I'll see what I can do a bit later, but I'm pretty sleep deprived still. Anything I come up with might be tainted. Right now, I suspect he was targeted because he seemed to have links to several people who he'd confirmed village and who he'd in return been able to prove himself to. Or it was submitted earlier in an attempt to make Seventh Saint seem more suspicious (just in case he didn't die), since Mailliw had a hand in pushing for that. @Mailliw772, I unfortunately can't move forward with your request this turn. Something has come up that's a bit more pressing. But I will try next turn.

So, three spammers down, unknown number to go. I agree with Fura that they likely already used the conversion. If not, it will probably be used tonight. Of the spammer roles remaining, we know Babaji exists, which is why I highlighted the name red above. I suspect we have either Beirst or Vashikaran, but not both. Otherwise all that together would have been a lot of protect/roleblock/survival in general. There's a good chance SookeSiled is not in the game. Has anyone's ability been activated without them using it? In all, I think we're down to two eliminators, possibly three depending on the Babaji conversion.

Worldbuilding advice you'd give to new/aspiring writers
Elandera replied to Elandera's topic in Creator's Corner
Thank you all so much! This presentation isn't until the end of June, so if anyone thinks of anything else, I'd gladly accept it. -
That's a reasonable progression to her being Spammer. I'll go ahead and switch my vote. Devotary, just in case there's any vote shenanigans we aren't already accounting for, especially with the suspect role name claim.

So your reasoning for thinking she's Babaji is that the role is important enough that she'd be protected by her teammates indefinitely until the ability is used?

I'm not against lynching Devotary, but I'm not entirely sure I'm convinced on the arguments against her regarding her vote D1. And as for her role, I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, for now. We're all basing this off one claim from CadCom, and some (in my opinion) understandable hedging from Devotary. I understand not claiming exactly which role she had right away, when it's now apparent that it's a valuable role to whichever side she's on. If it's village, she'd become a quick spammer target just in case she can keep protecting herself. If she's spammer, then she becomes a quick target for village lynch. I'm willing to let her have one more night turn, mostly because I'm more suspicious of Fifth at the moment.

I'll put my call out again for a vote count. Unfortunately, I am at work and have a few responsibilities to get to (I really shouldn't even be on right now), otherwise I'd put one together myself. For now, Seventh Saint.

Yes, it could have been distancing, but I see several issues with that. Laying a vote on a teammate without making sure the given reasons for said vote would be resolved is a major risk. Especially when that player turned out to be Temptation. Also, this is not outside my realm of normal. Whenever I run into the issue of not finding anything suspicious, especially on D1, I lean toward voting on those who are less- or inactive. As the turn went on, I left my vote on Road because I felt no need to take it off. They were lurking, but not posting, which I found extremely odd. Especially when all most of the votes were looking for was a simple greetings post. As votes built up against other people, I didn't have any solid enough suspicions to move the vote and was very content with an inactive lynch.

Whoa, that was a lot to catch up on, and a lot of posts being added while I caught up. First things first, Rand. His arguments seem reasonable, and I'm willing to give him a chance to prove his role. I'll hold off for now on joining the Crimsn wagon, mostly because I haven't thoroughly read the arguments for or against it yet.

It was the simpler one. I'm still not sure how to confirm the other, especially with the PMs closed.

With a substantial break (finally) in my hectic weekend, I decided to get some analysis done. My top suspect at the moment is Rand. It's not much, but it's more than I was able to glean while reading the prior cycle. @Aranduensis He states in the first one that voting on an inactive (who turned out to be Temptation) felt like a bad idea, then followed it up with saying he didn't feel strongly about any lynches. His removal of his vote on myself was four hours after his first post after my real analysis post. While that’s not obvious spammer, it seemed to come after realizing there was no longer a strong argument against me, nor anyone else willing to join. Combine that with the placement of his vote (the first after Ada posted the first, and very reasonable, argument against me while Temptation was in the lead) and it just feels off. He then never placed a final vote, which again isn’t 100% spammer (could have been RL things), but all together gives me a bad vibe. I'm willing to give Steel the benefit of the doubt. His recent arguments do seem to fit his exasperated village playstyle (sorry Steel ). And at the time, his votes were reasonable, if not poorly timed with the results of last turn's kills. @tiny wilson, that one I was waiting for validation on has proved themselves.

Ah. Okay, that makes sense. I'm considering a stronger spammer vibe from Steel. The placement of his vote was to join an already growing bandwagon on a roleless eliminator. While not inherently suspicious, it did put the spammers one step closer to saving Temptation, potentially within one vote and some RNG luck.

If you've heard from three people claiming to have that role, two of those are lying. EDIT: Sorry, I re-read what exactly you wrote. But it still stands. One of the two claims you received is a lie.

I apologize for my absence yesterday (aside from the occasional PM). I still haven't been able to go over what happened in the last turn, but should have some time late tonight. I'm super disappointed about the PMs. *shakes fist angrily at the corpse of Jon* I suspect some of the early votes on Guest were from villagers unhappy with lynching an inactive. But some of the later votes I suspect may have been elims resigned to one of them dying, and deciding it would be better to have the roleless one go, rather than Temptation. Good shot for whoever decided to target Road anyway (if it wasn't some kind of accidental misdirection, that is).

It's possible, but the manip to me seems village, since we know the elim roles and not need seem to have apparent manipulation. However, that's based on a quick refresher skim, so I could be wrong. A bus off Road toward Guest if they're both elim doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Up until the last 12 hours or so, there were plenty of other, better candidates to attempt that kind of move that wouldn't include killing their own. It's still possible that some elims bussed (knowing they'd lose a roleless), but I don't think it was to save Road. I hope that all makes sense. Again, still up way past my bedtime.

That makes more sense. It's possible someone village voting on Guest had a good hunch on them, and opposed killing Road for inactivity. I'm up far past my bedtime, so I may have been reading a bit too much into your word choice.

What do you mean "opposing side"? We know all of the roles of the Spammers (which I can't find any direct vote manipulation), so are you then opposed to the village? Also, I doubt spammers would remove a vote from the only other valid target available when theirs was second in line.

That's adorable! Is she able to create a crochet pattern for it? I'd love to have it so I can make one for myself

The systems sound like they are a good starting point. The first sounds like a telekinesis kind of magic. I'd definitely suggest coming up with some limits or costs to using it. Weight is a good possibility, directly proportional to the user's level of spark. Range is a good limit too. The second is interesting, and could be very useful in a variety of ways. Does the user have to contact the substance they want to change, or just see it? Does it work on a living person? As for the third, it sounds almost like the first one, just more limited because they have to contact. How will it be different than being able to push and pull? Overall, consider things like how it works. What's required to use it? Can someone else block out the user because their spark is stronger? What kind of world is it in, and how would the magic impact it, vice versa?

Hello! It's been a while since I've been in this part of the forum. I'm requesting a bit of help and a few ideas. This summer, a company I work with (we help people with the process of self-publishing) is holding a writers' retreat. I've been tasked with instructing the segment on worldbuilding. I'm pretty well-versed in the topic, but I'd like to get other opinions as I put together my plan. What advice would you give to someone who's just getting into writing? What do you wish you would have known? Is there any particular part of worldbuilding you love to see in books you read? What authors (outside of Sanderson) do you think do a good job at worldbuilding? Why? Thanks! Also for a bit of background, I've already gone through Sanderson's videos about worldbuilding and plan to incorporate some of the ideas.

While that's possible, I don't see it being the case. Mostly because Elephant voted second on Road when there was only one vote on each person (or close enough to just two that vote manipulation could make that move dangerous). EDIT: Also, if Road is Elephant, and not able to post in the thread, that would make it painfully obvious who the controller is of a role that's dependant on remaining anonymous. That mechanic would only work of the GM was relying on inactivity, which no GM wants.

Now that I've had a bit of sleep, and a few hours before I have to go back to the craziness that is work, I'll attempt some more solid analysis. @Adavantos and @Aranduensis, I apologize for my half-baked suspicion. Your votes are understandable and justified in response to my lack of effort. It was based solely on a quick skim of the thread due to restricted time. Now that I'm going back through, I realize most of my suspicion was baseless. Arand has brought up some very good points to consider, such as not revealing specific abilities, just role names, in PMs because spambots don't know what roles elim (villagers) have. And I agree with Adavantos. We need some more people posting less RP/troll posts, and more real contributions that can provide reads (myself included). Though that seems to be picking up now that we're further on in the thread. My opinion of Fura is not a clearing of Fura at all. It's simply a village lean. Her questions and conjectures seem similarly motivated to her last game as village. However, she was once a sneaky elim, too, so I don't plan on letting a first impression tint my view of her for the whole game. As for Mailliw772 (Lumgol, I believe?), her vote on Rae also seems similar to how she played last LG, also as a village, so I don't find her activity inherently suspicious. Some of the people I'd like to see some more contributions from include @May I suggest The Only Joe, @NotASteelClone, @Guest103492, @Kidpen, @I think I am here., @Snipexe, @Jondesu and @xinoehp512. All of them have posted something, but most of their posts lack substance. I'm leaving my vote on Road for now, but should they post, I'm considering Itiah. While a conversion is possible, there's something off about this post: It seems to be an effort to keep us from clearing an already cleared villager. My guess at this point, based on others' analysis, is Elephant can't be targeted by a conversion directly, but it would have to be their player that's targeted if it's going to be effective. So as long as Elephant stays anonymous, we should be able to rely on them. This could probably be easily tested by anyone who has a non-harmful (just in case I'm wrong) ability. Ninja'd by Rae and Steel. Steel, any particular reason for the vote? ---- If Stacy was going to figure out the real bots, she needed some more knowledge about Sanderson Elimination in general. So she skimmed through the thread from the beginning. One thing she noticed was all the people who've played before. So many names that were no longer around, apparently. It was almost sad to see people pass into non-existence as she continued skimming the forum. One she wished would return was Herowannabe. He seemed to be around in other parts of the forum, but no longer graced the halls of SE. What a shame. There were so many other legendary players. What a treat it would be to have them all in the same place again.

Alright, we've had pretty good turnout for the first 24-ish hours. The only one who hasn't posted is @reklawdaoR, so reklawdaoR. I'll remove the vote once you've posted. Probably. As for analysis on everyone else, most posts seem pretty troll-ish. For now, I lean village on Fura (seemed honest about their opinions on Sapphire Elephant, and it would have been a good point had Joe not clarified). I'm a bit suspicious of Adavantos and Aranduensis. I can't really say what it is in particular (it may honestly be them having a good part of the troll-ish-ness of the game so far), but I definitely want to keep an eye on them. I haven't really gotten any read on anyone else. Unfortunately, this weekend is a bit hectic for me (working overtime shifts along with a shift change means I only get one day off, which will be spent with my sister who's chosen the most inopportune weekend to visit), so I don't know how much I'll be able to delve into things until the next cycle.
