@Draginon Have you thought about looking for professional help? If she is has what you looked up, then you'll need and even if she hasn't maybe a neutral party could clear the situation. What you describe doesn't sound good, it sounds really bad actually, so maybe you have reached a point where you can't solve it on your own anymore. But aside from all of this: *hugs* If you need an open ear, just write something.

During year 1 after the war (how Damaya got her spren)

Cool! Then maybe our characters could set out together or know each other or something like that.

@I am Witless To come back to your offer to teach: Would it be possible that Damaya spent some time with you? Maybe starts at your place or something like that?

I'd like to have a statue for Syen aswell. I know she wasn't really a hero, but it would be nice if there was something remaining of my girl. I think of a place near the back of the hall, in a remote corner. It should depict her with her bag and some medical supplies in her hand. Her face smiling and friendly, her body language open and welcoming. I imagine Essun sitting next to/ on her feet. I'll add a picture, but I didn't find anything fitting so far. Inscription: In memory of Syen, medic and apothecary. Sometimes the small things make the difference.

I like Shallan, too. She gets a bit more difficult to read in Oathbringer, but I like her character development - although it is hard to see what she goes through. And I have to admit that sometimes she annoyed me. but I hope that will change with the fourth one I preferred the Rithmatist over Steelheart, simply because I loved the idea of chalk lines as a weapon.

Syen stared at Devaan, shaking herself out of her fear. Healing. that she could do. Pushing at the claw again she managed to move a bit to reach for her bag. Breathing in stormlight she stretched a hand in Devaan's general direction and felt for his body. Closing her eyes she concentrated on what she felt, shutting out the world, the claw holding her in a steellike grip. Healing was the only thing, she really knew something about.

Syen stared at Devaan getting liftied of the floor and started pushing at the claw. Useless, she was utterly and completely useless. "I'm sorry Essun." she whispered, staring at her spren with tears in her eyes.

Syen put her hands over her ears and asked herself what sword he meant.

Syen screamed and hit the claw with her hands. There wasn't anything else she could think of to do...

Syen cut her connection to the illusion and it evaporated in a whisp of Stormlight.

What about the hospital and the bar? I mean we nuked the City. They should both be gone, shouldn't they? I like the idea of the graduation class a Lot. Would be perfect for Sheila and her scholarly approach.

Bewildered Syen looked at the weapon in her hand not even sure how to hold it properly. Well, it was better than nothing. Or at least she hoped so. Carefully stepping to the right side she took a deep calming breath. Fear let her hands shake a bit and her heart pounded like she was running for her life. She felt for the thread connecting herself to the illusion and pulled it tight, ready to snap. "I'm ..." Her voice broke somewhere along the line and so she cleared her throat and tried again. "I'm ready."

@Draginon I don't know your mother, or you, so I can't really offer a good piece of advice. But I felt like I should reply, so here it is: Mothers are complicated. I had huge problems with mine, and sometimes we weren't even able to have a normal conversation for weeks. But after I moved out and a few years later got married, that changed. We get alone more or less fine right now. It's still exhausting and she annoys me often, but I always remind myself, that she means well. She is just a different person and she likes to controll everything - including myself. And no matter how old I get, I'll always be her little girl. I know she gave up a lot to have children and although she can be annoying I try to keep that to myself, to take time for her. She is my mother and I repect and love her deeply despite all what happend. What I try to say is, that although your relationship is difficult right now, it can change in the future. Just don't give up.

Welcome to the forum! If you've just finished MB Era 2, then I would recommend you to read Warbreaker or The Emperor's Soul. Although the last one is rather short, it is a great piece of art. And afterwards just read everything else he wrote. It's all fantastic. Which of Brandon's books you've read so far did you like best?

Hello and welcome to the shard! If you likes Shallan in Words of Radience, I'm really looking forward to hear your opinion about her character after you've read the books 2 and 3. She's one of the more polarizing characters around. Which of Brandon's books you've read so far did you like best? Here's a guide with our rules. If you're new to forums in general, you might want to have a look. It will make it easier to start. http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6-a-welcome-to-17th-shard-and-the-rules/

Syen looked at Ko Tiel and waved a hand in the general direction of the black area. It wasn't big, just big enough to cover someone about as big as a human. "He killed the other guy. And he's definitly one of the evil ones. I read he wants to deactivate the shield or walk through the canton, killing. Icovered him in an illusion because that's everything I could think of to buy time." She hesitated then added, trying to keep her voice steady: "The downside is, that we don't know what he does, though he shouldn't be able to see anything. If you trust yourself to fight him, I'll dissmiss the illusion."
