You all make good points. So is part of the problem that while Harmony calls himself that, He still views himself as Ruin and Preservation? I think there is a WoB (not sure how to link those) that says only the Shard of Harmony would be left if Sazed died. So he is not actually Ruin and Preservation anymore. What do you think could actually help Harmony to become less paralyzed? Or does he even need to be?
-
So I have been thinking is that what Harmony really needs in order to overcome his struggle to take action is to take up Cultivation as a Shard. It seems like part of the problem is that Preservation and Ruin are not really directed at anything. What to preserve, what to ruin, and why? But with Cultivation, there may be more of a direction. A point to the preservation and ruin. The only thing is, that it still just basically feels like that is Cultivation. Maybe it would be the Shard of Growth or Progression. I don't know that this will actually happen, but it seems like it might be something that would help.

This is hard. There are so many good ones. 1. Thor: Ragnarok: Easily the best Thor movie, perfect blend of humor and seriousness, Cate Blanchett was awesome, just loved it. 2. GotG Vol 2: I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I liked but didn't love the first one so wasn't sure what to expect. But I feel similarly to this one as I do Thor: Ragnarok in that it was a great blend of humor and seriousness. Did not expect all the feels this gave me. 3. Avengers: Infinity War: 10 years of set-up with very few duds and this paid off big time. So great 4. Avengers: The first big get together. Such great individual characters who came together in believable ways, had believable relationships, and believable interpersonal conflicts. Loki was a fantastic villain. (And truly is one of my favorite characters in the whole MCU. RIP) 5. Iron Man: The one that started it all. This placement may be a little bit of nostalgia. But at the time I think it was the most complex super hero movie I had ever seen. Tony's arc and growth were great. His personality was great. His relationship with Pepper was great. Honorable mentions to Black Panther and Spider-Man: Homecoming. I can't wait for more of these guys. Easily the best Spider-Man movie of all versions. Black Panther was visually stunning, and had fantastic characters all around. Unpopular opinion: I never could get emotionally invested in Dr. Strange. It just fell flat for me even though the magic was cool. I liked him more in Infinity War. Overall I love the MCU. I love how the characters are all superheroes but have their own unique personalities. They all feel very real to me. I love that one movie can just be so funny and I love it, while others are more serious, and I still love it.

I'm not sure how likely it is, but I would love it if there was a little baby Ladrian in the books. Maybe I just read the wrong books, but I feel like people having babies is rarely a thing in the books I read. And I would love to have it. It is such a life changing event. It would be really interesting in a Sanderson book where characters and plot mix so well.

Stormlight Movie Casting

Please no one hate me for this but since the Oathbringer art and seeing The Greatest Showman, I can't stop seeing Zendaya as Shalash. But I like the other choices on this list and Lupita is great so I'd love seeing her anywhere as well. -
[OB] Dalinar, Lift, and the Nightwatcher

She is definitely aging now. I'm just not sure she was always aging normally. And yes she is definitely an unreliable narrator. Glad I wasn't crazy. I agree that I think she is a lot older. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if she was even hundreds of years "old" due to the old magic stopping her age and it now just recently is aging again. She is just this amazing odd mix of immaturity and deep understanding. And sometimes I feel like her immaturity is hiding something about her. That is actually a really interesting idea. -
Warbreaker movie casting (dream list) *spoilers*
Philomath replied to BreathTaker's topic in Warbreaker
But the Returned essentially look however they feel (albeit subconsciously) is perfection or just as they should. One returned looks like a grandma. Another a child. They don't age. There is no reason Susebron would look 50. In fact I think it is reasonable that he looks like someone in his prime. Maybe mid twenties. Most movies now days have teenagers played by twenty and thirty year olds so I don't think their relationship would really look odd on screen.- 99 replies

I'm not sure you would have beads for locations like Alethkar or even Kholinar. Those are strictly locations. The palace while large is still an object. It is more of a landmark than a general location. Now it is possible that the rooms in the palace can have a bead of their own as well. What matters is the object's perception of itself. A broken vase will still have one bead in Shadesmar right after being broken until the pieces began to think of themselves as individuals. I think there is a WoB out there about ingredients being made into a cake and how those essentially integrate into one bead. So the kitchen in Kholinar palace could view itself as a single thing because it could cognitively view everything in it as necessary for its purpose of being a kitchen. While the knives in a drawer have their own beads because they view themselves cognitively as individual objects with their own purposes. And the palace still has a view of itself and everything in it as THE Kholinar palace.

Okay so just a few questions about these two and their visit to the Nightwatcher. In world the assumption is you ask the Nightwatcher for a boon and you get that for the price of receiving a curse as well. Now we know that Dalinar's visit was slightly abnormal given that Cultivation intervened and pruned his memories. And it ended up not really being a boon/curse situation. But Dalinar didn't remember that. So what did he think he asked for? It seems he assumed his curse was losing his memories. But never mentioned what he thought he gained. Now my question on Lift is do we know when she went to the Nightwatcher? I think it is implied that she asked to not change and that effected how she aged right? Or did I totally misunderstand that. For some reason I have it in my head that she doesn't age normally. And also has the food to investiture thing going on. And I think people have speculated that Cultivation intervened with Lift too. But we also know that Cultivation told Dalinar she hadn't stepped in for a long time. So is it possible the Lift is actually really old? But stayed really young for a long time? And now started aging because Cultivation was ready for her to just like she planned for Dalinar's memories to return. (I apologize if I am super off base in thinking Lift ages weird. I can't remember why I think that and am suddenly second guessing myself.)

I really felt connected to Steris the first time reading Mistborn Era 2. We aren't totally alike, but I definitely related to the not being popular and part of the in crowd. Unlike Steris, I just don't even try to be fashionable or appear to fit in though. I do enjoy reading comment sections (and forums apparently) to gauge what people think about things. (I like to know what is going on in people's heads.) So that is similar to her trying to understand high society and things like that. I also like lists and being organized. (Not quite to the Steris extent but I get it.) I also related to her really being the most normal character ever written. And I love Brandon for writing her. She really is just a normal, every day person who got caught up in the adventure. And I'm really just your average Joe/plain Jane type who doesn't mind having adventures every now and again. So basically what I'm trying to say is Steris is my absolute favorite character and the one I relate most to because she feels the most real to me based on how relatively normal she is. And I think she is wonderful.

I agree! Not that I picture him as any specific person, but it is hard to see him as anything but Polynesian. And red-headed chops just isn't it.

In Hawaiian, the apostrophe indicates what is called a glottal stop. Basically the kind of pause/sound in the word "uh-oh" in the English language. Since their names are based on Polynesian languages I assume it would apply here. Thus I would assume that this is the only place in his name where there would be a pause despite the name itself meaning the equivalent of a short poem. If I recall correctly,(but I'm not as sure on this) it is also something in Hawaiian where they combine their words into names to give a specific meaning so it could be lots of little words put together in a long name to be poetic. Regarding what will happen with Rock in the future, I just know I can't wait for it. I loved him in Oathbringer. And the whole series really. I am intrigued with the idea of him being a Bondsmith instead of a Windrunner but I would be fine either way. If he is going to be a Bondsmith though, I would rather him bond the Nightwatcher than the Sibling because I don't want him to be stuck in Urithiru as is suspected of the bondsmith associated with the Sibling. I would love to see more interactions with his family and I am looking forward to learning more of his backstory and about Horneaters in general.

I'm not sure if I agree with the Unmade/Heralds theory but it would be interesting if the Everstorm was a tenth unmade now that Taln has broken. The everstorm is new specifically this time and wasn't summoned until after he had returned.

Could it have possibly been Lirin? Tien just doesn't seem like he would have ever had a demanding voice. (I interpret the voice itself as demanding. Not that Syl felt compelled to listen) And it seems like Kaladin may have spent more time with his dad than his brother since he was basically his dad's apprentice and Tien wasn't good in the surgery. Lirin had a huge impact on young Kaladin. And on the struggles Kaladin is now facing with knowing who you can save.

@Scion of the Mists Thanks. I realized they could just store some to retrieve later after I posted that and felt silly. Ha ha. I didn't know you could learn to give partial breath. That is cool.

So part of this is confusing to me. It has been a while since I read Warbreaker so correct me if I'm wrong. But I thought giving breath to other people was an all or nothing thing. You can't just give them some of your breath. So someone wanting to become an awakener and use breath would have to find a Nalthian who, regardless of how many breaths they have, would have to be willing to become a drab.

I want this to be true so much. From the little we got of her, I really liked her. And (though I am not much invested in ships and their results so long as they are narratively satisfying) I really want her and Kaladin to get back together. -
