@LewsTherinTalamon, Brandon explicitly says in the Elantris commentary that it is pronounced Ay-nay.
-
@LewsTherinTalamon, that was great. Two things: I believe Sarene is pronounced sar-en-ne and we do have confirmation of Hoid on Nalthis, he was a storyteller in the court of the gods.

[OB] Stormlight the Musical
Personification replied to Hoiditthroughthegrapevine's topic in Stormlight Archive
Here are all of my Stormlight parodies (all of these can be found in the Cosmere! The Musical thread, and some of them are found later in this thread. I update this post every time I have a new parody.): My Awesomeness (to the tune of Sound of Silence): Truthless (to the tune of Blackbird by the Beatles) The Bridgeman (to the tune of "The Boxer" by Simon and Garfunkel) "Empty Vests and Empty Sandals" (to the tune of "Empty Chairs and Empty Tables") Carry On My Wayward Son sung as a duet between Odium and Dalinar with literally 0 changes "Bridge Down" (performed by Kaladin, Gaz, and The Bridgemen) I know we already have a parody of "Stars" but: "Highspren" (To the tune of "Stars") The Ashspren National Anthem (another one with zero changes): "You'll Be Back" (Sung by Odium, to the tune of the song with the same title from Hamilton) "City in the Clouds" (To the tune of "Castle on a Cloud" from Les Mis) Szeth's Suicide (to the Tune of Javert's Suicide from Les Miserables) "Fire and Rain" (as sung by Dalinar) To the tune of the song with the same title by James Taylor "Defying Gravity" (as sung by Moash and Kaladin at the climax of WoR to the tune of the song with the same name from Wicked) "Thrill's in the Battle" as sung by Dalinar to the tune of "Cat's in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin "Highstorm" (As sung by Kaladin to the tune of "Hurricane" from Hamilton): Part 2 is here -
That is a link to this thread.

This is true art!

This was good, (I upvoted) though I would suggest keeping it a bit closer to the original meter. Also, and this is really just personal preference, I kind of prefer it when parodies keep the original repetition and wording patterns throughout a song, but again, this is great and that is just my preference. Edit: I didn't scroll up, OMG this is the best ever!

How I’d like to see Sanderson’s Cosmere on screen
Personification replied to Cosmernaut's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Animated shows do tend to draw in a younger audience, and the people who are more likely to enjoy it might avoid it assuming it is for a younger audience.- 14 replies

How I’d like to see Sanderson’s Cosmere on screen
Personification replied to Cosmernaut's topic in General Brandon Discussion
All live action. I agree with those who say that animation would draw in the wrong people and alienate potential real fans.- 14 replies

[OB] Would have loved to seen the wedding
Personification replied to bdoble97's topic in Stormlight Archive
That is the ideal alternative, but the problem is that it would have minimal conflict and an already known end, unless of course it is just the beginning of it and then you see more conflicty stuff afterwards. -
[OB] Would have loved to seen the wedding
Personification replied to bdoble97's topic in Stormlight Archive
That disappoints me. I actually really liked the ending, but I might also have enjoyed seeing the wedding, and looking at the forum has made me realize just how much got glossed over after the battle, especially Szeth, which I hadn't noticed at first. This led me to hope that the beginning of book 4 would back track a bit to cover the aftermath of the battle as well as the wedding and the Alethi reaction to Jasnah becoming queen. Now all of my hopes and dreams are shattered, OH WOE IS ME! -
[OB] Glyph Translation Discussion (No Plot Spoilers)
Personification replied to Harakeke's topic in Stormlight Archive
Has anyone tried fitting "adoda" (light) into the Lightweaver glyph? I noticed that strength had the same beginning as weakness, same with journey and destination, is anyone focusing on etymology? Also, the phonemes feel wrong. In the ideals, both ts and zh appear, but neither has a letter to go with it. Also, are the h's in the middle of words supposed to represent modified vowel sounds or are they pronounced? Finally, is the ch pronounced like it is in English, or is it more like the Hebrew letter chet? -
I give you, "City in the Clouds" (To the tune of "Castle on a Cloud" from Les Mis) Minor WoR spoilers:
-
About the base song, or about my ability to post OB spoilery parodies on the other thread? (Also, does the parody name follow the pattern of the original song name?)

I thought about this because of the SA movie deal thing, which worries my because the only way I see it working is as a TV show, too much content for movies. Additionally, to get the Cosmere to work they would need to make sure that people understand that all of the TV shows and movies are in the same universe, which could be difficult. The solution: Netflix or a similar service. That way, they could release them as different types of TV shows and movies while still keeping them in the same place, possibly even group them together on the site, and even release them in season (read "book") long chunks, to get the same kind of feel as the real series. It would also allow for better order and pacing, so that when Brandon releases Cosmere books of different series before finishing the series of the previously released book, as he does, the TV/movie version can release them in the same order and not be as confusing or annoying to people. Finally, it would also allow for the novella's to become movie/TV works, because if there is a "Cosmere" tab on Netflix, or something like that, there can be the equivalent of a "Short stories and novellas" section, whereas if the books are adapted into regular TV shows and movies, there really isn't room for most of that stuff, despite some of it being just as good if not better than some of his longer writings (Rankings of this are subjective, I think it is all great).
