@Chaos, I know that this thread is old, but it is pinned and the question is relevant to the topic, so I think it makes more sense then making a new topic: I now realize that the spoilers in my sig are not acceptable, but before I change it to fix them I was wondering if I could suggest a different solution: a thread for extended signatures. Basically, on another forum that I am on, when people have so much stuff in their signatures that it becomes obnoxious (or they want to include an oversized image) they create a post on the extended signature thread, put all of their stuff their, and in their signature they just put a few of their absolute favorite quotes (or whatever it is they choose) and a link to their extended signature. Would that be an acceptable solution?

Which Cast Would Like to Make Puns the Most?
Personification replied to Invocation's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I would say that as a culture the answer is probably Hallandrans, because of their flamboyance and the verbal nature of their magic, and Aonicpeople would also probably have a good pun culture due to the easy basis of Aon meanings for puns. However, you said cast, so I am forced to answer Mistborn E2, because Wayne alone could outpun a drunk Horneater with a rhyming dictionary. -
Koloss Head Munching Day 2018
Personification replied to Ashertliden's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Honestly, I get it, but I kind of disagree with both points. Before the events of the books, Venli was working in a lab and taking care of her mother, and then she got tricked/indoctrinated by a voidspren into working for Odium (and this seems like it only even happened either just before or even at the beginning of the main events of WoK, so it isn't really much of an arc for a flashback) after which she continued to work in a lab. Meanwhile, Eshonai is described as having been a semi-rebellious child who loved to explore, and was part of the group that first made contact with and established an agreement with Gavilar, right at the time when he started acting weird. And as for the spoilered thing, I think that it would just serve to cheapen the death (and give credence to all future "but maybe they didn't die...recovering in TAHITI...maybe nobody that we like will actually die for real" type theories), something that Brandon seems to be very wary of, especially after Secret History and Jasnah, as well as add an unnecessary element to an already complex fictional world. Honestly, as a fan of the character I would love it if Eshonai had never died, but as a fan of the books I can see that it added a sense of seriousness and risk to the story, as well as made room for Venli to work as a complex viewpoint character. -
I for one, would love both a Children of the Nameless cast and a Tolkiencast. Also, I would like to pedantically point out that while "met" doesn't always mean "for the first time" it is strongly implied when someone says "This year I met X person," in an excited way.

Has the time of the Ookla come to a close, or should I wait until it is closer to midnight to change my username?

Koloss Head Munching Day 2018
Personification replied to Ashertliden's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Also, if anyone is interested, I made several Koloss Head-Munching Day song parodies last year if anyone is interested. They can be found here: I will try to make a new batch this year (probably all based on "Frosty the Dragon Snowman") but I may not have time because it is finals week. -
Koloss Head Munching Day 2018

It seems like he is now doing that already with some books, including Death By Pizza Calzones Amazon Prime Same-Day Delivery Drones Delivered Via Drone Artistic Differences and Infighting Caused by a Fractured Fan Base and this year's accidental book outline, The Original. -
Shardcast: Starsight Predictions and Skyward Lore
Personification commented on Chaos's article in Shardcast
I feel like this is true of everyone. The trick is accidentally being productive as a byproduct of maintaining the illusion. -
Due to my personal rules to only go into allies with appropriate lighting and never take baked goods from people on the internet, I am not entirely positive about this, but I had always been under the impression that the DA cookie spikes steal attributes, and are harvested later, meaning that you neither get superpowers nor do you get a long-term connection to harmony. But then again, what do I know? [plug/]Probably 80% of my posts are parodies (listed in my sig) [/plug], and the rest are almost all responses to General Discussion forum games and (usually poorly executed) snark.

The Seduction Vector will definitely be a Malcolm Gladwell book about weird phenomena related to dating. Also, my headcanon is that Lin Davar always had anger issues and an explosive temper, but under normal circumstances that just would have made him a kind of irritable person prone to explosions when provoked. Certainly not a good or peaceful person, but also not what he was post-Shallan's-matricide. However, after the cover-up he was basically being bombarded on all sides by hatred and accusation, while at the same time harboring a terrible secret that was eating him up and probably terrified that he might provoke Shallan to kill him too (which turned out to be a valid fear). This brought out the worst in him, which was already worse than most other people's worsts, 24/7, which further validated the hatred and accusation, which in turn exacerbated his misanthropy, etc.

They say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, but it's not one half so bad as a lot of ignorance.-Terry Pratchett I got quite annoyed after the Haiti earthquake. A baby was taken from the wreckage and people said it was a miracle. It would have been a miracle had God stopped the earthquake. More wonderful was that a load of evolved monkeys got together to save the life of a child that wasn't theirs.-Terry Pratchett

There is a secondary tradition during Ookla season to change profile pics so that they match someone else's, in order to heighten the confusion. Hence the Slowbrī (the proper plural form of Slowbro).

@Bridge_Four, welcome to the 17th Shard. One way that people often delete a post if they double post is to report themselves for the reason of an accidental double-post. A mod will remove the post, and you won't be penalized for it in any way. Also DO NOT EAT ANY COOKIES, they contain spikes and are made to steal part of your soul. PS: It is currently Ookla Season, so be warned that there are a large number of different people with Ookla in their name, and they often even have matching profile pics to heighten the confusion.

My question was double elimination (a curling team has 4 players) what is your other choice?
-
Eliminated Rock and Song, because then I get to have Thanksgiving stew! Which two couples would together form the best curling team?
-
@Ookla the ingenious , what is the question? Also, whatever happened to that marriage thing? Did I miss it?

Things the black spheres definitely are

Watch Serenity, it will help ease the pain (slightly). But I feel your pain. It was perfect. Why did you have to kill Joss Whedon's Space Cowboys, Fox? WHY!?!? -

I like the parody (I've never seen (or is it read?) RWBY). Also, I wanted an excuse to write "For the sake of all that we Hoid dear in the Cosmere..." -
I know, right? Also, does anyone else think that Hurl's name (Hudiya) sounds Hebrew?

For the sake of all that we Hoid sacred in the Cosmere If you feel like it, put this into the Cosmere, the Musical! thread (see my sig). Also: Tien opened his hands to reveal a Black Sphere, weathered on all sides, but with a jagged break on the bottom. Kal picked it up, looking it over. He couldn't see anything distinctive about it at all. In fact, it was dull. "It's just a Black Sphere," Kal said. "Not just a Black Sphere," Tien said, taking out his canteen. He wetted his thumb, then rubbed it on the flat side of the Black Sphere. The wetness darkened the Black Sphere, and made visible an array of Black patterns on the Black Sphere. "See?" Tien asked, handing it back. The strata of the Black Sphere alternate Black, black, Black. The pattern was remarkable. Of course, it was still just a Black Sphere. But for some reason, Kal found himself smiling. -
Should I redo my Ooklafication to better fit the "Ookla the X" format?

I agreed with @FeatherWriter the most, except for one thing: foci is pronounced with a hard c and the i is pronounced like the ie in piece. This is because it is borrowed from Latin, in which all cs are hard cs. If you want to Anglicize it, you would actually get focuses, because the only reason that us --> i is that that is how the word is pluralized in Latin, English doesn't function that way normally. Focuses and foci are both fine, but foe-sy is inconsistent. Also, I am shocked that nobody guessed Hoid for the first WTCC, because he literally fit every clue.
