  1. Is this what the Diagram looks like?
  2. New worst pet peeve: People who follow the letter of the law rather than the spirit of the law and the reasons behind it.

Context: I’m in a Discord server where one of the rules is ‘No RP’. That makes sense, RP can get icky in some scenarios, and it can be somewhat hard to moderate. So it’s fine, I never RP there. Today I was just chatting in there, and I mentioned I was eating a sugar cookie. Someone joking asked if they could have some, so I said, and I quote, “lol, sure. Yeets cookie.

and I got fricking called out for it. That was too much RP.

    Internal Screaming.

Tbf, there is a little bit more context, I’ve had previous conflict with the server staff member who called me out, before they were made staff. So now that they were promoted they try to catch me on everything possible. <_<

Makes me grateful we have such a good selection of staff here on the Shard. :P

      Which Discord server?

      Condensation

      Yikes, that's no fun.

  3. Good to know. Maybe. Someone might’ve just really thought that Reading was elim. I think I’ll go with the first option.
  4. Naw, Loyal Crewmates can have actual roles right? Like Kandra and stuff? Not just the elims?
  5. I’ve thought about this a lot and have the perfect solution to this ship. Add just a little bit more of foreshadowing and/or foundation for the Zutara ship, and then have Zuko die in the ending fight with Azula. Kissing Katara, and then dying. Specifically that one part where he jumps in front of the lightning to save Katara. That should have killed him. It fixes literally everything. 1. Makes Zuko + Katara Shippers happy. 2. Makes Aang + Katara Shippers happy, as she can still end up with Aang. 3. Zuko dying fits perfectly with EVERYTHING. 3a. The series needs a death in that final episode. There’s almost no weight to the ending when you think about it, literally everyone ‘lives happily ever after’. Someone needed to die to make the victory even better. And then when Aang decides to forgo violence and only take the Fire Lord’s bending, it makes that choice even harder and even more moral, as he has even more reason to want revenge. 3b. Zuko is the perfect candidate for the person who needs to die. His ark is over. He has been redeemed, found his honor, got forgiveness from his uncle, he is complete. We don’t even really see him again after that fight scene anyway. He could’ve died and have had almost no impact on the rest of the actual events of the story. It’s also the PERFECT way to close his redemption ark. He starts as the person trying to kill the protagonists, and ends up dying for them. 3c. Thematically it’s just epic. He gets killed by his sister, saving the girl he’s hunted for the entire story. He was scarred by his father, abandoned by his mother, and then finally killed by his sister. Zuko’s story is one of tragedy, it makes sense that it should end that way. Im cutting this off abruptly because tbh I got bored of typing it all, but I have a lot more thoughts on how perfect this is. It’s almost too perfect, like, I think the writers wanted to do this, but having one of the main characters dying was just a little bit too dark for Nickelodeon. Iirc the only real character death is Jet’s, and even that is purposely vague. (Katara and Sokka’s mom doesn’t count, she wasn’t really a character.)
  6. 1/2 TFA is pretty solid, 7/10 TLJ can die, garbage fire/10 TROS is epic and also epic, 9/10 and you forgot Rouge One, which was epic beyond epic, 10/10 Solo was okay, but whenever I think about it I can only remember that one horrible scene where they felt the need to explain the name Solo, and also the weird thing with Lando and the robot. 5/10 also Mandalorian is epic, 9/10. And now that I think about it, I think the first episode of season 2 came out like literally 10 minutes ago, it’s past midnight, and I think it was coming out today.
  7. The Rule of Amendment Format: An amendment must state the name rule they are amending, then copy the entire rule, with the suggested alterations being either Underlined (for added text) or Struck-Through (for removed text). I propose that The Rule of No Paradoxes be amended as such: The Rule of No Paradoxes: If a Rule is found to contradict another Rule, the Rule that has existed longer is the one who’s effect is taken into account. The other rule is completely disregarded. If the two contradictory rules were placed into effect simultaneously (i.e. approved in the same post) the King decides which one takes effect. The King may not approve two rules that obviously contradict each other in the same post. This is to keep the King from being too nice. With the current rules the king could approve a rule he would have otherwise rejected, but then still have the rule’s effect not take place. It’s really just a more elegant solution. Also, right now this rule is kinda in and of itself a paradox. It contradicts the basic rule that the King may not propose laws, choosing which rule gets to stay is essentially the same thing. Also also, those basic rules need to be reformatted and added to the King’s Rulebook.
  8. Sure! Also I don’t think I need a ninja, I’m not proposing a new rule, just drawing attention to an old one that got missed.
  9. Yeah, I had proposed this rule, which would mean that Redactions can’t have names and I saw that it wasn’t rejected so I had assumed it was approved, but it appears it flew under the radar and didn’t get a Verdict. May I get one now?
  10. I agree with this but it’s automatically invalid as it stands, formatting is wrong. Redactions don’t get names, as they aren’t rules. They don’t go in the Rulebook either, the rule it’s redacting just gets removed: Also Redacted not Repealed. I know they mean the same thing, but consistency, ya know? I do like the word appeal though, maybe better. Maybe a future amendment? Edit: Ah, it appears the rule im referencing here wasn’t actually approved, but it wasn’t rejected either. I think the King missed it. It was back in my first post.
  11. That sounds a lot like the king ‘making a proposal and then immediately approving’ it to me.
  12. The King said this: but uhh, the king would actually be wrong here. As my sphere rule hasn’t been Redacted, and it’s been in place longer. Yep, still have the default amount of +5.
  13. Kinda, mistings do still need to Snap, Harmony just changed the way snapping worked. It is still necessary though. So that fact speaks volumes actually, the fact that he couldn’t just remove snapping, he had to just change it. I agree, that’s why I said ‘almost’ in my first sentence, and said ‘trauma’ instead of ‘mental illness’ in my second. It’s more like the Illness and the SW Cracks are both caused by trauma, rather than the SW Cracks being caused by Illness. So there’s correlation between Mental Illness and SpiritWeb Cracks, but not necessary causation. Trauma is definitely necessary though. Dalinar killing his wife and subsequent alcoholism, and failing to save Gavilar. Shallan killing both her parents and basically just having a horrible childhood in general. Kaladin’s internal struggle between Medicine and Warfare plus watching Tien die. All trauma that caused their Mental Illnesses and their Spirit Web cracks. Dalinar in particular is a good example of the very close correlation between Illness and Radiancy, because we see his Mental Illness widen the cracks, even though they didn’t cause them. This is through his alcoholism. It is definitely possible to have some sort of Trauma without developing a Mental Illness though, but the Trauma could still cause Spirit Web cracks.
  14. I propose that rules cannot apply retroactively. Time is linear. I propose that each accepted rule is put into effect the moment it is approved. So if multiple rules are proposed and accepted, they are put into effect individually and in the order they appeared in the post. Not as a whole message. This means that rules can affect other rules in the same message, provided they are accepted and ordered correctly. The Rule of The Rulebook: I propose that the King keep a King’s Rulebook in the Original Post (OP), with a categorized list of numbered and named rules. Naming the rule is up to the Proposer, numbering and categorizing is the duty of the King. Older Rules that we’re accepted before this one must be named by the King. The Rule of Proposal Format: All proposals must have a name, and must be entirely bolded. The name must be underlined. The name must be on the same line as the rest of the proposal and have a colon on the end. The colon is considered apart of the name and must be underlined. Basically it just has to look exactly like this. The bolded text will be exactly what will appear in the King’s Rulebook. Any proposal formatted incorrectly is automatically rejected and the Proposer is fined accordingly. Clarifications and examples can be added in normal font, but those will not be added to the Kings Rulebook. So be sure to be clear in the actual proposal, as that is what will become law. Clarifications are not canon. The Rule of Accepted Proposal Reward Increase: An accepted proposal is rewarded with 10 spheres. The Rule of 17th Shard Guidelines: All proposals must follow the rules of the 17th Shard. The Rule of No Paradoxes: If a Rule is found to contradict another Rule, the Rule that has existed longer is the one who’s effect is taken into account. The other rule is completely disregarded. Not Redacted, disregarded. The newer rule still exists, its just that it’s effect doesn’t happen. The Rule of Proposal Types: A proposal can be one of three types. A New Rule, an Amendment, and a Redaction. A New Rule is a brand new rule, an Amendment is an alteration to an existing rule, and a Redaction is the complete removal of an existing rule. A proposal may only contain one of these things. A Redaction and an Amendment are not a New Rule, and thus they do not need a Name, and do not go in the Rulebook. Only the alteration goes into the RB. This means that if you’re proposing a New Rule that causes a conflict with an existing rule, you need to also propose that the existing rule be Redacted, otherwise your New Rule won’t do anything. The Rule of Rejected Proposal Punishment Increase: A rejected proposal is punished with minus 150% of whatever the current reward for an accepted one is. So in this case it would be 15, until the reward is raised again.
  15. I confess that every time I see this thread I think: Why is this still a thing?!?? It was a tiny lil throwaway joke thread! How does it have 12 pages?!?
  16. It’s not just that Knights Radiant can have Mental Illnesses, they almost need to. The cracks in their SpiritWeb that trauma causes is what allows investiture to fill them in the form of the Nahel bond. Same principle with Mistborn snapping and the Mist Sickness. Gotta break the SpiritWeb a bit if you want to be able to use innate investiture. This is also the basis of Hemalurgy, where instead of natural snapping to crack the Spiritweb, you forcefully and intentionally rip a piece off and staple a new bit on.
  17. @Experience Do you mind if I start an Imperial Nomic game? I want to do a sort of mini/joke game. Like, start with almost NO rules, but make sure to include a time limit of something insanely short, like 5 days total. Then sit back and watch the chaos. MiniNomic:tm:
  18. All of the above, but I think I mainly use it for the same things people use the :eyes: emoji for. Sorta like an “I saw you do that”. Also, you can use it for sarcasmy stuff. Like, say I pinged someone but hid the post or something. They say “who pinged me”, I could say “Uhhhhhh I have no idea. Nope. Absolutely no idea. “
  19. Why are you making impatient Dannnex noises? Wouldn’t you make impatient Condensation noises?
  20. “Oh.” Radriarc suddenly looks very nervous. “Can we....not use one of those?” They're just on the other side of the city, cmon, let’s walk.”
  21. This isn’t a real problem exactly, but it’s something I was thinking about. I could probably find the answer pretty easily if I found my old trig notes and/or thought about it for more than 2 seconds, but ima share it anyway. You have 2 lines, one with a slope of 1/2, one with a slope of -1/2. They intersect. What is the degree of the angle that the intersection makes? edit:
