Can you Kill Someone with Soul Stamps?
Sorana replied to Philomath's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
I need such a mug. I'm not sure about the refilling part, but even if I need to stamp it every time to be full again, that would be great! -
I really loved ME 1-3. The crew, the story, Shepard, everything. Such a great world and setting.

Hello and welcome! If you haven't read that many of his books you should be carefull a bit while browsing, because there a lot of spoilers around. And of course you should read his books

Hi and welcome (back) =) Is Citadel per chance a Mass Effect reference?

Damaya heard the footsteps of the strange man walking in circles get louder and looked over at him. He still walked in a circle. She was about to turn away, when she saw blood on the floor behind him, more and more blood with each step he took. "Hey." she rushed over, tried to touch his arm, to get him to stop. "You need to sit down. You're bleeding." She followed him next to his path, so that he had to listen to her. Hopefully.

Kelsier before he snapped. Because I would never try to steal the Lord Rulers Atium, but he led a fairly good life before he got caught. Marsh is way cooler, but I don't want to be an Inquisitor influenced by Ruin. Would you rather live on Dayside or Darkside (both Taldain)? -
Mira and her staff had a lot of work to do after the war. When finally the wounded were healed or dead the started to rebuildt the hospital. It was smaller than before, but there were still a lot of people in need of medical services. Especially after the war when many had to live on the streets, illness became a problem. 16 years after the war it's gates were still open for anybody who needed help, or wanted to work there.

Damaya laughed at his smile put the last batch of hot cakes into the oven. The whole ktichen smelled like freshly baked cakes and she had to admit that she was getting hungry. Coru still sat curled around her arm, and he was clearly so content, that she simply left him there and pushed her sleeves down. "I'll be back in a minute and help you clean up. I want to ask your mother if there is something else to prepare in the kitchen, so that we don't have to clean it twice." She walked down the hallway and spotted Yzabet talking to an old wizard who vanished in a could of smoke. "Yzabet." she adressed her. "Is there something else I can prepare in the kitchen? The hot cakes are nearly finished." Waiting for Yzabet to turn around she looked through the room and spotted something sitting under a table. A spren and it looked a bit like Coru. She quickly averted her eyes. She had one of those, there was no need for a second one.

During year fourteen Damaya walked back towards the city, a slight smile on her face. That few weeks that she had spent away from the city had been like a warm sumer day, blowing away the darkness in her mind. Her step was slow, but firm. She knew she had to return, but she could stretch that a bit and the thought, that he had no reason to hurt her anymore felt like honey calming a sore throat. With a smile she sat down next to the road and searched through her pack for something to eat. Coru settled down next to her, quietly. And although she still didn't want these powers it felt good not to be alone. She took her time, watched some butterflies, and finally lay back, looking at the sky. It was a beautiful day, warm but not to hot, a slight wind blowing over the fields of gras. Birds were flying far above, dancing with a wind she could only feel but would never see. Damaya felt light, almost like a bird herself, soaring off to unknown places, leaving her past behind. If she closed her eyes she could imagine the wind moving the grass, was instead blowing over water, moving a boat carrying her away. She heard the cries of seagulls arguing over fish, something she hadn't heard in over fourteen years. Something that had been part of her daily life, like the smell of the sea, like the sound of water against the wooden hull of a boat. They had even travelled a part of their journey to the Alleycity in a boat, the first part. She had been so excited by then, so happy that her parents decided to take her on her first long journey. Damaya felt tears well up in her eyes and she sat up, put her face on her knees. Taking a deep breath to calm herself she tasted her salty tears, like seawater when she was swimming with the waves. Sorrow welt up in her, cut off her throat, choking her. She started crying fully, her body shaking with her sobs. She never had the time to grieve, to let them go. She wished, she wished that she could see her mother again, that her mother could take her in her arms and hold her tight. She wished to let go for a moment, to be safe with someone she loved from the bottom of her heart, someone who would look after her no matter what. The scent of lilies made her open her eyes, lift her head and through her tears she could see her, she heard her kneel down next to her, pull her over into her warm embrace. Damaya let go, followed the movement and after a while her sobs subsided. Her mothers hair was like a soft blanket on her cheek and she looked up, looking at her like her seven year old self that had lost her so long ago. "What should I do?" she asked, her voice raw from crying. "Be strong, my little one." She felt a soft kiss on her head. "I love you." Damaya felt her go away, saw her vanishing like a silver glow in the golden light of sun. "I love you, too." she answered, staring longingly at the space where her mother had been. "Illusions can be a powerfull lie." she heard Coru's voice next to her and she turned. Her sorrow turned into fury in the blink of an eye, deep dark black starting to glow a scorching hot red. "How can you dare?" her voice was strange, seething with anger. She grabbed her bag and threw it at him, but he evaded and so she followed him, ran after him, trying to hit him, trying to hurt him with everything she had. She ran, until she couldn't move forward anymore, until she stumbled and fell down, her knees hitting the ground with a wet sound, pain shooting up her thigs. She had started crying again, her hands balled into fists, hitting the earth in front of her again and again and again. "How can you say that?" she whispered, to exhausted to even spead loudly. "How can you say that." she repeated, feeling empty after all the sorrow, all the anger. Like everything had left her, like she was only a shell left behind on the beach. Coru didn't answer and she didn't need him to. Somewhere hidden deep inside herself she knew, that the spheres in her pocket would be dull, that her mother was dead and the dead didn't come back to hug their daughters. She had lost her, unchangeable lost her during the war fourteen years ago.

I'm German. But I only read Elantris in the translated version and that was back in 2006. And even of Elantris I only have the english version at home. So I think I'm not really who you're looking for, sry.
-
If you like to add a piece of every cosmere book you could add an aon for Elantris, or an outline of the City. A stamp Shai uses in the emperor's Soul is also a possibility. For Nalthis maybe Nightblood and/ or Vasher with his Breaths. For Taldain a sandmaster could work, or a ribbon of sand holding something. Do you want to represent the worlds we only had a short glimpse into as well? Then an Island or a deathant could work for first of the sun. For Threnody I think immediatly at a shadow. The Rest is more difficult, because we didn't get to see much of them. Yolen maybe a reference to a Dragon.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Sorana replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Yes, you're right. That could definitly be cryptics. Inever thought about it that way before... -
I'm not sure if I'm more afraid, that he simply took what we had in The Book of Lost Tales Part 2, brushed it up a bit and decided to publish it on its own. Or if he took the lost tale and changed it so much, that it feels non-canon. But to answer the original question: Yes I am excited to hold it in my hands and to read it. I hope for the best!
-
Honestly, they all could die. There is a possibility that in the end there will be no humans on Roshar anymore. Or Hoid ruling them all. With the end of SA as a "we should not end like that - practice" for MB Era 4. It's not that I'd like to see this ending, but the setting definitly offers the chance.

Hello and welcome to the shard! And a completely non Brandon related question: Which are your favourite games/ which ones do play most often? A single player video game with one of his books as a setting would be dream come true.

Surprised Damaya spilled a part of the filling on the table. "My favourite animal?" she repeated, sounding stuipd. But if he really wanted to know. "I think that would be a Black Redstart. Do you know them? They are small, a medium to dark brown and their tails are coloured red. We once had a nest on one of the wooden beams of the rooftop. I used to climb up there and have a look at them and their little ones. And one morning, they were gone. I had waited for days to watch them while they learn to fly, but I was to late." She cleaned up the table, putting the spilled filling into a bin. "And yours?"

"Hello to you too." Damaya called and grinned at Pallas, happy for everything that pulled her thoughts away from Coru on her arm. "You do have strange guests, today." She started to fill the dough with the vegetables and put the next batch of hot cakes in the oven.
