  1. Storing luck makes you unlucky, tapping it makes you lucky, not the other way around. True, you'd be able to find that oasis. But say you wanted somebody to die. Just use a massive burst of luck and either fire a shot in a random direction, or wait for a falling anvil. Luck is simply such an unbeatable, inderect force that it's hard to see how it would work.
  2. And in a few paragraphs he says what I've failed to coherently babble about for almost a whole page. Bravo.
  3. He said not all were opposites, he never mentioned pairing. I always wondered if holding a piece of a shard (A splinter) would allow you to regrow the rest of the shard so long as certain prerequisits are met, which would allow for Devotion and Dominion to come back.
  4. Much the same way a short pattern of offs and ons creates the instructions for what you want a computer to do, I think the pulses determine or filter what effect the magic has.
  5. For starts he helps save Spook from burning, which is the opposite version of what Preservation can't do. That's a pretty sweet idea actually. I'll have to think that over for a while.
  6. I don't see how storing good luck makes it a smaller amount. Elaborate for this poor stupid child
  7. So- AonDor: Easy to detect Allomancy: Easy to detect Feruchemy: Hard to detect Hemalurgy: Hard to detect Surgebinding: Hard to detect Soulcasting: Moderately difficult? Awakening: Hard to detect I'm unsure with soulcasting, since it does involve entering another realm, which I assume would freak bronze out.
  8. What I meant to say was....well, not sure exactly. I was referencing the line "Allomancy is end-positive, according to my sources" or something along those lines, which says to me that the author probably got their info indirectly.
  9. I see no reason that Bronze wouldn't be sufficient for detecting all magic systems. Sure, each planet may have its own way of doing it, but there's no reason for each method not to work on all planets based on our baseless speculation so far.
  10. It seems proven that Ruin can Preserve to Destroy, and yet the epigraphs explicitly state: Bold mine. Either Preservation was different, or Ruin and Preservation work differently than we originally assumed.
  11. Storing it would have to give you bad luck, or we'd be adding a rediculous amount of overpower to an already powerful feruchemical ability. If I had to hazard a guess, tapping luck would do something totally unpredictable, like real luck. Your intent would have nothing to do with what happened, you'd just be lucky/unlucky in all everyday affairs. Of course, that still makes compounding amazingly overpowered, just a little less so. *Sigh* I can't think straight. Maybe taking off this zincmind would help, but I kinda like being able to "Add two and two and get pickle"
  12. I thought of that. You'd have to do a gradual filling, stubbing your toe on every bump in the floor and tripping every other step, but that would help you get a lucky punch or two in. I wonder what would happen if you reduced your luck to nothing for a moment. If you were lucky, nothing would happen. Of course, that's the point...
  13. Point. The kind that goes in your eyes. Likewise, apparently Hemalurgic copper counters hemalurgic bronze, so something has to be leaking out. (Sort of like the body leaks stormlight?)
  14. I don't think copper increases your investure. It simply contains your pulses, which has a finite limit at which is ceases to gain anything, ie: Once fully inside of you.
  15. Still, how do you limit fortune? He'd have to make Chromium absurdly rare, and then he'd have to create some limitation to the power. Maybe Harmony could just never allow a Weaver(My new name for them) to be made, or maybe there would be some horrible side-effect of the compunding.
  16. Exactly. It specifically says "fortune" which may or may not be slightly more specific.
  17. He preserved Spook's life in the burning mansion in order to ruin later. The epigraphs state he could build to destroy, which is similar. As I type this I realize the invalidity of my own argument, but I'll post it anyways in case somebody takes something from it somehow.
  18. There I was, sitting in the park wondering why a frizbee gets bigger the closer it is. Suddenly it hit me...

  19. Thanks, I worked hard on it Here's another prologue starter I've been toying with, and some improvement comments would be appreciated:
  20. Before we can go and make guesses as to if Copperclouds stack, it'd be nice to know what a coppercloud is, and how it works. Is it Investure that leaks out of you in cloud-form, blocking Bronze the same way a Shardblade blocks pushes and pulls? (This is assuming it's a specialized form of investure, or that Iron and Steel are naturally stronger metals that bronze, and therefore you'd need a serious smoker to create an aluminum-field) Is it some kind of barrier that can muffle the pulses? If so, what exactly is it made of and how does it work? Does it create some kind of bubble the keeps pulses from leaving the body, which will stifle the pulses all one its own? (I like this theory actually. Like metal attatched to the body, and pulse trapped inside your heavily invested body would be very hard to detect without enhanced bronze. If the coppercloud stops the pulses from leaving you, it means they don't stack and they work a whole lot differently than we thought.)
  21. *Store till Chromiummind is full to 10 days of luck* *Eat and burn to get 100 days of luck* *Store said 100 days, eat, and burn for 1000 days of lucks* *Tap all the luck at once into one massive burst of epic luckiness while hoping to find some more Chromium in a rock* Rinse and repeat Point. Which is probably one of them many counters Brandon has set in place to avoid massive Chromium compounding. But all you really need is enough to store a few days worth of luck, which shouldn't be overly difficult, (Sazed says in WoA that even a ringmind can take a week to fill) and then compound it in order to find more Chromium, at which point you now have endless luck. Really when it comes down to it, we have no idea what the limitations of a Spinner are, and no clue how luck even works, though we can guesus fairly well. I'm guessing it'll be expounded on in the next trilogy.
  22. You are right, of course. Ruin isn't evil, not at all. However, he is a force of nature that has to destroy. It would go against the very nature of Ruin not to at the very least try to get the weak and vulnerable snapped people to die. As Alendi's logbook puts it, It's not done out of malice or hatred, it's done because that is what he does. EDIT: To my previous statements, the epigraphs of HoA explicitly state that Preservation could not destroy, even to protect. This raises questions about the nature of Ruin and his limits, as he seemed perfectly fine with preserving to destroy.
  23. Yes, I know why they're considered heresy. I'm just wondering if their history is true. What if Sunmaker was influenced by Odium or some other force, and either lied about the lack of visions or was unable to find them due to either hiddenness or Odium messing with things. Once visions became evil, any form of prophesy (like the one Preservation sent the Terris people) sent to help the people on Roshar would instantly lose most of its effectiveness. We don't know if Cultivation is dead or not, so this could be an attempt to restrict her ability to affect the world.
  24. Brandon hinted that strong enough Bronze would Feruchemy, hence my theory that it somehow became specialized to Allomancy Aons are almost guaranteed to show up. It's also possible that Elantrians themselves would emit constant beats, making hiding from a Seeker impossible for them. Could play a part in the Conflux. As far as we know, what kind of magic you can use on Roshar is limited to your order. It sort of reminds me of Mistings, the specialization and all. I'm fairly sure you'd be able to pick up on them using bronze all things considered. As for HIghstorms, we still don't know exactly what they are, but I'm reasonably sure Bronze would go nuts with it. I feel like I'd understand that if I hadn't woken up so early. I'll come back tomorrow and see if I can make sense of that last bit.
  25. Alright, finally bought WoK, my info should be a lot more accurate from now on. What if visions are considered heresy because Odium fears Cultivation or some other shard intervening and presenting the future to the right person?
