  1. I think there would be good reasons why Honour would be terrible at future sight. He would struggle to understand people who break there word or act in hate. Basically humans aren't very honourable so how does Honour plan for what he can't understand?
  2. I can't speak for the mechanics of firemoss addiction, but I think there are very good reasons why Teft spirals out of control in OB. He is overwhelmed with guilt over the death of his family. Not only did his actions lead to their death, but their belief in the Radiants is now somewhat justified. They were right, Teft was wrong and they paid for their lives for his mistakes. Teft is now in a position of power and prestige, and he feels he doesn't deserve it and that he will let everybody down. He gets back into firemoss, which makes him feel even more guilty and scared he will betray Bridge 4, so he uses more and it spirals out of control. And he is a Radiant, which was exactly what his family wanted. He must have felt so undeserving, as comes through in his dealings with his spren. I don't know about the way firemoss works, but there are good reasons why as life gets better for Teft, his grief and guilt grow to a point where he can't cope.
  3. @IronBars You really don't like him do you! Just getting that vibe... Though I agree in part. Odium would see Renarin as unimpressive and unimportant- but he is wrong on both accounts.
  4. I can't wait to hear the details of Hoid and Jasnah's wild love affair as they travelled together through Shinovar!
  5. Sedeas is an amoral beast. He loved Gavilar, but like Dalinar Gavilar must have had doubts at time about what were his intentions. I am very curious about the Sons of Honour. Did they exist before the visions? How did this religious group feel about visions? I don't think we know enough to assume that Restares and Gavilar always saw eye to eye.
  6. Great theory. The only part I'm not convinced of is that they are saving them to be prepared for another desolation. Didn't Jezriel tell them that they had won, that it was over? What reason would someone there have to disagree? It also seems like their reaction to Szeth makes more sense if they believed the desolations had finished. His words are blasphemous not just "bad news" they want to ignore.
  7. I had started to wonder if this was the case but you have convinced me Much nicer than believing that the KR knowing murdered their spren. I wonder if Maya is revived if she might remember the details of her death...
  8. My theory is that Jasnah's 4th oath will relate to balancing logic and compassion (and that the act of sparing Renarin is why she seemed to be almost manifesting a plate in the battle).
  9. I agree, I think Venli will recruit and join the radiants in the end. I also think Rlain will be part of it and will become a squire or even radiant. Adolin will be a bit of a mess, dealing with his wife, his disillusionment with his Father, and the repercussions of Sedeas death. We will finally get a Stonewarden. Kaladin will say his 4th oath and Shallan will accept her 4th truth. Shallan will finally realise she was a naive fool for infiltrating the ghostbloods. And we will see more of them. I think that Moash will kill Taln. And I think Lopen will make a spectacularly unsucessful pass at Ash.
  10. The Nightblood discussion was interesting, particularly whether cultivation had ever possessed NB. I was trying to work out, if Vasher went to the nightwatcher, what would be the boon that he would be willing to give up NB for? I wonder if he bought the ability to live without weekly breath (since he hadn't been able to convert stormlight to breath and might run his supply down without it). If he knew he was going to die and couldn't return home to get more breath. I can imagine him being desperate enough to part with nightblood. Then Cultivation eventually gives it to Nale, who gives it to Szeth.
  11. More from those three would be awesome! I suspect Rlain is a given since it is a listener book. I wish we could have more Renarin but I suspect we will have the long wait until the back half I can't condon kiddnapping, even for such a good cause
  12. I read OB with no idea about the backstory of Warbreaker. It felt like there were in jokes I didn't get. But it didn't make a difference to the actual story, though I am subsequently reading other BS books and enjoying that. I have found this a great place to learn things. I put up theories all the time that people show aren't right based on all those pesky WoBs (took me a week to figure out that meant Words of Brandon- I thought it was another book!) But it doesn't matter in the slightest and everyone is nice about it Welcome!
  13. Dalinar was so interesting in OB, I really adored him in the first two so seeing his terrible past (particularly his treatment of Evi and Renarin) was painful for me. But his redeptive arch was superb. But...Kaladin is the man. Broken enough to be interesting and relatable. But also brave and heroic and all round awesome!
  14. I am very suspicious. The Radiants feared her more than the others. That has to mean something. I think she is loyal to her children, and will act in their best interest. So I think they can work with her but with eyes open. I can't wait for more Glys!
  15. I am super keen to find out who Toh and Evi are. This must be about more than the plate. Everyone keeps talking about the plate being Evi's not Toh's. Is that based on anything other than everyone talking about them as " Adolin mother's plate"? I always took it as a dowry thing, it's not that it wasn't Toh's, it just became part of Evi's dowry payment so that Toh got protection. But I agree he did not seem particularly close to her. Though I love the idea of Toh being the guardian, he seemed an ordinary guardian given he sold her to a bloodthirsty warlord. A neglectful, selfish brother actually seems more plausible. I do wonder if Rira might not come up until Renarin's book, given that will be where we will see a bit more of Evi and it would give a nice symetry to things.
  16. The ghostblood thing is interesting. Shallan was incredibly naive in her dealings with them- believing that she could infiltrate such a well connected organisation. She has now in principal decided to tell Adolin, and if he convinces her to tell either Dalinar or Jasnah I imagine they will point out what a dangerous game she is playing. But the ghostbloods are also the kind of organisation that will have the power to blackmail her into doing what they want- so getting out might not be easy. Ash is also potentially in their debt as well. So my suspion is the ghost bloods will go quiet for a year and at some point in book 4 it will all come to a head.
  17. I suspect that there will be some suring up of regions, and some spying by the lightwevers, working with the windrunners to travel round. Lots of training and planning but not much fighting. I think we will get more radiants over the break. My theory is that one of the POV characters (probably Kalladin) will have been away from Urithiru for most of the gap and will come back and be "introduced" (along with us) to the new radiants. And I think over the time gap we won't have much more than an occasionally lucid Taln.
  18. Is it possible that one of the unmade caused the sibling to slumber? We know that the knights were researching them, is it possible they inadvertantly let them effect the towers spren? Love to hear other suggestions
  19. I love the idea, and it definitely might be the words because of the symetry of it. But I think the big truth she has to accept is that she is the victim, that her parents death was not her fault. She killed her mother in self-defense, she killed her father to protect her family. She won't face being herself because she sees herself as a murderer (and describes herself as a dirty rotten murderer in OB). She idealises her parents pre-death. She thinks murdering her mother turned her Father into a monster, so she is to blame for everything. She imagines a life she deserves, a happy Father, whole brothers and a mother teaching her to draw. But that is an illusion, knowing what we know of what her parents did. Her mother was about to kill her. Her Father let his pain turn him into a monster. They are responsible for their own actions, she is the victim. And until she can accept that, she won't be able to say "I am Shallan Devar".
  20. It makes me extra sad for Eshoni. After all she did to protect the world to die as her nightmare came true! She was such a vibrant character, and so innocent before all those years of war. Androtagia is a good guess, could the other one be Aesudan?
  21. He hasn't been able to make illusions, but he has made light (just like Ym tried to, who we know had an uncorrupted spren), and the vision he gave to Adolin of himself 'perfected' seems pretty similar to Shallan gift of drawing people as the best version of themselves. Despite 'the pages' I don't think it is a cut and dried thing that Renarin doesn't have the knight surgeof illumination. The voidy surge might be an added extra.
  22. I am super curious about the big flash of light Renarin used to stop the Thunderclast. I know there is some controversy as to whether he actually has the surge (I think he does), but we do know that Ym's spren wanted him to "make light" to try and escape Nale- so I suspect it could have a powerful impact on any enemy. Hope to learn more in the next book. If the Catapult Gems are used for sounds, you could shoot in "commands" using Listener accents/rhythms. Imagine if in a middle of battle suddenly you hear voices from the sky yelling "retreat" in your native tongue? That would cause chaos.
  23. In OB, I think a shot of Shallan reaching out to touch the Midnight Mother would be an amazing image.
  24. YES! Shallan has had a significant impact through her lightweaving. But when she is more herself, drawing what people are capable of, that is when we see ( in my opinion) the best of her. Love to see her have a win after the struggles in OB.
  25. The Order: Skydancers Attributes: Loving/Protecting Surges: Gravitation and Abrasion The Skydancers are an order full of joy and energy. But don't let their cheerfulness fool you, they are serious about saving you, be you human, listener or chull. There mercy can be a downfall, as they can prove to be too trusting and easily attached to any they meet. They are master's of movement: graceful and quick. Oaths: LBD, SBW, JBD 2nd I will protect the forgotten 3rd I will hate no one, for all have their purpose 4th I Will protect life, whatever the cost. I AM VEGAN
