. Can influence others in their opinion of her, also epics Weakness: Not Good with critique, the Moment Age feels insecure she looses her powers Personality: from outside: nice and caring, harmless From inside: manipulative, intrigant, but partially loyal, tries to find a secure place, food, money and whatever she can get, uses her power shamelessly Costume: a nice summerdress, something bright and cute with a wide skirt, Open hair/ sometimes pulled back, in Winter with a warm Jacket (for show)

In the end it's something entirely else, like a school book, or a romance novel (ok unlikely as he says he finds it difficult to write good romance plots). But in the end most of us will read it and we will like it... More seriously: I didn't know they they were looking for authors for Magic the Gathering, so that seems like a plausible possibility.

Back to topic: I think it's likely for Dalinar to become a god, it feels like he's being actively prepared for the "task". The only thing that makes me a bit uneasy is the fact that so much points to him becoming one. It feels like I'm missing something, like he's just the Pathfinder, the tool and in the end it will be completely someone else and he'll become someone else entirely.
