Very interesting question @Honorless !! Does Ashravan qualify as a Cognitive Shadow? Or is the new Ashravan truly a new Ashravan? (which is kind of terrifying) I don’t really think that he can qualify as a cognitive shadow because he did not really die, it was more like he was in a comma Yes I think he truly is a new Ashravan and it is scary!! I agree Mistborn spoilers I think that she created a new spirit web and superimposed it on his original spirit web. But does this superimposition heals the original web too. I think it does but the two combine together to form a third and new spiritweb. It holds because Shai made the new spiritweb as close to the original spiritweb as it was possible for Shai to make. No I don’t think Ashravan passed into the beyond because he was more like in a comma. The damage he had was more similar to being brain dead so, I think it was the cognitive aspect which was affected more! An AI was the first thing that had come to my mind too. It is like his body is the hardware and the seal runs the program created by Shai daily into the hardware. Essentially the new emperor is a robot who has been given the collective memories of Ashravan and he is going to try his best to act as close to real Ashravan as possible but he is not going to be the same a because he is not the real person, he is someone new !

I think it was nicely done. Once we begin to doubt that Vin is not HoA Normally we go straight from Vin to elend to sazed when it comes to possibilities. However in HoA, Sazed had been side- lined, he was going through a major identity and faith crisis and did not actively participate in the events at urteau. Instead spook took the leadership role there. Little did I know that it was deliberately done to shift focus from Sazed as a result when he turned out to be HoA, it came out as a real surprise!!

But What kind of bond was that? We don’t even know. And it was temporary and required Thrill to maintain. I think it is a very interesting idea and very possible. The fact that they are human singers hybrid makes it possible. Besides Rock said that back when they lived on lowlands, they were basically hunted and killed by others, may be this is the reason why.

Stormlight 4 fears: - that the love triangle is still not over ! - that Lirin will die in front of kaladin causing him to swear the fourth ideal - that radiants might lose the arm’s race to voidbringers - Nale is going to kill even more radiants - Jasnah might be torturing poor Taln, I really doubt this I hope she helps him gain his sanity instead!

Ok may be a shard already lying without a vessel. But I don’t think you can replace an active vessel via this method.

May be it still was changing it too much for Leras. I think I don’t know, may be near the end when a vessel is dying then may be because they are physically and mentally much weaker, I think the shard’s intent completely takes over. At that time, it is impossible for a vessel to even go slightest bit against shards intent. May be that’s why even this much desire for change in Elend made him unfit...? But I agree when I was reading Mistborn I had thought it could be elend and not vin.

Exactly so as long as the changed outlook does not restrict, I think it is safe to use connection to strengthen your Allomancy. Elend is right, no doubt the system needs change but may be this desire to change and not preserve status quo made him incompatible for preservation is all I am saying.

I am sorry but I don’t think it works that way at all. Shard of preservation is much more than what Lerasium beads are. Shards are essentially infinite in power and mainly reside in spiritual realm. Lerasium beads/ atium is more like 5 % of what that shard is which has manifested in metal form in physical realm. No matter how much you collect it, you are nowhere near shard level.

Ok thanks. So choking and dying seems very mundane and almost like it was feigned. I think he died (Pretended to die) in front of them, I am sure a kandra can really stop breathing and heartbeats, it’s not like they really need all that to remain alive, right? They are not going to conduct an autopsy immediately! May be they sent a servant to put his body in some room, may be his room. He used the opportunity to change into another body. May be he killed the servant keeping guard of his body and is now impersonating him.

Even before holding the shard, she is connected yes but none of that connection has prevented her from causing destruction, killing people, changing things. So your concern regarding too much connection via tapping to a shard would restrict that person! I think it will be all right. not a big issue. They can still function normally and get done what they needs to get done. As for elend, well I agree that he had a strong connection to preservation too, in fact I had always thought his connection was stronger than Vin. While reading Mistborn, I had a feeling that vin is not the HoA because you know it’s Brandon... and there is always a twist... but I had suspected Elend. Reason is because he was always visited by misty leras, he witnessed a god die. I never suspected Sazed!! But now that I think about it, I think Elend does not want to preserve the things as they are. He wanted to change the whole system. He was deeply troubled when he was emperor because he was doing the exact same things as all kings do instead of making the changes that he had dreamed of. So, may be we are wrong. He is not as connected to preservation as we thought.
