  1. I’m not going to not vote someone because “oh they’re probably just trolling, like they do” that would be like “oh, gears claimed Elim, he’s probably not Elim then.” the possibility of trolling is NAI.
  2. We continue playing the game, either with an Elim down, or the knowledge that Vanillas are in the game. I don’t see why a vil would do this tbh, seems like it would mislead the village just as much as the Elims. I’m not against them, I just usually abstain from voting myself. But in this scenario it seems like we get some valuable info either way you flip.
  3. Well, then we do Illwei, to see if you’re lying or not. Either you’re lying and an Elim, or a Vanilla, and therefore expendable. Mishanging a Vanilla is the best possible mishang, so it’s basically a win-win.
  4. We only need one person to claim, letting the Elims cross a single person off in exchange for our knowing that vanilla roles are in the game is worth it imo.
  5. If anyone is Vanilla you should come out and claim. You’re vanilla, so to be brutally honest, you’re expendable. So revealing yourself isn’t that bad. And then we know to include possible Vanilla roles in our analysis.
  6. Greetings all, I exist. Let’s do some role analysis shall we? This is a kinda weird role, it’s basically the same as the Brown Ajah but a lot worse. You only get to know if the target is a single specific role or not. Whereas the BA can just learn their role completely. Maybe I’m misunderstanding something. This is the most powerful kill role I’ve seen, so I am very sure that we only have one of them, and that they’re village. You should find someone you trust and claim, since this role is almost definitely confirmed village. If we can get a pair of people that are both 100% sure that the other is safe, that’s a powerful asset for the village. Really, having even a single person confirmed village is an asset. Ideally the GA would prove that they are the GA via a BA scan, and then we get 2 YAs to stagger protect them. That’s obviously not going to happen, there wouldn’t be a way to set it up without the BLA learning a ton of stuff they shouldn’t. My only other thought is: please don’t be trigger happy. A kill a cycle is a lot, use it carefully. Pretty basic vote manip, I’d guess we have 2 in the game, with one being a BLA. It’s interesting as it’s kinda 2 vote manip roles in one, vote removing and extra voting. I encourage everyone to vote every cycle so that the BA GA doesn’t get an extra vote. Even if it means jumping on a train. We should avoid ties, so if you haven’t voted yet and don’t know who to vote, vote for whoever has the most. Role scanner, seems like a direct upgrade of a RA. Because it seems like an exact upgrade, It seems logical that there are more RAs than BAs. And given the number of roles and the number of players, I’d guess we only have one of these. I think the BA should try and find the GA and....the....GA. Ah shoot, my acronym system breaks down here. Grey and Green. They share the same first three letters. sighhhh. Ok, let’s just say that GA is green, and GRA is grey. Anyway, the BA should try and find the GA and the GRA, GA because they’re confirmed village, and GRA because they might be Elim. Basic healer role, not much to say. Try and find another YA so we can stagger protect someone if we need to. Oh c’mon, now we have Brown Black and Blue. The acronym system is just dead. I guess we could do BRA BLA and BA, respectively? No, this is just dumb. Anyways, I’m never sure how to use roles like this. You can see whoever visits your target. I don’t really see any specific strategies, just make good guesses I guess. Not sure how this role is useful either. Bonded pairs aren’t necessarily the same faction, so this doesn’t tell us a lot. Seems pretty situational. So if somebody survives a hanging, they’re definitely a Warder. No other role can survive a hang. That’s somewhat useful. Maybe.
  7. Just randomly came up with this magic system, do y’all think it’s worth continuing into something? It’s based on an idea I’ve had brewing in my mind for a while, those of you who read my one Christmas Advent Calendar submission will see the similarities. I haven’t edited or refined this at all, pure stream of consciousness, I came up with an idea and wrote it, so any and all input is appreciated. Is it too similar to anything that already exists? Please, be as harsh as you want, this took me like 3 minutes of brainstorming, so I literally cannot take offense.

    Spoiler

    Shadow Walkers

Can control their Shadows somewhat. Send messages, scout for info, etc.Shadows are hateful spirit-like creatures. Shadow Walkers still have a literal shadow, like from light, but it seems extra dark when their Bound Shadow is with them. Shadow Walkers have to stay in well-lit areas, their Bound Shadow is constrained and defined by their actual shadow. If they go into a completely dark room, they lose their shadow, so their Bound Shadow has no limits and consumes them. When sending out your Bound Shadow on errands, their size and shape is defined by how your shadow looks at the moment you send them away. If you are in an area with multiple lights and therefore have multiple shadows, the Bound Shadow will be imprinted on whichever shadow is most prominent. If they are all equally prominent, the Bound Shadow attempts to be imprinted on all of them. That usually results in diminished power and ability to function.

All of that is the basic information that people are supposed to know, here’s the secret stuff that is revealed through plot. There are only so many Bindable Shadows in the world, each one is a parallel of a living person. The more grief and loss that person has experienced, the more powerful their parallel shadow is. If a person manages to bind their Shadow, they will have much more power. If they manage to convince the Shadow to willingly bond with them, they are even more powerful.

I need a better name than Bound Shadow or just ‘Shadow’ vs ’shadow’. Shadowling? Living Shadow? Living Dark? Dark Shadow? Shade? Maybe I should just make up my own word. Shadin? Shadinn? Shadjin?

  8. Even I know that, it’s rather obvious. We don’t see them wear pants, therefore they don’t like wearing pants. Easy. The most obscure thing I know is that the potters fortune was made by Harry’s grandfather inventing a hair product or something.
  9. Hey this is the RoW spoiler board, I haven’t read SA 8 yet!
  10. Alright, you’ve convinced me, I guess I can see Kel as a Willshaper. The Gem Archive quote and the Quote about them being Flamboyant are really good. I think I might consider him a Lightweaver more, but Willshaper is a close second. I think that art isn’t a necessary requirement for Lightweavers, wasn’t Elhokar close to bonding one when he died? I don’t think he has any real artsy thing going on.
  11. I just watched the RDJ Sherlock Holmes movie, and I think it’s really really similar to what a Mistborn Era 2 movie would look like. The period is exactly right, right before electricity becomes widespread, it’s a crime and conspiracy centered movie, and it has a duo as the main characters. Its obviously very different in the specifics, but it’s probably the closest thing you can find. It’s a really interesting ‘proof of concept’ kinda.

    1. Condensation

      Condensation

      That sounds awesome!

    2. Bearer of all agonies

      Bearer of all agonies

I know. It’s soooo good. Especially because I think the fighting style(slo-mo fights) would be perfect for mistborn. :)

  12. Agh I changed my mind, sign me up. I read the ruleset more thoroughly and it looks too cool to pass up. I almost wish it was a LG so we could see how different interactions play out more. It seems like most people aren’t planning on RPing, and a lot of the few that are RPing haven’t read WoT, so avoiding spoilers should actually be pretty easy. Also wow, new people. Like, really new people. I’ve never seen people join the shard just for SE. Welcome! I might post some small predictions or a mini rule analysis later in this thread, because then it’s guaranteed NAI. Tangentially related thought, but I’ve actually thought about playing a game where I never look at my GM PM, so everything I do has to be NAI. Could be chaotic, could be boring, but it could also be really fun. Not this game though.
  13. Ughhh I want to sign up but I don’t want WoT spoilers since I’m actually reading them right now. Guess I’ll sit this one out.
  14. Yeah, and we don’t even know if Adonalsium had a Shard and a Vessel. He might’ve just been a naturally invested being.
  15. I do not think he would be a willshaper. “I will seek freedom” doesn’t really seem like him. Sure he started a revolution, but it wasn’t for freedom really, no matter what he said to the crew. He just wanted revenge. I’d probably put him as a lightweaver but I’ll think on this more.
  16. I think you’re jumping to quite a few conclusions here. 1. We don’t know that shattered shards always leave a cognitive shadow, it happened with Leras because he had a very slow and protracted death. It kinda happened with Honor and the Stormfather, but not really. 2. From the information I found, Frost isn’t the leader of the 17th shard. The most info I could find was that he was ‘associated’ with them. That makes it sound like he isn’t even a member at all. 3. Leading the Seventeenth Shard (I think most people use ‘17th’ to refer to the website and ‘Seventeenth’ to refer to the workshopping group btw) to do what? They mainly have a policy of non-intervention, basically just scholars. What would the most powerful being in the Cosmere want with a group of scholars that don’t do anything? Afaik he directly named it. The admins were thinking of naming it something completely different, and they asked Brandon and he said ‘The Seventeenth Shard’. I think that’s just why Brandon chose the name for us. =P
  17. But they weren’t cosmere-aware, they were just doing it because of prophesies and stuffs. Probably wouldn’t know how to use it as a perpendicularity. He still managed to get from the Cognitive Well to the Physical Well, and then out of the building. So theoretically someone could also get in the building. It would probably be a lot easier to use the pits though. Which actually wouldn’t be that bad, the pits are only horrible if you’re a prisoner there and have to stick your arms in the geodes for atium. If you were just climbing it would be uncomfortable, but definitely not impossible. Just a tight squeeze. Especially if you knew what you were doing, which a theoretical cosmere-aware Feruchemist would. And I doubt the pits themselves were guarded at night, the people running the pits would be guarding the prisoners, who would be out of the pits. Wait no, it could also be a full Feruchemist from Era 1, I have the rule of cool too.
  18. If they’re a worldhopper I think it’s assumed they aren’t part of the general population. And technically I could say the same thing about Era 0 people. Hoid got through somehow, a cosmere-aware Feruchemist could have. The pits or the well, both are technically possible, if the Feruchemist was sneaky enough. Hmm, touché. Welp, this proves it, they must be from from Era 0.
  19. Technically the prelude of SA is earlier, but I see your point. So it’s possible they’re from Era 0, but I definitely don’t see how it’s “more likely” than them just being ferrings or from Era 1.
  20. She’s not that old is she? Coppermind doesn’t seem to say.
  21. It was over thousand years ago, and sure, worldhoppers have some sort of time dilation happening, but not that much. (Excluding Hoid ofc). Occam’s Razor, it makes a lot more sense that they’re either a Ferring with multiple Metalminds or from Era 1.
