I'm almost certain one of Elend's seekers would have heard it if that were so. Somebody would have mentioned it, and yet everybody treats Vin like she's lost her marbles when she mentions it.

Theory: Each Shard has a Corresponding Number
Observer replied to The Lord Ruler's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The only time I remember anybody mentioning 9 original allomancers was in the HoA epigraphs, and when Sazed said 9, he included TLR. I'm assuming in the Steel Ministry's teachings, there were only 8 originals, TLD being exluded from the group. Make sense? Or did I fail again? -
If TLR can push on metals in the stomach, I get the feeling enough bronze can pierce beats in the body.

I'm just wondering how effective atium would be against a slider inside a bubble. Would your reaction time still be good enough to block the super-speed punches? Really, it's just like a steel compounder. Can eithe rone of those beat Atium?

Alright, here's a wierd idea. Do we know what happened to the KR? I had this crazy dream that they turned into Parshendi, and figured I'd post it. I still wonder if Odium's messed with history. The thing about visions can't be just a passing detail. It's going to pop up later in full force.

In the logbook there's bit that says "Rashek thinks I wear the piercings of the hero unjustly". Apparently Ruin screwed up the legends enough that they spiked Alendia quite nicely, which explains his power with bronze. EDIT: Found it

Theory: Each Shard has a Corresponding Number
Observer replied to The Lord Ruler's topic in Cosmere Discussion
When it says "Original nine" it includes TLR. In the mythology, TLR had 8 friends he gave allomancy, he wasn't counted as one of them. -
Totally forgot about that. Melikey. EDIT: Re-read Final Empire, Kelsier specifically states that all Feruchemy is internal. So my theory of WHY U NO ANVIL? is correct EDITEDIT: Wait. We have 2 more trilogies on the way. What are the odds that Feruchemy is all puzzled out by now? Pretty bad. What if it isn't really fortune that's being stored? I mean, how would you know? With strength you can tell because suddenly you have no muscle, with speed you move in slow motion, but luck? They probably just found themselves stubbing their toe on everything and assumed it was luck. What if it's not? Crazy idea. It doesn't work well with storing, but for tapping it might. What if, when tapping luck, it's sort of like Wild Magic in [insert title from my bad memory here]? You cast a spell to find a key, and later that day you help a little girl get her cat out of a tree and it so happens you key is up there too. What if you get lucky simply because, I don't know, you become closer to Harmony and follow some path he sets for you, and a touch of fortune is the byproduct? I'm grasping at straws here, but think what if? What if I'm right, and fortune isn't really fortune?

We know that Sazed restored the Kandra after he became Harmony. The Kandra's personality seems to be a combo of the two blessings used to make them, so by re-using the same rods, the kandra were restored.

Theory: Each Shard has a Corresponding Number
Observer replied to The Lord Ruler's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I highly doubt each shard has a number. I'm fairly sure the reason 16 and 10 keep popping up is some insinct or memory in the shards, something about those numbers holds signifigance to them. -
I suppose that works. I also find it interesting that people may have worshipped Ruin back in Alendi's day.

I always assumed that the more powerful the more it took to snap them. No mere mistsickness would snap the Seers, they needed a more powerful does of mistiness to snap. On a side note, I suppose you're right. Likewise, didn't people wear hemalurgic earings to stay in contact with their gods? If so, that could have easily been Alendi's spike. Simply a little more charged.

I'm refering to compounders. But if you locked yourself in some isolated hole while walking in circles doing nothing but store for a few hours, I'm pretty sure you'd be able to pull something like that off.

Motivation, Execution, Consequence: A Realmatic Theory
Observer replied to Kurkistan's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Wow. Nicely done Kurkistan, nicely done. Perhaps planet hopping can be done simply by entering the Shadesmard and walking there. I'm guessing that there's not a whole lot of cognitive aspect going on in-between planets, so it's possible that those gaps are represented by nonexistence in shadesmar, meaing that instead of a gap, there's just a different world that begins where one leaves off. Erm... supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.- 134 replies

It is possible. It is possible. But even being unable to control it doesn't balance it well. Sure, you may not get that massive treasure hoard, but you did get a promotion, etc. Regardless of intent, compounding would still skyrocket you in just about everything. Which is why I like the directness idea.

Harmony, by nature, doesn't interfere if he can help it. There was no reason to restore the art of hemalurgy to the world, seeing as he knows full well what happens if you try to hide knowledge. He probably found it a better option just never to leave a record of it besides the earings. We still don't know what storing invesutre does, so don't go freaking people out with your ideas of creating lerasium with feruchemy.

Mistings back in Alendi's day were like TLR in power. Aldeni was a seeker, but had his amazing uberpowers, and could hear the well. Of course, now that I'm typing this it seems rediculous that any seeker could have heard what felt unique to him, so he probably was spiked...

I'd better just start storing luck now then, since Murphy's law is in constant application to everything I do anyways. In hindsight the idea of the luck bubble feels a touch farfetched, though still possibly valid. Formulating new ideas... [The Shapeforms are Deliberating...] Bam. Luck is now an internal effect (Instead of external like we originally thought) and instead of being better at locating things and such, you are now simply like a person burning Atium, except in a defensive way, nearly untouchable. Anything you attempt to do directly (ei: get a good coin flip, or (possibly) convince a person) will go much better, but anything involving other people and objects that you aren't directly taking part in will be unaffected.

Hmm, that's very interesting. You'd think that detectablility and distance of detaction would be linked, and yet they don't appear to be. What is Brandon playing at? (Or was this overlooked? I doubt it, but it's possible)

MASSIVELY EPIC IDEA So, what if fortune can only affect the present? You can't go making Shardblades pop out of the toilet because your luck only works in the here and now. You can't find money under a rock (Left there because somebody luckily dropped it) because the luck is only working on the present, meaning nobody in the past could have conveniently dropped it there. Of course, by this same logic you could GET somebody to walk over and drop their wallet (Though I imagine it would take a lot of luck), but that can be countered by saying the spinners have a "luck bubble", an area in which their luck works. Anything outside is unaffected. (There's something else that counters this theory, but, like all my great idea, I lost it moments after I decided to type it) I like the above theory. It makes luck only really good for getting a lucky punch or, if you have yourself a ton of stored luck and time, a few easy coins. Thoughts?

There. Bam. All my questions answered. So long as they don't use their power against their intent, they're fine. So, that's why Preservation could talk a plan into motion that involved Ruining people and Shards, he simply didn't use any of his power to do it. I love it.

Series you were disappointed with...
Observer replied to ProfessorMLyon's topic in Entertainment Discussion
The Only Ones. The whole book is written the way I'd write a flashback. It totally wrecked any impact the story may have had. Plus, every 50 pages or so you get a "Mysterious" interlude with nameless people saying intentionally confusing things. ALl that did was irritate me. It didn't get me wondering, it didn't leave me intrigued, it left my annoyed. -
It's people like you that keep my lines from unintentionally murdering a story. Thanks Working on an editation.

Yes, I meant the spikes. They'd be detectable, but not much. Also note, the well gave off massive bronzebeats, yet could only be heard hemalurgically. This means the amount of power behind the ability has no effect on how easy to detect it is. Urgh, I had this wonderful theory and now it's fallen out of my head >_> Give me a moment to remember it.

It's also entirely possible that when Harmony changed anatomy back to normal, the potential for Mistborn was crushed to almost nothingness. Who knows?
