  1. Debating between Illwei and Tani. For Tani, I am side-eyeing their hesitance to vote on anyone substantial. I don't remember seeing that last game (though I wasn't paying a ton of attention, so that could just be me), and even after Matrim said someone was going to die, they insisted on voting for candidates who couldn't be exed. Makes me wonder if they're elim and one of their teammates is in the running on poke votes. (For reasons why we need to vote, see this.) While I see the humor in the votes on Matrim and Sadeas, it still seems a little distancey. I think it's odd that Illwei so quickly gave Araris a village pass. Never give Araris a village pass on D1. However, I've never quite understood Illwei and so end up thinking them elim as a result more of then than not. Usually, I'm wrong. Tani EDIT: Vote count, because I'm curious Illwei (1) - Archer Tani (1) - Elandera Archer (3) - Araris, Striker, Quinn Whysper (1) - Illwei Random (1) - TJ
  2. The usual festive air at the feast that night was notably subdued as Telanah stepped past Wit, ignoring his jibe at her appearance. She'd heard rumors of Highprince Hatham's distant relation being murdered, but it seemed to have more of an effect on the crowd than she'd have expected. It wasn't like he had been all that important, after all. True, he was third dahn and a highlord, but not a prince or anything. There were enough highlords that the death of one wouldn't be significant. Or so she'd thought. There was something else happening. Something below the surface. She needed to find out what it was. Ignoring the food - a mystery was far more interesting than curry, no matter if it had been prepared by the king's own cooks - Telanah started mingling in the crowd. Though she also was of the third dahn, it did not grant her access to all conversations, or even to all islands at the feast. Still, that did not keep her from eavesdropping. "... right outside their meeting. He hadn't even made it two steps from the door," one man said in tones only he thought were hushed. He must have been a few drinks into the violet wine. "And no one noticed? They were feet from him, and you're telling me none of the Highprinces heard?" his companion asked, clearly not believing the claim. "Or they didn't want to hear. Maybe they planned it." That was interesting. Telanah moved on before they took notice of her lurking nearby and found another group of people. One she could join. "It's a coup," said one woman whose name Telanah couldn't recall. She was of little importance and quite annoying. Her voice grated on the nerves, but she was usually full of the latest gossip. "I've heard that he had written a note in his own hand that someone was going to try to kill him. Something about a war among the Highprinces." "That's ridiculous." One of the men in the group scoffed. "He was a good Vorin man. He wouldn't have written something." "But he did. I heard it from a woman who's sister is the scribe who read the note to Highprince Kholin. The best part?" The woman glanced over her shoulder, then leaned in with a grin. "It says Highprince Sadeas is responsible." The group let out a collective gasp. Everyone knew that the tensions between the Kholin and Sadeas families had grown exponentially of late, but no one expected it to escalate beyond political maneuvers. This, though? Murder? That certainly reeked of a coup attempt. Telanah grinned and glanced at the King's island where he feasted with both Highprinces. The tension was almost visible like static in the air, even from a distance. This would certainly be an interesting feast.
  3. It was another very close game, but time to close the thread! Congratulations to the Followers of Mysteries for your victory over the others. Thank you, Elkanah, for the fantastic game in the world of Elantris. It was great to see a different part of the world outside of what we usually see in games on Sel. As always, if anyone would like to try their hand at running a game, please get ahold of Wilson, Devotary of Spontaneity, Elbereth, Araris Valerian, or myself, or post in the GM Signups & Discussion Thread. Not only will we get you added to the list, but we'd also be more than willing to help out in any way we can. You can also ask questions and get some hints and feedback from everyone in our Art of Game Creation thread. With all the games that we've run so far, we have plenty of experienced GMs that can help you refine any game you're thinking about. If you would rather keep some detail secret, or are self-conscious about posting in thread (there's really no need to be; while we do slaughter each other, we are very polite about it), then I'm sure one of our fantastic committee members (Amanuensis, STINK, Sart, Fifth Scholar, Straw, Haelbarde, and Young Bard) would be more than willing to help you out in private. Thanks again to everyone that played, and we look forward to killing seeing you in future games!
  4. Nearly a year since this game began, it's time to close down the thread. A huge thanks again to Wilson and El for running this chaos-monster of a game. You both did a great job pulling in all of our wild suggestions for rules. Congratulations to the Librarians for rooting out the Smedry and Crystal Knights. Good game to Straw, especially, for surviving on his own for so long. 5. A huge thanks to DeTess for running this unique game. The subsets made for a very interesting mechanic to navigate. Congratulations to my fellow EBI Agents for their win, and especially to shanerockes and Rathmaskal for their hard work through the whole game. And to the Loyalists, don't be disheartened. You fought well! 6. Another thread to close up. Thanks everyone who played this game and made it enjoyable, even if you hadn't yet read Skyward. Congratulations again to the members of the DDS. You did a great job finding and rooting out the Disputers. To those who were the Disputers, you also did a great job this game, especially Abstrusity for surviving until the last. That is true defiance. 7. Time to close this one up, too. Thanks everyone for playing! This has to be one of my favorite games that I've run simply because of the Alcatraz style I could use in the write-ups. Congratulations again to those who defeated the Liebrarians (sus lot, they were). You all played fantastically, especially the Librarians who had the game stacked against them with mechanics. I hope to run this again in the future and fix some of that. 8. It's been a long while since the end of this game. Thank you Straw for running it. It was a pleasure to play. And congratulations again to all seven of the winners this game: Elkanah, StrikerEZ, Wonko the Sane, Manukos, Lemonelon, Stick, and Elbereth! 9. Metals. Yes, metals. There was more need for it now. Now that the spiked were taking over. Spikes for everyone. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. I swallow more pewter. Must live. Must stay alive. But I do not need to act any longer. The misties won't be a problem. The spiked will have their retribution regardless of my sanity. Or insanity. --- Hello! Amazing game, @Kasimir. Even though I wasn't entirely engaged in the whole thing, it was still a ton of fun. I especially loved the chance to RP in this game. The mad metallurgist was great. Thanks to those who defended my change in playstyle to be more RP inclined. I plan to continue that in the future because I simply don't have the time/energy it takes to maintain my deep analysis style with the sheer quantity of posts in recent meta. Hopefully I won't be so pocketed in the future. My three main PMs were all elims... @Mailliw73, I'm not sure what pocketed me either, but a lot had to do with my inability to really track the thread and what was happening there. You seemed so honest in the PM. I should know better than that.
