  1. If I get eliminated, look at some people who jumped on at the middle/end of my train, but who jumped on before people started voting Whysper If someone jumped on at the end of my train, and then later jumped on the end of the Whysper train. very suspicious. Also be suspicious of people who defended me like they already knew I would flip vil
  2. So I have an idea for a ruleset that I think would be fun, but the entire thing is heavily centered around secrets, so much so that I can't really explain any of it at all without ruining it. How would I go about signing this up? It's kinda a very very weird concept, I actually think it might fit better as one of those new 'Break Tank' formats. So if it doesn't work at all and totally flops, it won't actually interrupt the cycle of real games. But yeah, I can't really explain it at all without ruining it, so who do I need to talk to?
  3. Alright, that was probably one of the funnest things I’ve ever done. Seriously. It worked so well. I wasn’t really expecting it to work at all, and instead we all had so much fun we played for like 3 hours. Here’s the exact ruleset I used for our first game, which were probably the best one: The mafia won that game, but it was VERY close. It got down to the point where there were 4 people left, the Doctor, a Vanilla, The Vigilante and a Mafia. The Vanilla had been proven Village the previous cycle by some shenanigans that happened with the Joker (who also won, despite being openly the Joker the entire game.), and so had the doctor because of an earlier Detective Scan. So they had to choose between the Maf and the Vigil. They voted off the Vigil, and so the Doctor and Vanilla both knew who it was, but they had to survive the night. Which basically meant that the Doctor had to choose the right person to protect. 50/50 chance of winning or losing. It was literally insane. He was stressing so much, and all the dead players were just freaking out. That night cycle lasted quite a while because he couldn’t choose, but eventually he chose to protect the Vanilla, but the Maf had tried to kill him. So the Maf won. It was so hectic, I just couldn’t stop laughing. I think I should note the age of some of these players. I was the oldest at 16. The mafia team for that game consisted of a 13 yr old, a 8 yr old, and an 11 yr old. And they won. And they actually played well too. The 11 yr old was the one alive at the end, because she had played dumb the entire game. Almost every statement she made was something like “I’m confused”, but it was 100% an act. I was so impressed.
  4. I’ve never heard of James Michener before, but from what you’re describing, Isaac Asimov’s Foundation series seems to fit pretty well. It’s definitely more Sci-Fi than fantasy, but it definitely fits what you want. It follows the evolution of an entire society, jumping ahead a generation or two at a time.
  5. Well, I’m specifically suspicious of Whysper. Here, look at this. This is the post that started all of this. I really don’t see anything here worthy of reading me as Elim. And it seems most of you thought the same, as nobody really said anything about it until Whysper did.....24 hours later. It should be noted that a ton of other discussion had happened, and Whysper themselves had posted many times. And they hadn’t brought this up before. Also, they start with a vote. They don’t say, “hey I kinda think this post is sus”, they jump straight to “this singular post is exe worthy”, and I really don’t think it was. It’s weird too, because they downplay it by saying “getting a bit of an Elim vibe”, as if they only had a mild suspicion of it, but then they place their vote in that same post, before saying anything else. The juxtaposition of the intensity of their actions and mildness of their verbal accusations seems really strange. Like an Elim who already knows I’d flip village. This makes me think that one of two things was happening. 1. An Elim was currently up for the exe, so they had to find another target for the exe and landed on me. or 2. they just saw that post and figured they could use it for an easy misexe I’m trying to look at the votes for that cycle and see who was up for the exe when Whysper posted that, and I think it was Archer, who I currently trust, but now I’m not sure. It does seem kinda weird that they were defending me so much. Maybe they know I’ll flip village and want to seem like they were defending me? Gain village trust? And they are currently voting their Elim teammate Whysper because they know it’s safe because everyone else is voting me? That might be a bit too tinfoily, but I’m no longer sure of how much I trust Archer.
  6. Oof yeah, good point. The protector was nightkilled N1, so luckily that didn’t happen, but that is indeed very gamebreaking. I think adding a Roleblocker would be a good way to counter that. Speaking of that, should we start with a Day turn? I’ve been starting with a Night since that’s usually how party mafia works, but I guess we don’t have to. Yeah, I couldn’t think of an easy way to do it. I wanted to have some sort of role that takes an action during the Day turn, but if vote manip is off the table I’m not sure what would work. I was thinking about maybe having a role that doesn’t take an action, but they have a passive ability, like their vote counts for two of something. Don’t know if that would really add anything to the game though. thanks for the resources, I’ll check them out!
  7. Oooh, good idea with the jester. A vigilante would be a good idea too.
  8. 1. I wasn’t on at the end of the cycle, so I couldn’t change to a self pres. 2. I have no control over who other people choose to vote for. 3. I didn’t bash infokilling, I bashed the fact that there’s literally no defense for infokilling, other than just arguing that it won’t give info. Edit: and even if I did bash infokilling, that’s just a playstyle/game meta preference. How is that AI? 4. I haven’t shared any suspicions because I don’t have all that many that aren’t somewhat biased. I’m suspicious of all the people jumping on me, since I really don’t think it makes sense, but saying that wouldn’t really do anything, cause that’s obviously a biased opinion.
  9. There really isn’t a good thread for this, but I think this one fits the best. So I’m playing Mafia irl with my visiting extended family rn, and I want to see how complicated I can make it. See what SE roles I can add. I did a 9 person game earlier. It had 2 mafia 1 alignment scanner 1 protector and 6 villagers. That went pretty well, but the alignment scanner found both mafias back to back on N1 and N2, so the game ended quickly. I’m thinking if I can find a way to do irl Vote Manip, but that might be a bit complicated. I could probably implement a Joker/Jester/whatever-you-wanna-call-it role pretty easily, so I think I’ll do that. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I think we’ll have about 11 players max. Do y’all think that’s enough for a 3 Elim team?
  10. This man is a genius. And I guess I join him on Whysper. Also, @Matrim's Dice, vote count please? I have nothing else to say reguarding my defense for the Dannexe, Archer basically said everything I would’ve said, but he made more sense. I might end up roleclaiming as a last resort, but at this point I’m hoping I won’t have to do that.
  11. Lol that’s amazing XD take my upvote good sir
  12. Sadly, nope. That would be cold though. Most paranormal thing that’s happened to me is either A. some rather insane coincidences, or B. the fact that I’ve been getting statically shocked by literally everything the past couple of months. Like it’s honestly weird. TPBM believes in the classical idea of ghosts.
