  1. One simply could not fish for a living without having the patience to sit still in a boat for hours at a time waiting for the fish to bite. Eleryn had learned to be patient early in life. As a young boy of five, before he had been old enough to travel into deep water with his father, Eleryn had been instructed to spend significant portions of his day sitting by the bank of the river Morthond with a fishing pole in his hands. He hadn't been allowed to use bait yet, and the fish in that part of the river were always too small to be worth eating anyway. Every day for a year, he spent several hours sitting by the bank, waiting for a fish that would never come. On his sixth birthday, his father had taught him the second lesson of fishing; the art of determining when patience became sheer stubbornness. Sitting around waiting for something to happen could not be the only solution. The man who stays in the same spot for a day without having a single fish bite isn't a patient man, but rather a foolish one. That day, Eleryn had been allowed to come in the boat with his father. He hadn't caught any fish in an entire year of sitting by the bank, but that day, even without bait, he had managed to catch a fish. Present-day Eleryn shook his head to dismiss the memory. He had never mastered the art of determining when best to quit and try something new, not like his father had. "One more hour," he would tell himself. "You can't leave now, not while there are still fish to be caught here." It was a persistent issue. Eleryn would arrive at a prime fishing location, catch a few fish relatively quickly, then stay in the same spot long after he should have moved on. It seemed most of the company shared the affliction. For hours following the spider attack, the group, Eleyrn among them, had just, stood there. Now, finally, they were moving again, hopefully leaving the spiders behind. Six of their number hadn't spoken at all. Hopefully, they hadn't been affected by the river's enchantments. Should he call out to them? There were still hours to go until sundown, but everyone's voices would need to be heard to ensure a safe passage through the forest. Two of the six had already been spoken to, so Eleryn approached the other four individually. Two of the quartet were elves, and Eleryn approached these ones cautiously. He hoped they would forgive the intrusion. @Ornstein, @Bort, @Mafia, @GreenRover, welcome to the game.
  2. Supposedly, the black river running along besides them was subject to some sort of amnesiac enchantment. Ridiculous. The rivers at home might not have been the cleanest or most impressive, but at least they contained enough fish for him to make a living. Eleryn doubted any fish swam in these waters, and he wasn't willing to find out. Their elven guide hadn't specified how much liquid would be required for the enchantment to take effect, so caution dictated that Eleryn avoid any possible contact with the river. As it so often did, caution assumed the voice of his father. "Successful fishers treat their whole lives like a fishing trip," he'd often say. "You must be deliberate. Make no impulsive decisions, nor take any unnecessary risks. Plan your actions carefully, prepare well ahead of time, and execute every step of the plan methodically." This had always struck Eleryn as being good advice, especially when couple with his grandmother's stories of the many times she'd nearly died in her early years. When he'd left home, he'd tried to convince himself that it would be one quick excursion before returning to the safety of Anfalas. Gazing at the corpse of the gigantic spider, Eleryn admitted his delusion. This forest was no place for him. It was too late to back out now though; leaving the group would expose him to even more danger. He looked again at the spider. The body might well attract others of its kind. The company would have to move on soon in an attempt to avoid such an occurrence. Perhaps the spider ought to be pushed into the river. If only there was a way to do that without risking exposure to the enchanted stream. Eleryn began to look around for a convenient fallen branch with which to accomplish the task.
  3. I can be Eleyrn, a human fisherman who insists on calling his homeland Anfalas. His grandmother had always told stories of the years she had travelled with elves, and Eleryn doesn't want to miss his chance to meet some elves for himself. To confirm, the Gondor spies have no roles, and no kill abilities other than potentially possessing poison phials. Are players informed if they are poisoned? Do half doses of poison also take a full day to take effect? Will players poisoned with a half dose die of inactivity within a cycle of showing symptoms if they aren't asked any questions? Can these players be cured with a full antidote after they show symptoms?
  4. With a 2-2-1-1 vote, a Soother could decide this lynch. I'm guessing there still is a Soother, unless Gancho was feeling suicidal. Drake voted after Gancho last posted, and Drake voted for the main alternatives for a Gancho lynch. It's possible that Gancho showed up when the lynch was between Araris and Snipexe and decided to save Araris/kill Snipexe, risking his own life to do so, but as we know Gancho wasn't an elim trying to protect a teammate I believe this is unlikely. This is because both times, new information surfaced between when I cast a vote and when I retracted that changed my mind about the lynch. Itiah had a PM that convinced me, and I retracted my vote from you because Itiah vouched for you and because of your final post last cycle where you seemed resigned to death despite Araris having more votes than you. Neither of the players I voted for ended up being lynched, though you could have been if I hadn't retracted my vote from you. As it appears I am tied for the lynch, I will cast my first sticking vote for Elandera.
  5. Like most of the other players who voted on Itiah that cycle and subsequently retracted, I received a PM from Itiah. I went to sleep before seeing that he had tried to prove his innocence by declaring that no eliminator would know that villagers were called citizens. I didn't believe an actual eliminator would attempt to prove their innocence that way, as it had been revealed in the initial rules and by Xinoehp's death that citizens were the village faction. One of these cycles, the vote isn't going to completely shift while I'm asleep. That, or I'll get up early enough to make an informed vote based on the candidates up for the lynch. I don't trust myself to be able to cast a useful vote with an hour or less to review the possible lynchees.
  6. Just barely made it online. This was mostly a choice between you and Gancho. I believe Gancho is more likely to be a villager, while I had no information regarding your alignment. An Araris lynch appeared while I was gone, so I can unvote Snipexe. That leaves four votes on Araris and three on Gancho.
  7. The Larabecks had been allomantically weak for centuries. Skaa blood had corrupted their line, making mistings rare and mistborn unheard of. Her aunt, a renowned tineye, had been the last Larabeck allomancer, but no one had heard from her in years. She was probably dead by now, leaving her family with nothing. Leidene's father Tyrann had been unwilling to accept defeat. After she had failed to snap in response to physical trauma, he turned to more psychological methods. Two months after breaking her leg, her father took the family out for an excursion in a nearby forest. As night fell and the mists came out, he abandoned her in the forest with only an aged skaa man for company. Bandits aome for them that night. The leader held a dagger to the skaa's throat, demanding the pair hand over their valuables. Leidene declared they had no valuables, so the bandit slit the skaa's throat. Leidene stumbled into the mists, lying prone on the ground hoping to not be discovered. She stayed up the whole night, her terror warding off sleep, but miraculously, no one had found her until her father arrived in the morning, his personal dagger was still slick with blood. She drank the vial of metals he gave her, but again, she failed to burn any of them. They rode home in silence, Leidene's right leg screaming from remaining stationary on the hard ground all night, the metal flakes sitting uncomfortably in her stomach. In the interests of actually voting this cycle, I'll vote for Snipexe. I believe he's more likely to be evil than Gancho, but I'll see how the votes look closer to rollover.
  8. Itiah doesn't seem like a Spiked, judging by how he tried to prove his innocence in a PM. I'm not quite sure where the lynch on Elandera came from. Rae didn't like the interaction between Elandera and Drake, but then Drake also voted for Elandera. He gave himself the chance to move his vote if he had to, but after being gone for hours that occurrence is seeming less likely. Itiah and Lopen seem to have just been voting out of a desire to avoid an Itiah lynch. I'll try to review Elandera and the other lynch candidates to make a vote, but that might not happen in time.
  9. Leidene stared at Demmanu's corpse. No last name, so he was probably just a skaa. The second man, the suicidal noble, had been calmed down. He was safe. The third one also lacked a last name, but her guards had sworn they'd seen the man wearing a mistcloak, albeit one colored blue and green rather than the traditional gray. Could the man truly be a Mistborn? If so, then Demmanu's death had been for the best, yes, surely they could afford to lose a mere skaa. Those thoughts didn't stop her from looking at his mangled body. The mob hadn't been content with merely killing him, they'd beaten him into the ashen streets and proceeded to bludgeon him; dueling canes joining the fray amidst punches, kicks, and the occasional thrust of a spear. He'd cried out of course, his shouts audible even over the din of the bloodthirsty crowd. Leidene distinctly recalled the cracking sound when a cane had landed upon Demmanu's shoulder. It was the same sound her own leg had made when her father had broken her right leg with his dueling cane. She remembered her own screams, her ten year old voice far higher pitched but no less desperate than Demmanu's cries for salvation. She had been spared. After having the contents of a vial poured down her throat, she had been abandoned on the floor to whimper in pain. Demmanu had been shown no mercy, even after his screams had been replaced by deathly silence. One fewer skaa in the world was no tragedy of course, but the bloodlust exhibited by the mob would not be sated by a single death. Hopefully, the culprits could be caught before the violence consumed any of the nobility. Putting a vote on Itiah for now. In addition to what Araris and Oplen have said, I also don't like how his poke vote on Drake came after Drake already had one vote on him. I would have expected Itiah to have noticed Araris's earlier vote, seeing as how Araris retracted from Itiah in that same post. I think @I think I am here. was here recently, so perhaps he could provide his viewpoint.
  10. That was from MR29, when Elandera and I were both evil. Both Elandera and Wonko, seeing that they could die, accidentally said that they would 'sew chaos' instead of the correct 'sow chaos'. Having nothing better to do, I posted images related to sewing in the elim doc. The three way tie was due to the fact that Bort had voted for himself, but then his vote was removed, presumably by a Soother.
  11. Leidene began the arduous climb down the stairwell, cane in hand. Her two guards flanked her, ready to intervene in case she slipped. Standing on the battlements taking in the sights of Luthadel had been exhilarating, but the walls were too high for her to hear the discussion taking place at street level. After finally reaching the ground, a process that took over an hour to complete, she noticed that the mysterious person had arrived. Snipexe.
  12. Luthadel was even bigger than Urteau, a fact Leidene was reminded of yet again as she stood atop the city walls. Not that Leidene had spent much time in Urteau. As the scion of a minor house, she had been expected to spend her life preparing to marry a man from whatever noble house would take her. Unsurprisingly, no nobles had wanted anything to do with a woman who flinched away from touch and jumped at shadows, as much as she could jump with a disfigured leg. At least the permanent limp gave her an excuse to carry around a cane wherever she went. Though the meter long length of wood wouldn't provide nearly as much protection in a fight as the pair of guards who had helped her ascend the staircase would, there was something comforting about having any ability, however minuscule, to defend herself. Leidene hates sewing, a product of spending far too much of her life indoors. She much prefers exploring the outside, even though she can't walk without her cane. I see Snipexe browsing the thread, but not yet posting. I hear that you're a person, but what kind of person are you, @Snipexe?
  13. I'll be Leidene Larabeck, a noblewoman who never quite recovered from her family's attempt to Snap her.
  14. With half an hour left in the cycle, the vote tally is: Devotary(4): Sart, Eternum, Doc12, Straw Randuir(3): CadCom, Dalinar, Devotary Straw(1): Fifth Doc12(1): Jondesu Fifth(1): Rathmaskal
  15. Sigh. I'm the Spaniard, and I'd really rather not die before avenging my father. Night 1, I scanned Cadmium Compounder for voting Straw in what might have been an attempt to kill a possible Spaniard, and because it would have been ironic for the polydactylous character and the Spaniard's cousin to be the Spaniard and the Count respectively. Night 2, I scanned Doc12 as I didn't have any solid suspicions and I could salvage a decent rhyme from that scan. Obviously, neither CadCom nor Doc12 are the Six Fingered Count. I probably waited too long to do this, but I would have preferred to survive this lynch without roleclaiming. I still have my one kill, and I might use it today if it looks like I'm going to die. @Sart, @Eternum, @Doc12, @Rathmaskal, @Straw, would you mind moving your votes?
  16. Only six votes so far, as quite a few people have said they won't be active at this time. Nobody will be inactivity-killed/replaced this turn, though a few players will suffer that fate if they don't come back for the night turn. Polydactylous Tarotdactyl lived to fly. With his nine meter wingspan, he could easily fly fast enough to keep pace with Dread Pirate Roberts's ship. After several fruitless(the pirates needed to keep all the fruit to themselves to prevent scurvy) attempts to drive him off, the pirates accepted that the flamboyant, five-fingered flying fish-filleter was there to stay. Now though, there were several crew members saying that he was secretly working for some land dweller. Polydactylous Ptrdctl had been on land before. Usually, he preferred beaches next to the nice cool water. He couldn't see why anyone would want to live on the land with nothing to eat. The pirates, though they lacked wings, at least had the sense to live out in the water where all the food was. Most of the crew had better things to do than decide his fate. Today was after all, and there was a feast to celebrate the occasion. Even if Polydactylous Ptearedactill had been invited to the feast, he wouldn't have attended. No, it was far more enjoyable to do his own hunting, diving into the water to find the most delicious fish. Yes, this was the life for him. Robert's ship disturbed the fish as it passed, causing them to be easy targets for a swooping predator. To think that all the pterodactyls back home had found it inconceivable for any of their race to interact with humans. They didn't know what they were missing. So your primary evidence against me is my voting for Sart versus Elenion? That is reasonable, and a fair reason to vote. I'm not sure Randuir not being around to defend himself shouldn't be a big factor in your decision though, as that was one of the mistakes I made with my vote last cycle. I did not allude that Len was a villager. At the time, I believed that someone with only one vote could be lynched. This false hypothetical opened up the possibility of the elims moving votes off of Elenion and Sart to get as many players lynched as possible. That could have led to five dead villagers if two daggers were used and the iocaine only killed villagers. What made you change your mind as regards to solidifying a lynch? Earlier today, you said What are you hoping to gain by adding a fifth vote on me? Four votes on me within the span of twenty minutes. This is getting slightly ridiculous. Unless they all ninja'd each other, that many votes in quick succession seems useless. As it's entirely possible that at least one of those votes was designed to protect a teammate, I will vote on Randuir for now.
  17. So Eternum obviously was the first one to vote for Elenion yesterday, which is a big point in Eternum's. Also, he and Rathmaskal appear to be the ones responsible for making sure the day wasn't extended. At the time, Elenion was ahead in votes, and seeing as how there was no vote manipulation other than Sart's rum, I can be quite certain that Eternum's request for a shorter night was not an attempt to save a teammate through vote manipulation. Rather, it seems far more likely that this was the act of a villager comfortable with their vote. I would put Eternum as soft-cleared village. Randuir has spent most of his time trying to analyze every single player. He maintained a steady mild suspicion of Elenion throughout the whole game but never voted that way, instead voting for CadCom day 1 and for me cycle 2. On that note, it's somewhat odd that he's had lingering suspicion of me for voting Bort over a lynch contender day 1. I can't quite be sure whether Randuir though Bugsy or Araris was more suspicious, but I do get the sense that Randuir preferred to vote for an actual suspicion than for someone less suspicious but more likely to be lynched. Randuir's vote did of course have the advantage of being cast early enough in the cycle that the lynch wasn't assured, and rollover is at an inconvenient time for him. He was going to analyze the Araris lynchers, but then Elenion beat him to it. Randuir's broader analysis came to different conclusions to Elenion, namely that Elenion voted for HH while Randuir largely cleared him. I'm not really sure about Randuir. It doesn't seem like he was working with Elenion, so I'll put Randuir at somewhere neutral/lean village. Fifth started off Day 1 by voting for me, then changed his vote seven minutes before the end of the turn to ensure that no single act of vote manipulation could prevent Araris's death. Looking through Fifth's more recent games, one can see that that he would indeed rather avoid vote manipulation changing the results of the lynch, as he claimed when his vote was questioned. Fifth has never actually been evil so I have nothing to compare to, but at the very least solidifying a lynch is something he would do as a villager. In one of his long posts, he stated that 2/3 of the players had either a rum or a dagger, which we know isn't true as Kidpen died without any items. That suggests to me that either Fifth is a villager other than the Spaniard/Giant, or every non-unique eliminator has an item. He also said he doubted Roadwalker was Max, right after Roadwalker was nightkilled by the eliminators. Finally, Fifth stated he would voted for either Elenion or Eternum last cycle, before Elenion's alignment was revealed. Right now, I'm leaning village on Fifth. I'm saying(or was trying to say), that the Bugsy/Elenion argument makes it much more likely that Bugsy is village, given that Elenion was an eliminator. However, it is technically possible for them to have staged that fight while using a dagger to make sure neither of them was lynched. I'm not saying that's likely, as spending a powerful vote manipulation tool so early in a gambit to gain trust for one of Bugsy/Len should the other one die seems an inefficient use of a dagger. I still strongly lean village on Bugsy. I'm not sure where this opinion comes from? Until Fifth's vote at the end of day 1, someone with a dagger could have given Araris a 50% chance of survival by moving a vote off him onto any of Bugsy, Walin, or me. Would you then say that which one of us the dagger wielder tried to get lynched would be secondary? I do know that keeping Max alive doesn't necessarily help the village win. I also believe that taking the time to kill Max isn't worthwhile, or even counterproductive. I probably missed some of what you asked me, so feel free to ask me again.
  18. I had assumed that we would have 24 more hours to cast votes, but then with an hour remaining in the day, I learned that we weren't getting an extension after all. I then managed to forget that there was a two vote minimum for lynches, instead believing that some simple vote manipulation would be enough to ensure that up to five villagers could be lynched. Sart and Elenion were the only players with multiple votes, so I decided to vote for one of them. I chose Sart; for the Roadwalker vote and corresponding possible attempt to kill Max/alienate him from the village, because Elenion had earlier said that he wouldn't be around for rollover, and because I ran out of time to contemplate alternatives. Evidently, I made the wrong choice. I think CadCom particularly is soft-cleared, especially as he gave himself an opening to change his vote but didn't. Elenion's death also makes it far more likely that Bugsy is a villager, though the fact that a vote was moved from Bugsy to Roadwalker should probably not be discounted.
  19. Sadly, our spool of chaos thread was only enough to last us five cycles, but it was fun while it lasted. I tried to annotate the elim doc so observers could figure out what was going on those last couple of cycles, but there were still a few gaps that I can fill in. @Young Bard, Fifth Scholar knew that you had protected the tinker with your death because I told Fifth Scholar that we had tried to kill Drought/Xino that cycle. I nullified your vote with Scrael the first cycle because of what you said about being willing to burn all your passes early. Were you in contact with Fifth and/or Bort when you asked whether I was the Monk? I had already false-claimed to both of them by then. A knife and a Monk would have been enough to kill me, as your second life ensured that you couldn't be killed before you had the chance to stab me. Confessing just made me extra-dead. If Eternum had decided to give me an extra life with a rhinna flower before giving you a weapon to kill me, I likely would have stayed silent that last cycle. @Drake Marshall and @randuir, why were extra lives considered to be passive immunities? Could Kirel's extra life have been stripped by a Monk? Would Alvron have been able to bypass my rhinna flower if I'd had one? It might have been for the best, as I would have died even faster if Bort had seen me target someone who's vote had gotten nullified, but Wonko's unexpected death caused me a lot of confusion.
  20. Two vote minimum does mean two votes on an individual, so lots of people won't die after all. That's good to know. Without my vote, a dagger would only be able to render two players mostly dead, while rum could only be used to protect someone. With my vote, it would be difficult for anyone other than Sart or Elenion to be lynched . I still think my vote might be worthwhile, but I'm far less sure. Sart has historically (LG43) been against resurrection roles, so I can see him voting for Roadwalker as a villager. I've run out of time to decide, so I suppose the iocaine will make the decision.
  21. I saw this as meaning if more than two people were tied, they would be divided into sets, with one person in each set dying to iocane. So if ten people were tied with one vote, there would be five sets of poisoned cups and five deaths. @Steeldancer, could you clarify this?
  22. Once created, using PMs at any time is your right. There's no need to wait until night. So the day is apparently ending at the normal time after all, and our votes are scattered all over the place. With a mere two items used(though my vote will ensure that more are needed), we could lose up to five players to today's lynch. As interesting as it might be to have lots of people die, it seems like it would be easy for the elims to minimize their risk by using daggers and rum to move or remove votes. I'd rather avoid a massacre of villagers, so I'll vote Sart for now, based on the possibility that Sart's last hour attempt to get Roadwalker lynched in combination with the vote switched by Roadwalker with a dagger was an elim plot to kill Max, with the night kill being placed when Roadwalker survived the day. @Sart was around for rollover day 1, so hopefully he can be around again today. If we get more votes in the next 40 minutes, I might change my vote, but right now my priority is making sure elim vote manipulators can't wreak havoc. Vote Tally Eternum(1): Elbereth HH(1): Elenion Sart(3): Snipexe, Straw, Devotary Fifth(1) Rathmaskal Elenion(2) Eternum, Cadmium Straw(1): Sart Devotary(1): Randuir Elephant(1): Fifth
  23. It seemed like the main reason Araris was getting lynched was for his vote. I've seen Araris be willing to vote to kill early on before solid evidence is available, so I didn't see his vote for Busy as indicating that Araris was an evil cutthroat. At the time, the main alternatives to the lynch were Walin, Bugsy, and Devotary. I'm not going to vote for myself, and the only 'evidence' against Walin was that he is at the top of the player directory. That left Bugsy, but I didn't see good enough reasons to make him die. So, I voted Bort for arbitrarily putting Walin into a four way tie. So Doc12 starts off by saying that he missed the last three votes on Araris, then later on in that same post wonders as I did why someone would try to kill Roadwalker/save Walin and/or Bugsy when Araris was definitely getting lynched. There were only a few hours left in the cycle when Araris's death was finally clinched. It is definitely possible that the dagger wielder acted while Bugsy had as many votes as any on the vote tally. There were quite a few people who weren't around to see the day's finale. If Bugsy and Araris turn out to both be village, I would not be surprised if the elims didn't feel a need to ensure that Araris hung. HH and Fifth Scholar especially hadn't said much that day cycle, so if either of them are evil with a village Bugsy, they would not have been obliged to decide which way the mislynch swung. An evil Bugsy would put more suspicion on them, I think. It would also make it more likely that the dagger wielder works for Prince Humperdinck.
  24. So it appears that someone wasted their rum by removing Bort's vote from Walin, while another player wasted their dagger making Araris vote for Roadwalker. @Steeldancer, can you confirm that Bort's vote should be missing from the tally? He voted on page 8 of the thread. I'm guessing Araris's changed vote was the result of a dagger, as Steeldancer's daytime vote tally included Araris's vote for Bugsy. If this is not the case, GM clarification would be appreciated. I'm not sure why someone gave up their role to move that vote; if someone wanted to save Araris or kill Roadwalker they would have been better off moving the vote of someone who had voted for Araris.
  25. Yet another vote tally: Araris(4): Eternum, Doc12, Mr Doctor, HH Walin(2): Mark, Bort Bugsy(2): Araris, Elenion Devotary(2): Val, Fifth Roadwalker(1): Sart CadCom(1): Randuir Elenion(1): Bugsy Bort(1): Devotary I note that both Mark and Bort have voted for Walin because he is at the top of the player list. I'm not so sure about Araris. From what I've seen from previous games, he seems willing to vote aggressively during the early cycles without significant suspicions. I don't believe his vote for Bugsy is worth lynching Araris for. It seems Sart is voting for Roadwalker on the basis that Roadwalker isn't a pirate. @Sart, are you saying you disbelieve his claim of being Miracle Max, or that you want to lynch Max because he has to revive a higher percentage of elims than villagers? Unless Sart has evidence that Roadwalker has false-claimed, I would not want to go after someone who claimed neutral. Instead, I wiww vote Bort, fow pwacing a second vote on Wawin. It is possibwe Bort mewewy missed Mawk making the same vote for identicaw weasoning, but it's stiww odd.
