Nekorb froze as two strangers burst out of thin air. What was going on. Meanwhile... A dark blob scurried through a dark alley, lost, dazed and confused. It huddled on something, though it couldn't tell what it was.

"I hope to avoid time alteration as well. That's what the NOW clock is for. And I meant syncing up the time with the other location."
-
"Things have changed. Because people are traveling between areas, their Spiritual aspects are lining up. There shouldn't be much trouble with time, although a few slips might happen."
-
"The islands' mutation didn't happen overnight, and they live for huge periods of time. For them to have any kind of appreciable culture, they'll have to have been around for a while."
-
"It doesn't have to make sense. It's just there to explain how some of the places have the Alleystorm arriving hundreds of years in the past."
-
"It's not not being on the map, it's being too far away from the Worldspike. But it is sort of arbitrary."
-
"Anywhere not on the current map, mostly."

I have email notifications, so I don't have to reread the thread to figure out what's going on, for the most part.

I snorted. "Nothing so complicated. NOW is whatever the time is in-thread. It's specially built for this sort of RP. "While we're talking about time and stuff, I'd like to point out that beyond the Worldspike, time has passed differently since the seven day war. The Alleystorm arrives hundreds of years before, in some cases."

I looked at Badadah. "Aren't we supposed to be using first person past tense? Also, what should I call you? I'm a bit confused by the difference between Ark, Hellbent, and Badadah at this point."
-
The man shrugged. "I'm fine getting hired."
-
"The NOW clock is probably the most understandable. Do you want me to explain?"
-
I looked over. "A lot of problems with time can be solved if you think of it in a multidimensional fashion." I waved my hand. "But we already have enough problems with time, what with edits and retcons. If you want time travel, I've made a NOW clock that makes things a bit more stable."

"The problem with that sort of challenge is that is isn't a challenge. With the ability to create ideas, we can do whatever can be imagined." I sat down again. "And the 17th shard website could not be threatened by our actions directly because we are just ideas. Only ideas can pass through the barrier that separates the worlds." Suddenly, a bright light flashed. Rekaerb stumbled into the room, his eyes wide. I smiled to myself. He found the hole, then.
-
Rekaerb stood dumbfounded. What in the world... Suddenly, he noticed that the doorway hadn't closed entirely. He walked over and looked through. Beyond the doorway was a circular room with black walls. Red stylized flames lined the sides of the chamber, and far below- or so it appeared- flames raged. In the middle was a raised platform. Rekaerb took a hesitant step through the doorway. Without warning, it snapped shut behind him. He jumped. Casting his eyes around the room, he realized that there were no doors or windows. He shivered, even though the room was quite warm. Uncertain of what to do, he wandered over to the center platform and climbed up on it. He stood on it, waiting.

"I don't see why becoming an Avatar is not reward enough for Hellbent." I stood up, letting the chair behind me vanish. "I will say that I will protect my characters- and their plot arcs- with all the power that I can rightfully use."
-
Yeah, that's what I meant. Sorry if that wasn't clear. Sorry, I meant the top. Got stuff mixed up in my mind. The Mountain is a specifically Alleyverse thing.
-
I heard no objections to my proposal. I sighed in relief. I turned my attention back to the topic we were originally discussing. "So, what exactly does all that stuff he picked up do?"
-
I saw shakes of the head. I asked my second question. "Does anyone disagree that the Avatars are tied to the accounts on 17th shard?"
-
"Look, does anyone disagree with the fact that we, as Authors, can add and remove ideas from the alleyverse?"
-
Okay, here goes. I have two key ideas that I'm trying to get across here with what I'm describing. First, the Alleyverse is made of ideas. The reason that the Avatars are all-powerful is that they can add or remove ideas. The reason that they can do that is that they are representative of the Author. And yes, if everyone ignores the actions of the Avatar then they have not happened. That is true. However, the Alleyverse exists in each of our minds, (as well as anyone else who might be reading it), so there can never be one single idea of what the alleyverse is. This is hard to represent in-universe as we don't know about outside perception, so we are going to have to find a way around it. This RP has an "canon-until-proven-rejected" policy, from what I can tell, and that's sort of what I propose. In addition, just because the action is undone doesn't mean that the Avatar never made it. That leads into my next main point. The Mountain is, in my opinion, the manifestation of the 17th shard in the alleyverse. That was always what I intended it for, and I think it makes sense, especially with the explanation of how Avatars/Authors work. The reason that the Avatar is different is that the account is a separate thing from the individual, and the reason they are the same is that the individual is using the account to express themselves. You made a comment about how this didn't work because the Mountain was only as real as the Alleyverse; I think that it does work, if you look at it in a certain way. The way I've set it out, any Avatar could say that all of this just stops existing. By the canon-until-rejected policy, it would happen. The alleyverse would go back to being controlled just by the Authors. However, if we told that person that we weren't quite ready to throw it all out the window, it would undo that. The Mountain would never have left, in its own perspective. The important thing is that the Avatars are is a personification of the 17th shard account. That includes posts, threads, and any titles you might have. Have to leave now, more later. All this might be confusing to people. Suffice it to say that I have two main premises I'm basing this off of. 1.The Avatars have to power to add and remove ideas from the alleyverse. 2.The Avatars are personifications of 17th shard accounts.

I looked up from my chair. "Someone's posted in the Chat thread, so I'll move my discussion there. We can use this thread to discuss about Karnatheon's point."
-
I ran my hands through my hair. "I do think we should explain in detail what Avatars are. If we don't figure out now, we'll have to figure it out later, and by then it will be even harder. "The important thing about Avatars is that they are fundamentally tied to the accounts on 17th shard. That means everywhere on 17th shard. Voidus Prime is an Alleyverse character. You, Voidus, as a Moderator on the 17th shard, have more power as an Avatar than the rest of us do. If any Administrators came here, they would have even more. "The other important thing about Avatars is that they represent us, as Authors. That means they have the power to do anything that we can imagine. An Avatar could not get stuck. "One final note: the whole alleyverse is created by all of us, like you said. It is an inter-meshing of Ideas, like I said. Contradictory Ideas can be part of the Alleyverse at the same time. If they don't affect anything, that's okay. It's less important, for instance, whether the waffle iron incident in ToH happened or not, because history progresses the same either way. If a contradiction is impossible to ignore, however, we have to uncanonize one of the ideas to avoid confusion." I collapsed in a chair, exhausted. "I- as an Author- am going to sleep now. See you all later."
