When you drive past a “Crematorium” sign and wonder why they have crem on display. When your roleplay characters read Sanderson and reference it. When people say an allomantic metal and your first thought is the allomantic/feruchemic property. -

Today is the one-year anniversary of me joining the shard (and my 1000th post) and I thought it’d be fitting to make a topic for people to put their favorite parts of this site, and how they joined. So how did you find, join, and what do you like/dislike, about the 17th Shard? For me, I was reaserching more about Dalinar for a book report, and the Coppermind had a link here. I just thought it’d be fun to see what this was all about, and honestly, it’s something I wouldn’t change for the world. So many awesome people from so many different places, united by a love of Sanderson’s books. You guys are all so great. I don’t think I’d be as happy or confident as I am now, or as good of a writer. I discovered the wonderful world of roleplaying, silly forum games, and discussion on other similar interests, and through that, made a ton of friends. So yeah, what’s your story?

RWBY & Roleplaying. Started on Google Hangouts, but then moved to the Shard. It's inactive, as is the Lunar Chronicles one, which I never posted on. Maybe in the future.

When you go to a bookstore and they don’t have a SINGLE sanderson book, so you get sad, but then realize that means other people bought them, so you’re happy. When your Shardiversary and 1000th post will be on the same day and you’re panicking on what to do. -
I’m nearing 1000 posts. I have 2 more to use for “Important” stuff. And I have no idea what to do... January 9th is the day I want to do it but.... ahhh I’ll think of something. Maybe drawing RP characters and making an Album? That idea I had a while ago, and just let it run itself?

If you look at the cast, All the ones who died are on the casting list. We know they're coming back, but some characters (like Loki, Gamora, Ancient One, people who died outside of The Snap) are on there too. THIS MUST MEAN SOMETHING BIG!!!! I WANT TO KNOW NOW!!! Also, funny thing is, both main wizard (Dr. Strange and Wong) are irl named Benidict.

That was honestly a great movie. My dad took me to a pre-showing two saturdays ago and I went both last week and the week before (2 total viewings) and I LOVED IT!!! I really want them to continue with this world, especially at the end where But yeah, gotta say my favorite movie this year with Incredibles 2 and Infinity War Close behind. The blend of lots of differend art styles. And Miles has to be my favorite spiderman-as-a-regular-person. More than Peter Parker or Penni (anime spiderman girl, who was cool too. loved the spider-bot.) or any other spidermen. Also, 3rd-5th last Stan Lee Cameo. RIP. (Mrs. Marvel, and Endgame for sure have him, rumors of Far From Home and another marvel movie having at least his cameo filmed)

Late to the party, (I just got caught up on other podcasts and shardcast is next couple days/weeks) but I pronounce Marasai as MAR-ahs-ee. No idea why the e is there but now I feel stupid. MAR-ah-sahy (how it was pronounced by most of you) seems a lot more obvious. I also named one of my Eevees Evi, prouncing it. Eh-vee, not like the pokemon name itself. I always read it like that. Sadeas I read as SAY-dees, until I heard it on the audiobook when my mom listened to it. Shai was always Shy for me as well. I find it interesting that we get so many different ways to say their names from the exact same spelling.

I have many ookla names I want to use but I've confused people too much. next year... will probably be Okla dah Mysspeld again. The slobro thing is because everyone is trying to imitate Voidus/Ookla the Lurker. Hence both NotVoidus and Real Voidus.

Well, another status update, but this one actually matters (I'm deleting the last one.)
So my 1000th post idea was something I'd have to constantly be on and working with, and now I won't be able to do that. So here it is, if anyone wants to adopt it. (gotta think of a new 1000th post idea now...)
I don't have a proper name, but the idea is basically battle royale, with roleplay characters. You'd take existing characters or make one up with basically any magic system or weapons(doesn't have to be Sandersonian. Pokemon, Harry Potter wizards, Jedi etc would all be viable) (there would be a power cap, i.e. fullborn would be disqualified and/or have to only use allomancy OR feruchemy). They would start out with nothing but they clothes on their backs, and in rare cases, items that they need, but would be able to find things around. allomancers/feruchemists could find metals, knights radiant could find stormlight, etc. In fighting interactions, someone who was not in the battle (or not in the game part) would determine damage, similar to alleyverse duels. I would normally be this person, but...
So if you like the idea or want to see it implemented somewhere, go ahead! I just won't be able to lead it anymore.
