    This is a really good point. All the channelers I've come across are very strong. A weaker channeler might not even be able to beat a normal person with some sort of training.

    I think that characters should start off less powerful. If you want a more powerful character, RP them gaining the powers.

    The alleystorm hit. The spheres in the lanterns burst alight with energy, which the dark blob pulled on greedily. It drank and drank until the gemstones shattered from the strain. It loped off through the city, doing the samewith all the other spheres it could find.

    The stranger- who's name was Rotcennoc- pushed aside a clump of hanging vines that guarded a cave. He smiled. Excellent.

    Nogard turned to face the group. Under his feet, he felt the island begin to move. "This," he gestured around, "is an Alleycane. The eyewall hasn't reached us yet, but when it does, you don't wan't to be out in the open. Our best bet is probably the jungle: these islands get a lot of these, so they're well prepared."

    That's true. Warbreaker is online for free, if you want to read that. Secret History is in Arcanum unbounded, but you might want to wait to read that until you finish a few other cosmere books.

    Nogard slowed down as much as he could. "There's an alleycane coming. We should probably get farther inland." Suddenly, he felt a slight pop. His eyes widened as clouds rolled in at immense speed. "Come on!" He waved towards the people hiding under the rock and took off towards the jungle just as the first rain began to fall.
