  1. Not really. Because the Beyond is literally ‘beyond’ all forms of investiture, ‘real’ Souls and Investiture don’t have anything to do with each other. But we do in fact see people staying longer when they’re more invested, how is that possible if the Soul and Investiture are separate? Well I think that cognitive shadows aren’t actually the people who died. They are a remnant. A shadow. A cognitive shadow. All of the cognitive shadows we’ve seen aren’t really the original person, that person has passed into the Beyond along with their Soul. This way it makes sense for why it takes invested people’s cognitive aspects longer to dissipate. Cognitive and Spiritual Aspects are known to be connected to investiture. People’s Souls (Souls != Spiritual Aspect.) on the other hand, are a purely philosophical concept, they are beyond realmatics (beyond the entire canon of the Cosmere even) and wouldn’t have any connection to investiture. Storywise, it really makes no difference. The cognitive shadows have all the same memories as the actual character, but large-scale-realmatic-and-theological-theory-wise, I think that’s an important distinction.
  2. No? I made like 2 posts about it. And I have not placed my vote back on them. That reasoning really only made sense of archer was Elim. He wasn’t. So Bard is back to null for me. (And maybe that kinda clears me a lil bit? I hesitate to be the one that points this out, because then people think I’m an Elim and orchestrated all of this so that I can then do exactly what I’m doing now and point it out, but I’ll say it anyway. If I was Elim, then my D1 actions imply that I was setting up for a Bard/Archer future misshrek. But then the Elims killed archer. Elim!me would’ve kept archer alive for a possible future misshrek.) Speaking of Archer, we should try and analyze why he was killed. What is archer good at, meta-wise? If we know what archer was really good at, then we know what the Elims were scared of, and that could help us find them. It could’ve just been a random D1 kill, but I think it’s a better lead to go off than what we’re doing now, basically just analyzing tone and not getting anywhere.
  3. Maybe Orlok is a doctor then. I very much doubt there’s only one. Although I’ll admit that I was unaware that the doc is posted publicly every cycle. That does make me think differently about the role. Also, wait, are people only sent to the hospital if they were killed by trapper/elims? Not the shrek? I had assumed both were sent to the hospital, but seeing how TUOs role was revealed I guess they just went straight to the spectator doc.
  4. Oh. That is indeed true, but the Beyond isn’t the Spiritual Realm. Very very different.
  5. [Citation Needed] All Investiture comes from Adonalsium, No?
  6. Is this a response to my post directly above yours? Because I explain that exactly. The Beyond is not a place of Investiture. Your Investiture-Soul (spiritweb) has to be a separate thing from your theoretical ‘Soul-Soul’, based on the way the concept of the Beyond is addressed.
  7. That was Shallan’s traumatized mind hallucinating. It was dismissed almost immediately, as little kid Shallan hadn’t had any training to keep the blade manifested. And we see Shallan talking to Testament in spren form after she killed her mom, when she breaks her bond. So it was certainly dismissed. Here’s what the Coppermind says. Nope, it was Testament. Absolutely. She has to count to 10, and living blades can be summoned instantly. I don’t even think she could’ve summoned Pattern at that point, I don’t think their bond was far enough along. Absolutely not. There is a ton of foreshadowing for Testament. 1. Having to count to 10 in the Tyn fight. 2. Pattern being convinced that Shallan will kill him eventually. 3. Pattern saying that another Spren would be sent when he dies. 4. Pattern then being mildly puzzled when Shallan asks why. He is confused because it has already happened once, so it makes sense for a third to be sent. He is confused as to why Shallan doesn’t come to the same conclusion. 5. The fact that Pattern is not very sentient when we first see him. If they had been bonded since Shallan was a child, he would be much more intelligent.
  8. My interpretation of Souls in the cosmere is like this. Souls != Spiritual Aspect. Realmatic Theory says that each person has three aspects of themselves, each present in one of the three realms. Your Physical Aspect (body) is in the Physical Realm, your Cognitive Aspect (mind) is in the Cognitive Realm (aka Shadesmar), and your Spiritual Aspect (soul aka Spiritweb) is in the Spiritual Realm. This ties into a ton of things like Shardblade wounds and investiture healing, but when the Beyond is concerned, I am of the opinion that your “Spiritual Aspect” isn’t your actual Soul. Otherwise all sorts of Cosmere rules start messing everything up. Like, if your Spiritual Aspect was what went to the Beyond (if the Beyond exists), then people killed by Shardblades or Nightblood or Hemalurgy wouldn’t go there, since those weapons attack people’s spiritwebs. And that just doesn’t seem right. Brandon wants the existence of a ‘true afterlife’ to be completely up to the reader’s interpretation, to be a vague concept that isn’t directly touched. So, to say that people’s Spiritual Aspects are what is pulled into the Beyond, that just doesn’t fit. Therefore, people’s souls != people’s Souls. TL;DR: There is no canon answer to the question of “Did Phendorana go to the Beyond?”, as whether or not Spren have Souls (as opposed to spiritwebs) is up to debate and will not be answered.
  9. I want to read this so bad. Someone needs to write the DarkCosmere canon right now.
  10. Anyone else here like AJR? I just saw the tracklist for “OK Orchestra” and I am hyped

I doubt I have ever heard a song of theirs. I have never heard of this band...

I've got a couple songs of theirs in my library--I'm not super into them overall, but I like their sound a lot.

  11. I believe it was confirmed in the rules that there are some.
  12. Ehhhh, I guess. Having an entire doc feels different though.
  13. I think I was vanilla in my one Elim game, whatever that was either way I don’t think that matters, that’s not why I think there’s a lot of doctors. I believe we have 3-4 because they have a doc. 1-2 doctors with their own doc doesn’t make a ton of sense.
  14. So have I, and I am mildly suspicious of it. Because they agree with me about Bard and you don’t?
  15. Only mildly suspicious of this, but still suspicious enough for a vote. Young Bard. Reasoning: there was literally only 1.4 pages in the thread at the time of his posting that. 35 messages. Seems unlikely they would miss Archer’s post when there was barely anything to go through. Also, Bard’s poke-vote post was rather large, so I assume they put some time into it. And yet, despite all the time spent in the thread, they ‘missed’ the fact that Archer had already posted. Archer’s post was number 8 btw, at the very top of the page. I would not be surprised if this is an Elim!Bard/Elim!Archer team, with Bard trying to distance himself from Archer.
  16. Ohhh true, for some reason I was thinking aviars would protect from the shrek but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I can still see an Elim!Aviar, but it would be less effective. Yes this is obviously what I was talking about. Totally not Town of Salem. Obviously Terms of Service. XD.
  17. Hmm good point. Okay there might be an Elim Bio, but I’m sticking with my previous guess for the whole team.
  18. Sighs in “Oh gosh, I’m finally back in a game”. Seriously it’s been forever. Like, practically an entire week. Ridiculous. I can already feel the comfortable blanket of stress and paranoia settling over me. Good to be back. =P Time to do some role distribution guessing, even though everyone keeps telling me not to. I guess that there are 2-4 doctors, and that the Elims have at least one. Probably only one. I doubt they have a trapper, but it is a weak-ish Kill Role, so I wouldn’t be super surprised if they did. There could be 2 trappers in the game, but I doubt more than that. I think we only have one security officer, and I bet their vil. Maybe I’m semi-biased here though, because it’s very similar to tos jailor role, which is always vil afaik. Aviar Holder could be either faction. I bet we have 3-4 of these, and the Elims have at least one. Biologist feels like a village role, I don’t think Elims would benefit from that very much. No guesses on how many there are. I guess we have 2-3 bookkeepers. I am relatively sure one would be an Elim. Im confused about the messenger role. Can they create PMs between two other people, like AG Prudence? Or do they just create as many one-on one PMs with themselves and someone else? If it’s the first one, I guess we only have one. If it’s the second, I guess we have 2, with one Elim. I also guess we have a 4 person Elim team. So my guesses for the Elim team roles are: Aviar Holder, Doctor, Bookkeeper, Vanilla.
  19. Oh dang, I was sure animalia was right. Gavilar fit very well. Uhh I think it’s probably Helaran, but that’s been said, so the only other person I can think of is Ati, and you’re trolling us by using lowercase ‘shardbearer’ XD
  20. Sadeas? Did he have a sibling?
  21. Alright, I'm just glad to know it's still happening.
  22. Question: Is this still gonna happen? Has it just been delayed, or was the plan scrapped?
