  1. So in the first prologue that was Jezrien? Also can you explain this Edgedancer stuff more in depth? Is this something else I didn't read? lol
  2. Yeah, for me it's why I feel like I may have read my favorite book ever written. Of course, the book doesn't exist without the two before it so I sometimes like to say favorite series at the moment, it's weird picking this as top book of the three when for Dalinar and many other aspects what made it so great was pay off for things culminating. Kinda like how anyone who claims Empire Strikes Back is the best Star Wars must have also loved A New Hope, if that makes sense.
  3. "My life to yours, my Breath become yours."
  4. For me in book 3 I thought they found the perfect way to emotionally cripple Kaladin, it was believable and heart-breaking and he still gets what was probably the best fight of the book (felt like some crazy chull anime fight, honestly). But then I'm really into Kaladin's emotional struggles, he struggles with questions I feel not enough fantasy heroes do, but that could just be the type of fantasy I read and I need to read more, hah.
  5. Now I have to read that prologue again, without doing so did he seem like he'd be one of the sane ones? What do you guys think of Jezrien's end? Also should I have known who Jezrien was prior to that last scene, was he in the books being crazy and I just overlooked it?
  6. Do you mean when I speak of the characters importance to the story? Or do you mean my reason not to speak the words you asked?
  7. I found out that's a Warbreaker quote and I didn't read Warbreaker so I'd feel silly repeating it. Right now my favorite character is Dalinar but before book 3 it was Kaladin, with a book 4 it might be Kaladin again, I consider other characters to have potential but at this point it's hard to pretend there's another protagonist as important to the story as those two are.
  8. I guarantee I'm a fool for thinking this hasn't been discussed by you guys but we clearly know who some of the ten heralds are still existing but where is Kalak, the one who got a POV at the start of the franchise? Do you think that he's taken so long to be revealed has to do with the fact that he was the POV character for that prelude? Bonus question for you guys, is anyone in the books so far a willshaper?
  9. I realized this isn't really a spoiler thread so I spoilered my long reply, the short answer is I actually think Dalinar right now is the best character because he's the most well rounded.
  10. Oh I see, so I kept hoping Azure would turn out to be something I'd already heard of but I suppose not. So is her quest to get the assassin in white now or was she after the sword's previous owner? Is her quest more about the sword than the owner?
  11. Who's Azure again? And was I supposed to know the sword is called Nightblood (oh man, badass, they stole my goth name).
  12. How crucial reading are the other books that sort of tie in that you mention?
  13. Well my other question is, how much time looking through old threads is required before deciding if your theory is worth posting for discussion? I suspect the stuff I want to theorize on is less in depth than the rest of you, like a thread near the top right now talks about Axies in Shadesmar and I don't even remember who Axies is, I looked it up and now SORTA remember. So it makes me wonder how worthwhile my own topics on theories would be and I've been on other forums where even if what you posted was posted before 50 pages deep you still should have looked through 50 pages for it, hah.
  14. Ah, thanks for that, see I wasn't sure if entering discussions and asking people what all the things they were referring to were would be warmly welcomed or not. The way people talk in here I sometimes feel like I didn't fully follow the books, lol.
  15. Long time fan of the fantasy genre and I've found Stormlight Archive to be the best. I refused to join any online communities until I was caught up enough to avoid spoilers. Since I finished book 2 only in 2017 that left me waiting until I got through book 3. Book 3 is what solidified the series as my favorite. Sure it can go wrong, Wheel of Time certainly went wrong in many ways, A Song of Ice and Fire went dull for the last two books and I'm not done Malazan which could go BETTER than SA but at the moment I'm sure of how I feel. It felt like the right time to join one of these communities, unfortunately taking so long I feel so much like the outsider, people here talk about so many things I only sort of understood when reading the books, like I'm out of my league and depth. I do plan re-reads but even then I'm not sure my brain is prepared to make the connections others have. Really fascinating stuff.
