She blasted through the sky, looking at the approaching Alleystorm. Her power would grow massively within it. But first... first PlasmaCore had to go. She screeched, and burnt a trail through the air, the sound like thunder following. The Phoenix was to destroy something. And Dark Phoenix... Dark Phoenix would join them. She screeched again as she flew towards the massive building.

The Vortex was gone, the Alleystorm approached. All was going according to plan. The bird was unexpected. But also a massive help. It would be far easier if the Alleycity just burned down, and the guilds with it. Lord Ajax chuckled within his fortress. Demons howled, as did thousands of other horrors. He had no fear. He was far more powerful than any of them. He opened his door and stepped out onto a patio. Underneath was a massive metal room, a thousand feet in every direction. And within it, there was his horrors. Tens of thousands of creatures, dwarfing the thousand men and women in his command. They would destroy this lesser realm, remake it, and then move on to conquering others, the Cosmere, the evil god realm, the glass world. All would fall. He raised his hands, and a thousand howls greeted him. Yes, all was according to plan. ~~~ Bellatrix felt a fire ignite within her. She looked up, looked up from the tears, the snot, the blood. And she saw it. The Phoenix. It was beautiful. She stood, entranced by the flaming beauty. The part of her mind that was still hers screamed in protest. But she was a woman possessed, and a shadow surrounded her. Then a brilliant light. Fire burst up around her, swirling. In each hand she grasped a small orb. The fire expanded further, until it was the size of the Phoenix. Then it lifted off the ground, hovering like a second sun in the sky. It shifted, slowly changing until you could recognize shape. Then wings. A head. Within a minute, it was a phoenix. But dark shadow began to surround it, physical clouds of darkness. And the fire began to change. First bright blue, then red, then a pale green, a purple, and finally, it darkened. A phoenix flapped in the sky. And it was oily black. A loud screech emerged from it's mouth, and it's eyes opened. They were a fog of red and purple, the same color as the haze that had made the city murder each other. The pheonix swooped into the sky, and a mental connection went to the phoenix. You knew my father. Were friends with him. He saved you. Will you accept me to? And in that moment, Bellatrix faded entirely. This version... this embraced her father. Hellbent. Dark Phoenix had risen.

My worldbuilding is very different from most. Usually, there's carefully planned worldbuilding and a story idea that came together worldbuilding. Mine starts at the least helpful point, is reverse engineered, then engineered, and further expanded upon through talking with my friends. For example, in one story I started by watching an episode of Tiny Toons, saw that they knew about the "can't fall until you look down" rule, imagined this as a scene for a real person, but a hellish world underneath and a dark expansive pit. Then I decided on a name, "A Touch of Madness". From there, I made it so the magic system is based around madness, the more insane you are, the more power you get. I decided to jump right into writing from there, and got like four chapters, and a prologue, in. During this, I decided the power came from God, who in this world gave it up to be among mortals, but it was tainted by a war and couldn't be regained unless one was totally insane. I also decided the story alternated between the viewpoints of three guys. Primarily Abraham, a regular person who has to deal with it (main), Deus, the former God, and a man who is the most mentally unhinged person to ever exist. Through conversation, I had to figure out better how the magic works. So it ended up being that lower levels of insanity it's instinctive power. At medium levels, it's related to your mental issue, but can be controlled. At high levels, it's just access to the power store, and will let you play with God's power. At extremely high levels this will let you physically move continents, create entire species, break the laws of physics worldwide. So the worldbuilding in this story is based off of IRL, and then turns into IRL who had too many shots, and then goes into IRL as a massive drug addict. My worldbuilding is beautiful and you can stop judging.

Ark grins. A fight. It had been far too long. "How do you wish to do this? A formal duel? A fight to the death?" He chuckled, taking a step forward. "I prefer a deathmatch, personally." The sand around him swirled quickly, and the crystal grew in long jagged spikes along his arms. His swords grew longer still, and as he stepped, the ground shook. He was a man, in a monster suit of purple crystal. And the sand around him made it all the worse. The woman on his right, the one who had teleported him here, administered a light red poison to his blades and spikes. He took another step forward. "Ladies first."

Ark appeared. He had purple crystal armor, covering his entire body with twisted spikes. Each arm had blades of the same material extending from it. The blades were a meter in length, with sharp edges and hooks. Sand swirled around him, ribbon after golden, glowing ribbon. He walked forward, face imperious. Around him, one by one, appeared black suited men. Each had guns. One had a steel jaw, one was blue skinned, and one had tiger fur patterns. All eight fell into a V position behind Ark. "Hello, scum. You wish to fight our leadership?" The bodyguard who had teleported him, a woman with bright purple skin, appeared at his side. He smiled cruelly. "Well, I am here."

Ronin's shields activated. The blast parted around him, like he was a boulder in a stream. Then his shields gave out. He was blasted backward, face, body, everything BURNING. The world went black as he faded into unconsciousness.

Ronin broke into a sprint. Hellbent and Devaan were in complete agreement, though for different reasons. Hellbent wanted the challenge, and didn't want to lose the fight. And Devaan... Devaan was going to make Ronin pay. They moved as one, Ax and blade, flying towards Vesuvius's skull, aiming to kill.
