Could Honor have temporarily been the strongest Shard?
Scion of the Mists replied to Ripheus23's topic in Cosmere Discussion
We don't know enough about the Shards to say that or the Spiritual Realm. In fact, all the evidence points to there being rules that all Shards have to follow. These rules and agreements are mentioned multiple times and not once does it ever say that Honor is at the root. Why do you think Roshar is Adonalsium's pet planet? Most of the planets were created by Adonalsium - Scadrial is the exception, not the rule. -
Are the Scadrialians partially in the Cognitive?
Scion of the Mists replied to Invocation's question in Cosmere Q&A
Lift's ability to metabolize Stormlight is not necessarily because she's partially in the Cognitive Realm. Her Realm-blending may be a side effect of her boon from the Nightwatcher. -
Can Cultivation cultivate an heir?
Scion of the Mists replied to animalia's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Spoilers tags in Cosmere Discussion are "extremely discouraged," according to the helpful Welcome Guide to the Shard. (Obvious exception of after the release of a new book. However, the Oathbringer spoiler period ended on August 14th, so it's treated as just another book) -
Bringing someone back from The Beyond and bringing someone from the Cognitive Realm to the Physical Realm are completely different. Brandon has talked about how The Beyond is his perma-death and that he's not going to answer one way or another whether there's actually an afterlife or not. Stapling a Cognitive Shadow back to a body is something that multiple Shards have done (Endowment, Honor, Odium), and I'm certain that Harmony could do as well. Healing in the Cosmere has a strong Spiritual aspect to in, in that the magic will return you to the state you view as your natural state. This is why Kaladin's slave brands don't go away - because it's a part of his Identity.

Could Honor have temporarily been the strongest Shard?
Scion of the Mists replied to Ripheus23's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Odium is bound by Honor and Cultivation's power. Just because the Vessel of Honor (Tanavast) is dead doesn't mean that that power goes away. Yes, Honor has an incredible amount of power. He's a Shard - by definition, the most powerful thing in existence. -
The thieves knew it was an Honorblade, but nobody else did. We know that it's possible to "hold an Honorblade and not realize what its powers are, and therefore be unable to access them." By swapping a regular shardblade for Taln's blade, they gained an Honorblade without anyone else knowing that anything was amiss.

game Cosmere Codenames
Scion of the Mists replied to Herowannabe's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
IIRC, the images in Codenames Pictures typically have two or three different things in them, so it would probably be good to get images that aren't just portraits of a single character (a picture of just Dalinar Kholin isn't that much different than the words "Dalinar Kholin). -
Could Honor have temporarily been the strongest Shard?
Scion of the Mists replied to Ripheus23's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I don't think that someone making an oath will magically increase Honor's power. I think when people refer to a Shard's "power," they're generally referring to total Investiture or available Investiture. Even if he was, in fact, the "strongest" Shard, how would the Rosharans have known that fact? Even if they were Realmatically aware enough to know what the Shards were, and how many there were, how could they possibly know the relative power differentials? -
game Cosmere Codenames
Scion of the Mists replied to Herowannabe's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Great job everyone! I'm in for next round. -
My point was that just because they have access to only a portion of their infinite power, doesn't mean that that portion can't also be infinite. Have we ever seen a Shard be limited by their available Investiture? I think that creating entire solar systems from scratch would match up with anyone's idea of infinite power.

FWIW, here's how Brandon describes the difference between major and minor shardworlds: It's more about the strength of the magic, and how people interact with it. Major shardworlds have big, flashy shows of magic (flying, fireballs, magic swords), while in minor shardworlds the magic is more of an environment.

Crackpot (probably) theory about Autonomy
Scion of the Mists replied to Fanghur Rahl's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yes, somebody actually asked that exact question: And I don't think I've seen anything that the Singers are related to Fain life (besides being around pre-shattering). -
Anytime any one of the Heralds broke under torture, it would trigger a Desolation. With 10 different Heralds, you're always going to get one to break fairly quickly. Taln was the only one who never broke, until the present day (after ~5000 years of torture).

Crackpot (probably) theory about Autonomy
Scion of the Mists replied to Fanghur Rahl's topic in Cosmere Discussion
There are/were three races on Yolen: humans, dragons, and Sho Del. None of those are hiveminds. -
It's interesting that the WoB is literally: "He thinks you could." I'm assuming that that means it's from Nightblood's point of view and that Brandon isn't referring to himself in the third person. Nightblood is a particularly unreliable narrator.

Ferruchemy and hemalurgy interactions
Scion of the Mists replied to Bautax's question in Cosmere Q&A
I don't think that it's been directly answered, but the main theory I've seen is that it would improve your store/tap rate (similar to duralumin). So it would still be end-neutral (i.e. you'd still get out what you'd put in), but you'd be able to do it faster. -
Can a scadrian be both a mistborn and a ferring?
Scion of the Mists replied to MasterK-Bob's question in Cosmere Q&A
The genes interfere with each other: -
Frost is definitely a dragon, and is the oldest known being in existence, but is not a Shardholder.

Why is MBE4 the end of the Cosmere story?
Scion of the Mists replied to Ripheus23's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think it's similar to the Captain America movies in the MCU. Winter Soldier and Civil War are much more widely focused than just Captain America himself. They're almost like Averngers-lite movies. I imagine that Era 4 will be similar in that, though it'll have elements of all the magic systems, it'll focus a little bit more on the Scadrians than the others (they'll have the tech to move in physical space). Plus, he kind of had to do it this way. All the other series are self-contained and focused on a single time period/story. Mistborn is already multiple stories taking place at different points in time, using varying tech levels. -
Odium’s Sho Del Hit-List
Scion of the Mists replied to i’m in the details's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I mean, if any of the Shards is going to stand up to Odium's plan, or launch their own, it'd be the Ambitious one.
