  1. Isn’t that a Thomas sanders vine?
  2. Epic. Also, I just had an idea for a theme, but I’m not sure it’ll work. What if I chose a Sanderson character as the theme. I didnt want to just have the theme be something like “the cosmere”, because 1. That’s too vague, and 2. Sanderson Memes has like every joke already. but what if I just chose a specific character? Brandon’s characters are so well written that there should still be a ton of ways to approach making a meme about them, and then it’s still specific enough to not just be vague and pointless. thoughts? Also, I’ve read RoW, so if we do end up doing this, (and if both assistants have read it too) then you could make RoW memes. You just couldn’t share them in the thread afterwards.
  3. I’m working on that. I’ve got some ideas, but they need to be refined a little bit. Will probably put it up later today or tomorrow morning at the latest. It’s hard to think of something relatable to everyone. Like, I was thinking I could choose a piece of pop culture or something, but what if someone doesn’t know what that is? So what if I just make the theme “pop culture”? Well then I might not know what someone’s submission is. So finding a balance is the tricky part. And then also having the theme not be too vague on top of all of that. Also, I am putting out a call for a second assistant. Can be anyone, a contestant or just someone watching. Connie has been amazing, but not everyone can be online all the time, so hopefully having a second assistant will increase the odds of someone being online sooner, just to help streamline the process. meme submissions would be the same, you just send them to both assistants at once in a group PM.
  4. I am so confused what even is this thread I’m laughing but I am so confused
  5. A bishop a priest and a rabbit walk into a bar. The bartender says, “Before I can serve you, I need to know your blood type, new policy.” The bishop says, “My blood type is A” The priest says, “I’m a B-“ The rabbit says, “Uh, I think I’m a Type O”
  6. Alright here we go. Your score was Humor: 18/20 Theme: 6/10 Design: 6/10 Originality: 5/5 Total: 35/45 Now a breakdown. 18/20 for humor. Not too much to say here, I just found it pretty funny. Not like, the funniest thing ever, so not 20/20, but still very funny. It’s very relatable, so that contributes quite a bit. 6/10 for theme. Docked a few points here because I think the punchline was more about the Shard than it was about Quarantine. In hindsight maybe I docked too many points, the general topic is still quarantine, even if the punchline isn’t super related to it. 6/10 for design. I had a general rule while judging that I was docking 3 points for any meme with a watermark. Maybe I’ll lower that to 2 points for the next round, not sure. And then I docked one more point because I think it would’ve been better if the 17th Shard logo was specifically above the gun, so it’s like you’re killing your social life with the Shard. As it is, both the logo and the “Me” are referring to the same thing, so it’s mildly confusing, like “so who does he represent, ‘me’ or the shard? Also, I found the phrasing “my in-person social life” a bit clunky. Could’ve just said “my social life”, and it would’ve made just as much sense. I can see why you’d want to clarify it, but still. So those 2 things together equal one docked point, plus 3 for imageflip watermark. 5/5 for originality. Pretty basic, any Sanderson or 17th shard meme is basically guaranteed 5/5 here. So there we go, breakdown of the meme. If anyone has any ideas on balancing the criteria scores, I’d appreciate them. It’s currently at Humor: /20 Theme: /10 Design: /10 Originality: /5 My current thoughts are maybe lowering the weight of the Theme score, having that be weighted the same as design seems a bit much. But then it’s also pretty easy to score high on theme so maybe it’s good how it is.
  7. I would like to issue a formal apology to @Archer, whose meme was lost in the mail. They have graciously said that they don’t want a retconned score, and I am ever so grateful for that.
  8. I think I’m only gonna give the specific score/critique for the winners. Otherwise people could figure out exactly where they placed and that kinda defeats the purpose of only saying who won. I wanted this to be a positivity-oriented contest, that’s why I decided to not do an Elimination style contest. Speaking of that, I will do a complete breakdown of the Winner’s memes if they desire.
  9. I feel like I should mention how close this was. The winning score was 35/45, but there was a three way tie for second place at 34/45. That’s 5 memes inches away from each other. ONLY 7 WERE SUBMITTED. Y’all did not make this easy.
  10. [Fade in from black. The camera shows the same scene from before the commercial break.] The winner of the first round of the first ever 17th Shard Meme Competition iiiissssss... [He rips off the cloth to reveal not one, but TWO memes! The audience gasps in shock.] That’s right folks, we have a tie! @2EmLee2 and @AonEne are our WINNERS! They tied for first place with a score of 35/45! They both receive one point. If either one of them receives another, they are the winners of this entire competition. Congratulations!!!
  11. [The camera pans across a live studio audience, all clapping and cheering as the curtains open. The house lights dim, the theme song begins playing, and a fashionably dressed man walks out on stage as the audience quiets.] Welllllcome back to the first ever 17th Shard Meme Competition! I’m your host, Dannnnex, and it’s time for what you’ve all been waiting for, the announcement of the winner of the first round! [The audience goes wild. They have, in-fact, all been waiting for this.] We have 7 wonderful submissions here today, but only one will leave the winner. 3 people did not submit a meme, those people being @Eluvianii, @Archer and @Experience. If any of you did submit a meme and I somehow misplaced it, please let me know ASAP. Remember, this does not mean you are out of the competition, you are merely exempt from earning a point this round. If you would like to formally drop out of the contest, please reach out to me. But enough of that! Onto the winner! [A platform opens up on the stage, and an easel covered by a red velvet cloth is rises up from below. The immaculately dressed announcer begins speaking in a very slow voice, pausing dramatically at every opportunity.] The winner [A drumroll begins playing.] Of the first round [The intense music swells.] Of the first ever [The audience is frozen in anticipation.] 17th Shard Meme Competition [The stylishly dressed man reaches for the velvet cloth.] Iiiiiiiiiiiisssss [He rips the cloth off of the easel, right as the camera switches to a view of the audience, some looking shocked, others looking joyful, the music swells, and the show’s animated logo rolls across the screen. A pre-recorded voice begins speaking.] We will return to our program after these messages from our sponsor, Dannnnex Inc. [Fade to black.]
  12. Oh oops. Yeah I made my decision yesterday, and then I was waiting for Connie to reveal whose was whose so I could actually announce the winner. She told me last night, and I meant to announce it this morning during my 2nd hour but we had a surprise essay to write. Gimme a sec to write it up
  13. While Coinshots might not be able to make lasers, I believe that Brandon said Lightweavers will be able to. All it really requires is intent, so once Roshar discovers lasers, things are going to get pretty interesting...
  14. Hey everyone, remember when we all signed this bat? Good times.C37FF023-58B8-452B-9E6A-6F41DFA3D312.thumb.jpeg.c5e176c0d582cd70f096718fb3994c62.jpeg

Oh wait I just realised why I don't remember this. It says everybody "alive" and I am very much dead inside :D

  15. Guys, we gotta stop letting this thread die. Frankly, it’s just irresponsible.
  16. Oops, didn’t actually mean to hit send right then here’s the rest of what I was about to say: I have just finalized the judging, and now I’m waiting for Connie to tell me whose meme was whose so I can announce the winner. I won’t actually post any of the memes myself, since I want y’all to be able to get Rep for them, not me. So once I post the results, y’all will have the rest of the day to post the meme you made here in the thread. Then we can start Round 2 tomorrow.
  17. Agh I’m dumb. Rip. ”How Dannex lost all his credibility in one post” =P
  18. 2 possible puns actually ‘Skai’s the limit’ because skai is Devotion, the shard that powers forgery so skai would literally be the limit alternatively ‘Shai’s the limit’ because Shai is literally the best forger there is. so she could be considered the limit
  19. "Which is why we'd only maybe kill the Crossbowman, so the Bait have to decide what to risk, risk giving one of us the CB and that person surviving or risk giving it to themselves and getting voted out. Let the IKYK abound!" Sure why not. My Secret is this: I was told that other people will be using code phrases throughout this game, if they use it enough without people noticing they get a fancy cosmetic role at the end. I was told that I get a fancy cosmetic role at the end if I figure out what other people's codes are. AFAIK this is all purely cosmetic, nothing to actually do with the game.
  20. "Hmm, well, I think the best plan is probably to just have everyone vote for themselves, and then we maybe vote out whoever wins. The Bait might vote to give it to one of their own, or they might give it to someone else. That's a 50/50 chance of randomly finding a bait, which is a lot better than the current odds of 3/12. I say that we should only maybe vote out whoever wins to make sure that we have some suitable ikyk going on. Because there's only a chance we vote out who gets it, the Bait has to actually decide to give it to one of themselves or one of us. Also @Flyingbooks your code phrase is "butterflies,". Sorry."
