I think you may be overestimating the Ardentia' s sway over Soul-casting. The Ardents are property after all. Prior to the Hierocracy, they may have had some major power, but nowadays they're almost relics. Something used like a tool really.

It's mentioned that it is indeed at an angle, though I imagine something like a 65° - 70° angle to be about right, something else might be appropriate. My main issue is that gap for the side pushing bars. Even a 3' gap, and we have to agree that Bridge 4 isn't dragging the handles(so 3'6") that is a significant area for Parshendi arrows.

Elhokar's Shardplate's broken gemstones
DocHoliday replied to smearedblackink's topic in Stormlight Archive
The OP has been mentioned before, the glowing being unintentional Stormlight retention such as Kaladin exhibits in his fight with the Verb Veden Shardbearer. Other speculation includes Stormlight retention intercepting Elohkar ShardPlate in some fashion similar to Szeth being unable to use Plate and Lashings at the same time. I hadn't heard it WoB yet, but current speculation due to the back cover of WoR is that Dalinar is the Bond Smith mentioned therein. Also I think it's very intriguing you mention Dalinar throwing the Shardblade aside then pulling in more Investiture(either through armor or sheer 'Awesomeness'). I don't believe it's been mentioned before. -
You've done a great job revising the OP in the exact same way I did InkThinker. Upvote. Upon review however, I'm noticing a major problem with the Side Carry. I doubt more than 9 men have proper leverage to be any real aid in momentum in this position. If we assume the bars are long enough to allow two men to push to 1 bar, these side rails/ pushing bars are a minimum of 4-5 long, a major issue if Bridge 4 uses the bridge as a shield. Also of we increase the size of the rear rails/push bars then we encounter a similar issue of people unable to utilize the bridge as a shield.

Absolutely true, but I feel the shape changing to be more a property of Returned forcing their Physical aspect with a Cognitive 'push'.

Darkness' surgebinder radar
DocHoliday replied to Awesomeness Summoned's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think Awesomeness has some good points actually. While not a complete Theory, there are some holes, Darkness does appear to have an uncanny ability to locate Surgebinders. Can anyone point to what surge he is suspected of having? I'd also like to point out that Darkness would likely have NO qualms about executing Jasnah. She delves into intrigue like a fish to water. She clearly had employed assassins before. Thanks to Ym we know ANY involvement, besides a state sanctioned execution, in a murder is enough in his eyes to kill. -
Why was this down voted? In medieval times, chess was seen as a form of war. Great generals were almost always great chess players. This did not deserve a sham vote, shame to whoever did it. Upvote corrected. Back to topic. The High Princes will buck at this declaration. I'm in love with the idea that Adolin will be dueling everyone for their Shards.

Was Ym's attacker speaking to Elhokar?
DocHoliday replied to smearedblackink's topic in Stormlight Archive
I thought that this has been discussed on numerous occasions? The consensus was that Darkness is definitely the same individual from Ym and Lift Interlude, and very likely the same man from WoK Prologue. Still, Upvote to Delightful for early timer, link quotiness. Also welcome Smeared! Would you prefer Smeared or Ink as a shorthand? -
But that implies the question, why is Elohkar seeing Cryptics? If he has a secret, what is it? That he isn't King? That his father is alive?
-
Yaaaa we'll go with that. I'm a man of my word. You know Satsuoni, I think that there's a distinct possibility Jasnah is not interested in serious relationships at all, but Ivory provides the interest? for her to study.

Ditto. From Kalak I surmised that the Division surge is highly destructive in nature. A possibility is that it is a form of 'gifting' though, I'm not ruling anything out until we know if Windrunners are limited to the 3 Lashings. And you know this how? Keep in mind that they run out of Stormlight and need regular replenishing. It is a process that takes time, but Kaladin doesn't lose all his Stormlight immediately either. Edit: removed double quote.

Is this because I mentioned Hobbes?? I miss his witty banter.

Theory: Mistings CAN use every single Allomantic ability.
DocHoliday replied to Cracknut's topic in Mistborn
@213 fuel for Allowmancy is completely different than foci for it. You can have all the gasoline in the world, but if you don't have a gas tank for it, your car is going nowhere. "Where you going? Nowhere. That's right, where you going? Absolutely. ####ing. Nowhere." Boondock Saints -
So we have another BWFWU. I'll Upvote any one who figures out what that acronym is, I've said it enough times. Why else was he laughing? LoL. Really there is a severe dichometry(did I just make up a word? Dichotomy base) with the Cryptics being Lie-spren, but asking for truth.

Is it the first Interlude? I do recall it being Szeth who states Shin have a tendency towards baldness, but I thought this was said while he was working for the gambler lord? ...Which might actually be interlude 1...I'll shut up now.

Theory: Kaladin meant to to wield a Shardblade? (Spoilers)
DocHoliday replied to Punter's topic in Stormlight Archive
Jasnah says that for every KR dedicated to battle there were 3 dedicated to scholarship or aiding mankind. Sooo I'm not sure where you're pulling the idea Ookla that KR were universally dedicated to fighting.- 42 replies

While I agree that we can't say that Odium accounts for EVERY moment of people being hate filled, or down right malicious, Sadeas that out says that he lusts and thrives for dominance on the battle field. Not even making him a Shardbearer fills the void of his need for omnipotence. He lives for the Thrill. He lives for Odium.

Theory: Who wrote "Sixty-two days, Death follows."
DocHoliday replied to YmYm's topic in Stormlight Archive
I disagree completely. A boot to the ribs followed by a Stormlight kick to the ribs saves Szeth from killing possibly ALOT of people, and simplifies his choices and burdens. He was just teasing ketchup (I presume?) My personal belief, is that Szeth definitely did not write it. If we take the epigraphs to be one long entry, similar to The Letter, 62 days is a disaster involving the Parshendi somehow. Now we have to ask why the poorly written glyph? 1 of 2 things come to mind. 1 : someone has poor handwriting, leading me to believe it was a male. The only form of literacy they find acceptable is through glyphs, and they might not have the proper macro structure for it. 2: Death or Broken follows. I think both are correct. The Final Desolation involves death to massive proportions of the population. The Broken One reigns, people. We have good reason to believe that this is Odium, the master of Desolation. I think the Desolation is in full swing after 62 days -
I can't say that Sunmaker didn't alter records, or that the Hierocracy didn't alter them. What I can say is that History is written by the victor, and Sunmaker was the last man standing, and was thus able to write and blame whatever history he wished. Remember that your referencing in world material and that can change at a moment's notice.

"The stronger the truth, the better hidden it is, the stronger or bond." You might be on to something Fishy my boy Perhaps the Cryptics are attracted to liars, but seek the truth itself. VERY odd considering lieing is the last Honorable (IMO) action a person can take.
-
Do you realize there are over FIFTY people reading this RIGHT NOW!! I don't know of I should kiss you or Skai(<-- LoL slap*) you for teasing me with MORE WoR. You bastard! I love you. @Kurkistan: I rolled off the bed when I read that, my ribs still hurt . WHY Lie-spren?? Every other spren is attracted to it's namesake, but the Cryptics ask for truth. Are they attracted to people who lie to themselves?

I don't recall the screaming, but my reread hasn't gotten there yet. I've been more active in the forums and dedicating less time to the reread since the Tor release. I will pay special attention to it shortly. I would still hesitate to assume that abandonment of formal practice of the oaths in masse would cause the Spren to die off our reject the Nahel. Lift shows is that they are attracted to the individual, due to hire they act in given circumstances. I.e. the sort of thing that causes people to act dishonorable' (Mr. T). I don't see why, assuming they had good reason, the Spren would abandon the KR entirely. Magic is an intentional act for the trained. So there's no reason to assume (presuming Darkness sites the truth) that a Nahel-bond for a master of the art to exist in tandem with a Surgebinder who doesn't actively use it. P.S. you were right about Phantom, time I went to bed and stopped pretending I was talking to someone else lol

Or the Shin are a genetically diverse group whose interbreeding has caused them to develop baldness as a trait. Similar to Asians with shanty eyes(no offense) or people of African descent having dark skin. It's a genetic trait caused in no small part by isolation.

Welcome to the forums! The information overload is amazing. ( I'm getting my little brother into WoK, but it's his first BS book and he hasn't finished) There has been much speculation as to the manner of a Shardblades creation. One current theory is that the Nahel bond forms them, another is that they are forged by Bondsmiths. My belief is that Radiants increase their level of Investiture with additional Radiants Oaths, . And with enough of them they will have enough Investiture to grant a Shard weapon by Honor.

I think that the Recreance is a distinct possibility, but it makes a few assumptions. Primely that the abandonment of arms was also the abandonment of the Spren. The spren were attracted not to the weapons, but the warriors. Now it is possible that the Nahel spren form the Blades. I just haven't seen any real evidence of it yet. As an alternate idea, I would like everyone to consider that the Great Betrayal was the enslavement of the Parshmen. We are aware that all Parshendi have a spren. We are also aware that the Parshendi are shocked by 'slave form'. Lack of spren. How does one severe the connection of an idea to an individual ? P.S. Hoser: where did Hobbes go?? I miss him
