  1. Correct, it falls under the harassment segment.
  2. In this case, that we do not allow homophobia or transphobia on our platforms.
  3. I feel like his legal team would be better able to answer questions, but I wouldn't call it cruel to bring up, I'd just expect his response to be like "I [have/haven't] heard about this and our lawyers [are already/will get around to] dealing with it".
  4. We like to keep it around for a little longer after June just to show that while June is when Pride is celebrated, we support LGBTQ+ people all year long. The rainbow icons and logos everywhere in June are nice, but sometimes they can feel a bit corporate or halfhearted, and we want to make it clear that our support is wholehearted and genuine. It'll go back to normal colors in a few more weeks or months - I don't have a definite date for you - but generally we do keep it for a while after June, these last few years since we've started doing it. (And even when the logo does go back, our policies do not change.)
  5. No worries, misunderstandings happen!
  6. Ack, sorry, I'm just now seeing this! I thought that regular members had the ability to pin in their own blogs but it seems like that's a mod permission like thread pinning is. So if someone else pinned something, then you'd be able to sort by it, but I guess you can't yourself. Let me know if you want anything in your blog pinned and I can do that for you. (Though I can't promise a super-timely response )
  7. ...why? XD People on 17S do date each other. I've dated someone I met on 17S before. Two of our mods are married and met on the Coppermind. We don't ban people for dating each other lol Yes. MY BELOVED
  8. So that's giving you the chance to sort by blog posts you have pinned, not saying you currently have something pinned. To pin a post, you can go to Entry Actions at the bottom of the post: or you can use the checkboxes on the main blog page to pin more than one at a time:
  9. Hello all! We're making this post to make it clear that the pronouns field on your profile is intended for serious use, and not as a second member title space. If you want to give yourself a title, share your status, or have some small saying displayed on your posts, the place for those is in your member title or signature, not in the pronouns section. Why is this? Because we want pronouns to be easy to distinguish, and it's a separate field for a reason. This isn't to say stop having fun and putting silly things on your profile - but there are multiple other spaces to do that, and this one has a specific purpose. Especially with a few people using neopronouns or rarer pronouns, we want it to be clear what is the way someone wants to be referred to, and what's just for fun. I encourage people to remove extraneous words or titles that don't have to do with gender or to put them elsewhere on your profiles. Mods may edit your profile and remove them for you in the future if you do not do so.
  10. I had fun with those lol What even is that emoji, I can't tell XD It's 10pm in Utah.
  11. April Fools is fun and some messing around is totally okay, but targeting a specific person to annoy, even if they're an admin, crosses the line. Spamming and double posting also aren't allowed; you still can't break forum rules, even today.
  12. ahhh, but you didn't anticipate a SNEAK ATTACK
  13. This isn't currently something that's possible to do; I'm not sure if it could be set up to do this on the backend.
  14. Elsecaller Cool to see someone here whose favorite was Chasmfriends, I think you're the first I've seen who liked that one the best, @IcedOutPenguin!
  15. The quote box in bmcclure7's post led to this message, which I'm guessing was an accident both based on them not replying to that message and the quote box being weird and glitchy. I've deleted the quote box. I'll also throw out a reminder while I'm here that we ask people not to double post in a short time on the forums - reviving something old with a good purpose is different, but if it's the same day it's better to edit your message to add what you want instead.
  16. I don't believe they/them was used for Rushu in the book - you might be thinking of they/them being used for the Sibling, or possibly on Rushu's Coppermind page (an edit that was made after getting a Word of Brandon on the subject)? I'll also throw out there that singular they/them isn't really new to the English language, it's been used when a single person's gender is not known or specified for a long time too. Another thing I want to point out is that it only seems new. Gay, trans, and otherwise queer people have existed throughout history, being called various things and treated various ways in various cultures. The numbers of people openly being who they are have risen, and it's easier to notice now because of that, but we were always there. I appreciate that you're trying to listen and be kind in conversations like this! I don't find this argument convincing. Many humans share an attraction to the actions which produce children, but it's not the overpowering biological imperative some seem to think it is. I'm attracted to plenty of things which are outright dangerous and do absolutely nothing to make a baby happen. I get the ick from some things which would directly contribute to making a baby happen. People are weird. Edit: oh, something I forgot to add as I was on my way out the door - I should have extended the "let's not with the ape comparisons" to primates in general. Baboons and trolls are generally not depicted as having human levels of intelligence or sapience, distinctly unlike singers. In addition to being a loaded comparison, it just doesn't make much sense in this context? No one is suggesting getting it on with beings that can't consent.
  17. Hi all! Popping in with a few quick notes. First, while you're welcome to continue politely expressing your personal opinions on interspecies relationships, the level of similarity to humans or relatability of nonhuman species, and how various works compare to Wind and Truth in these areas, I'm letting you all know as a courtesy that christianrapper will be unable to respond to posts or engage in further discussion themself from here on out. I wanted to address this specifically as well. This is incorrect. Conversations about Renarin and Rlain being gay and how that affects their relationship and storylines are perfectly welcome here and would not be locked, as such a conversation would be relevant to the books. Gay people and gay relationships are not political. What WOULD be moderated is any homophobia that cropped up on such threads. We do not allow homophobia here [see our Code of Conduct]; if anyone happens to notice any, please report the posts so we can deal with it. While the staff team appreciates members trying to keep discussions from getting heated, you don't need to try and get people to stop the conversation. If you feel that things have escalated to a fight, please report it, and mods will decide how to handle it. Sometimes it may just be a couple individuals who need to be spoken to, sometimes the thread may need to be locked for a short time to calm down, sometimes a public post advising people to remember our Best Practices for Posting in Debates or Contentious Conversations can do the job. It will vary. But stepping away for a moment if you find yourself getting sharp or the temperature is overall rising can be very helpful! I think it would be best if we avoided the sapient ape comparison from here on out. Now, for my own part - personally I don't find "human" to be on a list of requirements that my own potential partners must meet. Of course we haven't discovered anything else capable of consenting in our own world, but were I on Roshar, I would have no problems dating a singer or a spren and so on. For many people, nonhuman bodies or singer bodies can even be considered a bonus, spikes and all. Even if humans weren't often attracted to all kinds of things, sexual attraction doesn't have to be a component in every romantic relationship, even between humans, and desire to reproduce definitely doesn't either. Successful relationships can even be had between people with different levels of attraction to each other. I'm sure a relationship between me and someone who isn't human would have discussion and negotiation and learning and compromise, maybe more than most relationships. But for me none of that's a dealbreaker.
  18. Sanderson Fan Works with spoiler warnings does work!
  19. Definitely an OP character but I'm fine approving him, looks good!
  20. Hi, sorry for the delay! Been very busy lately. I actually don't drink much of either - in fact I'm not sure if I've ever had caffeinated tea? Herbal tea maybe a couple times when I was younger but I didn't really like it, and then as a teen and young adult I tried coffee a couple times, but was pretty meh on the taste (I know you can add sugar and stuff, but why do that when I can just get hot chocolate from the start) and it made me sleepy instead of buzzy, so I never really got into it. My family has two dogs! Their names are Oliver and Duckie. Ollie's a red heeler mix and Duck's a golden retriever. Oh man, is this a situation where I can still do stuff but I can't change any major plot points or decisions, or am I fully just trapped in the body unable to do anything but precisely what they did during the events of their book? If the latter, I would pick someone with a very short life so I didn't have to be trapped for very long. This would be hard in the other direction for noncosmere, so many choices I wouldn't mind (if I wasn't fully an observer for years and years), but in the cosmere it's hard to decide...mmmmmmaybe Marasi or Steris? They're mostly pretty okay, right? I think my final choice is Steris. Unrelated to anything, I just noticed I'm at 8,999 posts, so this is my nine thousandth, fun.
  21. I appreciate the good intent, but let's not diverge into politics here, particularly not after the thread hasn't been posted on in months. (If anyone wants to revive the actual topic, that's fine.)
  22. *one google later* that I don't particularly want to eat them, but then I don't for most greens, tbh. Sprouts are alright and they seem similar so maybe they'd be okay. Yeah I do remember that! Honestly it's unclear why any of them who have ~special abilities~ have them, right? Unless I'm forgetting explanations. Just because sometimes cats are special, I guess. Soft magic lol
  23. Don't know what was going on here but to check, has this happened again at all?
  24. Ohh I thought the comma after what was part of the riddle I think parliament fits ravens better, if anything, so I'll stick with murder for crows. I don't remember disliking him either! Just didn't stand out. I do suspect I will find him more interesting on another read - kid me was obsessed with mind reading (okay, still am) but you can do some really fun stuff with immortality/fast healing too. And there are a lot of cats with character arcs I'm excited to see what I think about now. also go eat some food lol
  25. It isn't. (I can't figure out what a 'type of a' is, to be honest. But the answer is probably not murder.) lmao oh no Lionblaze please forgive me. I am still building up my collection of Warriors books before starting a reread (box set of the first four novella collection books arrived today, actually!), so it's not super fresh on my brain. I'll throw out Ivypool and Jayfeather as being remembered faves, I think. Favorite real cat...maybe a friend's cat who he said normally takes ages to warm up to new people but was chilling with me and asking for pets on my first meeting with her. I was getting a good grade in cat, something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve,
