  1. We can assume he is lying or if not lying not wanting Kel to get Lerasium. It would have been easy for Saz to say hey Kel there is a way because Wax did it and that is how Wayne could save the day, but did not really even want Wax/Wayne to burn Lerasium because he wanted to keep it a secret. He wants it secret from Kel because he wants Kel impotent for some reason. I also don't believe that Lerasium would not work on Kel b/c per WoB Lerasium adds to your spirit web(more lies) So if it's full then it would get an expanded spirit web. That could explain how Hoid is able to have all the abilities he has since he found a way out of maxing out the spirit web. I find in crazy that so many are defending Sazed. The point of that section as I saw it was to show how unreliabile Sazed has become and how good he has gotten at deception. Which should make us all second guess all the things he says to the kandra and the main cast. We all are expecting Kel to be the villian but this setup made it seem like Sazed is the real villian and maybe Autonomy was on to something.
  2. So much of what I liked and didn't is reflected above. I haven't seen much talked about Wax's arc so I'll speak to that. Wax has not been the most interesting of characters but in TLM he became a lot more interesting to me. His interactions with his children and wife were awesome to see in a novel. As a husband and father there are not a lot of fiction out there that portrays the joys of being a family man and I thought Brandon did a great job with this. Especially when he is getting ready to leave and tells them that he already found the greatest treasure referring to them. We also see Wax share the spotlight with Marasi and Wayne and doesn't feel like he has to prove himself. He is there for Wayne and can see through his lies that he is okay. Their talk on the billboard was a great way to explore their relationship and helped Wayne a lot and set him up to have peace. Wax's interactions with his sister and how they drifted apart was realistic and great. She amplified her faults from youth where Wax adapted and overcame his worst tendencies. Wax became a complete person integrating his personal life and house responsibilites, and his unique role for Harmony. I did feel that the plot did not really resolve nearly as well as the character arcs. Too many questions about the South, BoM, hemalurgy, harmonium properties, etc. I did appreciate closing some loose ends with the allomancer kidnappings and the Set being eliminated or nearly. Too much was for setup for Era 3 and future novellas, but overall I really did enjoy it and didn't mind the Cosmere cameos. It was good in that it was setting up Scadrial to be self aware that they need to step it up or they will be conquered by outsiders.
  3. Wax seems to be something other than just a Twinborn. Could he have a stronger connection to Sazed's power that allows him access to investiture without burning metals? I wonder if he is thinking something in particular when he is able to see the blue lines? The vials are super interesting and will be revealed in short order except for the last vile which to me is setup as a high reward high consequence power? Maybe he uses the final vial and gets high power for awhile but then his allomancy is burned out of him and he can never access it again? Pure atium Ruins your investiture? A little too on the nose? As far as the first 15 vials I expect it to be an enhanced steel maybe by being alloyed with atium ? I think it'd be cool if he gets to be an Iron misting so he can push and pull on metal + compound weight
  4. It's fun to guess what is going on. Do I ever expect to be right on? Of course not. Half the fun is seeing how I'm wrong. Keep up the wild guesses.
  5. I think the powder is a steel or iron alloy of one of the God metals (atium, lerasium, harmonium, trellium and will lead to a new or enchanced power for Wax. Either lerasium strength Coinshot / Steel Ferring, etc. One week to find out! I feel like most of the Wayne stuff is to set us up for Era 3 stuff and won't be that relevant to TLM. Wayne is definately burning a lot of metal and that might become an issue?
  6. A Time shield would be cool to see and would have a few applications related to defensive and offense.
  7. Any thoughts about the Iron earring. Is that a Koloss spike, a Kandra Blessing, or something else?
  8. It could be Melaan.
  9. Primer cubes work like Taynix boxes. Change my Mind
  10. I thought the pacing was good. The Romance definitely made the novella feel like it was in the YA category. The ending seemed a bit abrupt. It was more of a setup than a stand alone novella. Overall I enjoyed it and it made me look forward for the next installment which means it did its job.
  11. In regards to whether Teft could use Adhesion. If I remember correctly the plan was to use adehsion on the outside of the tower as part of the radiant resue plan.
  12. Honor is splintered with the biggest chunk being incorporated into the Stormfather which is how Dalinar can release the bond holding Odium to the Roshar System. Rayse in Oathbringer muses about how he didn't splinter the shard enough after seeing how the truespren are acting and that he will need to splinter Honor into smaller pieces when he gets the opportunity.
  13. One of the themes of Stormlight has been how much more capable and dangerous having unbounded power is then having power bounded by oaths, pacts, etc. The heralds thought that the Radiants needed tighter bounds and Ishar did something to impose limits on their bond. Honor also limited the Radiants power from reaching its greatest potential. Kalak and other cognitive shadows are trying to circumvent being bounded to a particular region of physical and cognitive space. Hoid has more functionality because he remains unbounded. I think what Cultivation is doing is pruning and grooming mortals who will not be held back by the limitations of her power that are prevented her from her goals. I assume she has some goal of cultivating the entire cosmere and is creating tools to accomplish that. Vargo, Dalinar, and Lift are all tools to accomplish this goal. I see Cultivation as this patient mastermind manipulating others to take on the dangerous and risky parts of her plan. Additionally, I'm speculating that Shard Avatars are going to be major players in the endgame of the Cosmere. I think Dalinar will accomplish more as an unbound tool. His future could go multiple directions. The one I'm rooting for is that Fused Dalinar will be permabonded to the Stormfather and the Thrill to become an Avatar of War. I have no idea how that would work but it seems like a great antagonist to me.
  14. Lucy is the best.
  15. Champion. If I remember correctly in the W&W series Wax is reffered to as Ruin's Champion and TenSoon was referred to as Preservation's Champion.
  16. I don't think Wit waited around for Elhokar to die so that he could bond his spren. Wit knows where he is supposed to be but not why he is supposed to be there. It has been awhile since I read Oathrbinger but I believe that he knew he was needed in Kolinar but did not know why until he found the Cryptic.
  17. Great idea for a thread 1)Why you joined 17th Shard I was looking for a reference library of all the items pertaining to one of Brandon's books and found the Coppermind which I thought was a weird name for a reference repository since I had only read Way of Kings at that point. From the Coppermind I found the 17th shard and it reminded me of when I was in high school reading Wheel of Time and the fandom theories and discussions that I really enjoyed back in the day. 2)The impact the Shard has had on you since you joined The Shard has helped me see things that I missed and I love how we have younger and older people interacting on the Shard. 3)Any fun memories/ anything else that you have enjoyed about the Shard. I've enjoyed the recent addition of the videos. It's fun to watch the interactions between Eric and rest of the motley crew.
  18. I think Brandon is doing a great job with the Kaladin character. To me the way Kaladin is written makes him seem more like a real person and not just a bland fantasy archetype protoagonist. Your sentiment seems to be a common one on the forum, but there are also a lot of people who have written Brandon who struggle with depression that have expressed to him how much it means to them that he wrote a character like Kaladin. So it is definately a mixed bag from the readers. At the end of the day you don't have to like every character to enjoy the series.
  19. The highstorm is weird realmatically. It is similar to a travelling perpendicularity or in other words it bring the 3 realms together for a short period of time. The repeated phenomenon over time has made the 3 realms closer on Roshar than in other areas of the cosmere. Shinovar is more protected from the highstorms and therfore the realms are farther apart in that part of the world. The spren still exist there but are not seen in the physical realm. That's my theory at least.
  20. Those Light Lances are going to be fun.
  21. On Roshar we have seen access to surges through the nahel bond and through specialized fabrials. I include honorblades in the fabrial category. Presumably on Ashyn there either was a unknown type of fabrial or a 3rd way to access the surges/fundamental forces.
  22. Ghost Bloods Ghost = Cognitive Shadow Blood = Hemalurgy Therefore Hemalurgic Cognitive Shadow group = Kelsier's secret group
  23. Would Rayse call Rashek ascended after he used the Well ?
  24. I am kind of hoping that Dalinar bonds all of the Bondsmith spren. From a passage in OB I think the 2nd Bondsmith spren is going to be somekind of stone spren representing the continent of Roshar. The singers mention gods of stone and wind. god of wind would be the Stormfarther. The 3rd bondsmith spren would be the sibling.
  25. My opinion was Nale was too easily thwarted in both WoR and Edgedancer. The only way I could make sense of it was that he really just didn't try all that hard.
