My question is, would a voidbinder, Connected to that magic system in the normal way ie not Renarin, be able to summon a living magical blade that cuts through *almost* everything made of a god metal? I’d assume that would require a type of spren bond, but idk that’s not the point. My question is if a run of the mill voidbinder gets a magical weapon.

Can voidbinders summon shardblades? Gut instinct tells me no, and for the purposes of this chat the Fused are NOT voidbinding, and Renarin is hacked into the system, or at least one of the surge variations associated with the system.
-
Could Renarin use one of Shallan’s idealistic drawings and change someone’s spirit web accordingly? Could Roshar create an alternative Forging process using a combination of progression and lightweaving?

Maybe he’s in league with Hoid, and Hoid provides him a constant glamour via a recent development in his magical abilities.

I haven’t read up on those metals too much, so give me a little leeway for my ignorance. But if chromium and nicrosil only target kinetic investiture wouldn’t investiture stores still be safe? In that case, a knight radiant might not be completely depleted so long as he had some charged gems on him. On the flip side, can these metals target breaths in the same way?

Saw a post in that interested me. It was talking about how crazy it would be if you could target the effects you wanted to negate with aluminum. One vein of questioning away, I want to know if Aluminum could be alloyed with other allomantically active metals to destroy just that reserve? Thx

While the surges might seem to be behaving slightly different, I feel that it can be explained by a couple of things, specifically the difference in fuel and the Fused having carapace. I’ll leave the theorizing on the effects of the fuel to others on the site, the gist of what I wanted to talk about could be explained by a single word, aerodynamics. Because the fused have carapace they can kinda cheese their flight to move more smoothly by utilizing the air/wind to their advantage plus having a lower coefficient of friction than their surgebinding counterparts. Throw in a couple thousand years of flight experience, and I think the difference in flight speed and handling can be explained pretty fast.

Ahh my bad I haven’t been on here for a while, got used to some other sites. Didn’t mean to confuse anyone

Hey guy, welcome to the shard, but could you check out the last time someone posted in a thread before responding? This one died a couple months back. It’s an interesting convo, so you could easily start another thread yourself if you wanted to talk about this stuff. Thx

A Stormfather honorspren combo wouldn’t be too bad. Father-child dynamic, with doubled adhesion surge.

I’ve always imagined Taln as Arnold Schwarzenegger in his prime.

Keep in mind that Radiants can also be actively feeding stormlight to the plates while within, kinda like a passive regeneration effect that allows prolonged use, but they also lose potential investiture to bind with. IIRC Kal notes a loss of stormlight after the fight.

I always thought of a gyro when I heard of chouta, and I love conversations like this where we get a little glimpse into other people’s envisaging of Brandon’s stories. Always Interesting.

Yeah it kinda depends on what qualities of shardblades you desire, the physical aspects ( blocking other blades, damaging plate, lower weight, and preventing investiture interference) are easy enough to replicate, barring that lower weight. The cognitive aspects, where the blade can actually speak to you, or change shape are the more difficult parts. On a side note, some worlds would just function better with weapons other than swords. Scadrial in particular would do better with projectile-based weapons.

I don’t quite understand what your point is, could you elaborate a little further? For something to exist period in the Cosmere, it needs a spiritual aspect, so an arrow would be included. From what I understand (it has been a while since I read era 1) atium grants a limited access to Fortune, which utilizes the lack of time in the spiritual to predict what will come to pass in the physical.

He might heal at a faster rate than a standard gold ferring? Similar to Miles healing with greater strength? If resonance is partially related to savantism, could sufficient use of his bendalloy alter his passive perception/passage through time?

Not much is known about them, as they’ve only been mentioned a couple times, but it’s been theorized that szeth’s spren is hiding because of nightblood.

So, I’m a HS senior, just had my first taste of thermodynamics, was wondering if investiture relied on similar properties? I’ve got this gut sense that investiture tends to move towards the physical because that’s where the least investiture is, and that it requires energy to move investiture in the other direction. For a little clarification I’m saying investiture moves from spiritual to cognitive to physical in a spontaneous sense, and it must be induced through means of work to move from physical to cognitive to spiritual. Am I completely off-base here or is there something I’m missing?

Personally, I’ve always thought of a seafood gumbo or turtle soup, but that may be because my family is from New Orleans.

I concede I read way too far into what rainier was saying, and formally apologize, brain is a bit rattled right now due to exams.
